Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.

I would pick gulab jamun. This is an Indian dessert made by frying soft balls of sweet dough in ghee, then soaking them in a rose-flavoured sugar syrup. YUM!!!

I think it would have to be chocolate chunk brownies…well, maybe a chocolate chunk brownie ice cream sundae =)

My fav sweet tooth craving would be Gulab Jamun. It’s an Indian dessert that is fried, soaked in sweet goodness then eaten.
I don’t have it often possibly once or twice per year but when I do I enjoy it with a cup of hot tea and I am good to go!

If I had to choose one dessert…… It was have to be (wow this is very difficult) an upside down Dutch apple Pie drizzled with a warm Carmel sauce…… It melts in your mouth and disappears so quickly!!!!

Well, I’m 8 months pregnant with my first, so my answer could change at the drop of a hat. For now, though, here’s my answer. If I could only have one dessert for the rest of my life, it’d have to be my wildberry muffins (my own recipe!). It may not sound like dessert, but I think it qualifies! After all, muffins are just cupcakes we justify in the morning because they don’t have frosting! (YUM!)

Cheesecake! White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake to be exact. It is absolutely delectable. There’s nothing it couldn’t cure. But one of my all time favorite & weakness is Peanut Butter Cornflake Cookies. They’re quick, easy, cheap, peanut butter, what more do you need? I’m mostly likely to make these and eat the entire batch seeing as that’s still less damaging than one slice of cheesecake.

For me it would be M & M Cookies and for my husband it would be Pinapple Upside Cake!
I have a recipe that is so good. It is four layers. The first is a pecan flour crust, then cream cheese layer, then chocolate pudding layer, then cool whip. It is so good.

Cool color! My choice of sweet would have to be mint chocolate chip ice cream with homemade hot fudge sauce. It’s always my go-to favorite.
I would pick something that had a mixture of a few of my favourite things. That way I could pick and choose at my favourite, depending on mood. After all – it’s the only dessert I could have for the rest of my life, right? Sooo… I would say, a Baskin Robbins ‘Peanut Butter & Chocolate’ banana royale topped with chocolate chip cookie crumbles, marshmallows and a cherry lollipop. Over the top? …perhaps.

If I should choose the one dessert I would eat for the rest of my life, it would be something we call “lagkage” i Denmark. A homebaked vanillacake in three or more layers (ca. 1 inch high each) with all kinds of summerfruits mixed in wiped cream and chunky chocolate plus just a bit vanilla in between the layers. Wiped cream on the side to cover the edges and glaze on top. Best cake ever! And you can vary it in so many ways, that you would never get tired of it.
That is such a tough question… I guess I would have to go with chocolate chip cookies, classical recipe with browned butter.

Kuih dadar is a rolled crepe flavored with pandan juice and filled with grated coconut steeped in gula melaka or Indonesia palm sugar. Pandan leaf is the core ingredient of this kuih dadar. Simple, sweet, yummy yet a great companion with tea for tea break :D

Plain, classic brownies. No fillers (such as caramel, chunks of chocolate making them extra gooey, nuts, etc). And definitely no frosting. Just a little powdered sugar dusted over the top. :)

If I had to pick just one thing it would probably be apple curmble pie with icing sugar on top! I’ve loved this pie since I was little, which is actually quite convenient because whenever there’s a birthday, there’s always an apple crumble pie! ;)
Caramel cheesecake! I could eat that until I died! As in caramel flavour cheesecake with caramel running through it and caramel on top served with either dulce de leche ice cream or just normal cream! Mmmmmm…

Good old fashioned spiced plum crumble, with vanilla bean custard. So fruity and delicious – and you can eat it warm in Winter, or cold in Summer. YUM!

I would probably have to go with chocolate chip cookies. Pretty boring compared to what others are choosing, but I love a simple dessert and you can have so many different tasting chocolate chip cookies depending on what you put in them, so I think it would never get boring.
Dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting! That’s been my favorite since I was a kid!
One dessert for the rest of my life? I would have to say my great-grandmother’s poppy seed bundt cake. The cake is so light and fluffy with just the right amount of chocolate swirled in for some additional color and flavor. I might have to go make one tonight.

I’d choose a classic Mousse au chocolat but with tiny little chunks of chocolate in it. I love it when the chocolate melts in your mouth and intensifies the flavour of the mousse. yummie <3
I think that if I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life it would have to be key lime pie, that tart, cool, creamy taste always takes me to a super happy place with blue skies of course so the stand mixer would make it an all around kind of dream :)

I could without a doubt eat dark chocolate and cherry brownies every single day! Slightly warm with a bit of vanilla ice cream on top.. simple and perfect!

I love cupcakes and all, but if I had to pick a sweet to eat for the rest of time, I’d probably pick blueberry scones! There’s just something about the buttery, crumbly pastry mixed with sweet, tart blueberries!

When I saw your post I had to think, there’s just so many desserts to choose from – how can you possibly pick just ONE? Although I think i’ve narrowed it down..my all-time-favourite dessert is sticky toffee pudding – i’ve done or had almost everything that is related too – ice cream, cupcakes, cake pops, and of course, the pudding itself. So one dessert – four incredibly variations – how could you go wrong?

What exciting adventures you have had lately! 35 years ago when I met my future husband, one of the first gifts he bought me was a KitchenAid mixer so I could make my own wedding cake. I still have it today and it has helped me make many wedding, anniversary, and birthday cakes. Although I believe it will continue to work forever, a new Crystal Blue one would look spectacular and fresh in my kitchen. Vanilla ice cream is my sweet of choice if I could only have one sweet forever!
the best dessert I can’t live without is Leche Flan. It is the best for Filipinos. It is an all occasion dessert with its yummy caramel and smooth custard. Summertime isn’t complete without halo-halo and Leche Flan.

What a lovley colour! Your question got me thinking and I must say that if I had to choose only one thing it would have to be my “Dreamy White Chocolate Cake” filled with passionfruit and creamcheese frosting, covered in marzipan. This cake is an experiance and one piece will never be enough :)

Hmm, favourite dessert. I think I’d have to go for creme brulee! Once I had a raspberry and white chocolate one which was SO good, I’ve never been able to replicate it!
Dark chocolate peanut butter cake balls. A girl brought cake pops to my party the other day and mixed in peanut butter with the icing (not sure of the proportions) and that was with chocolate cake, then reg chocolate coating. They were perfect.
