Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.

I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.

If I had to pick just one dessert it would be a white cake with buttercream frosting topped with coconut. Just like the one my friend Ginger makes me for my birthday. And not only for how yummy it is but for the memories it makes. ;) thanks Bakerella!!

If I had to pick only one dessert I could eat forever, it would have to be panna cotta with raspberry coulis. The smooth sweet vanilla panna cotta with its burst of sharp raspberry is a pefect flavour combination and goes down really well. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, although I might have to start buying bigger trousers. All that cream …. mmmmm!
Chocolate cake, hands down :) I don’t even need the frosting. I just love chocolate cake.
I have 2 things because it’s really hard to choose. My 1st would be my Dad’s recipe for his Banana bread, it is the moistest most delicious, it is more like a cake than a bread. Second, it would be my famous Dark Chocolate, Espresso, Nutella cookies, my biggest hit and most requested cookie.

Wow! This is a tough one! I would have to go with a very chocolatey, fudgy brownie with nuts, no frosting.

I think it would have to be my aunt’s homemade brownies and frosting. It’s already my go-to when I need to make something.

If I had to choose one sweet I would choose self-made panna cotta with strawberry sauce. Yummie!

My favorite dessert is cheesecake. Mu mom’s old, old recipe is the one I like the best. It is just a plain cheesecake with nothing extra on top or added to it. Wouldn’t a blender like this one make it a whole lot easier to make?!!!

If I were to eat one kind of sweet/dessert for the rest of my life, it could only be “Brazo de Mercedes” (rolled cake made of egg whites rich custard filling). I love it so much! :)
If I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life it would be chocolate chip cookies. They are by far my go to food when I need a sweet, but I am picky about them. Soft, but not gooey; sweet, but with the right amount of salt; and butter, never margarine.

I simply cant limit myself to 1 dessert it is just not possible but flavor of the day Id say a good old fashioned trifle with 3 or more layers its like a new dessert with every layer….. mmmmmm. Cant wait to see what i’ll feel like tomorrow ;)

Every year on my birthday my Mom or my Grandma would make me chocolate lava cake. It’s chocolate cake with yummy chocolate fudge sauce in the middle, when cut into it the gooey fudge drips out… Oh and icecream is a must!!,
They are both gone now and I have searched high and low for the recipe but alas, have not found it… I’ve tried others but haven’t found the right one. I could eat that cake everyday forever!!

If I could only eat one dessert or sweet for the rest of my life it would most definitely have to be Red Velvet Cake. It was my father’s favourite cake and every year I make it on his birthday. Only ONE kind of dessert??? Hmmm…. We just got back from Disney and I had the most AMAZING caramel mocha cupcake. It was topped with a light whipped icing and “smooshed” in chocolate, caramel and toffee chips. HEAVEN on earth!! I could totally live on that forever! :)

If I have only one life, let me relish it while eating my buttery, coconut cookies. Crunchy outside, chewy inside, they transport me to a tropical place in my mind. I could easily sustain myself with a steady “diet” of my Loco-Coconut Cookies, prepared with fresh, quality coconut.
If I could pick only one dessert I would choose rainbow cookies. Three layers of moist almond like cake with raspberry or apricot jam in between the layers of cake topped with a hardened chocolate. Then sliced in to 1″ cookies so you don’t feel guilty eating more than one :)
Panacotta all the way! any flavour, with any syrup! I just love the smoothness!
If I had to pick just one dessert, it would definitely be the pink lemonade cake truffles I’ve been making! I can’t even roll and dip some because I end up eating the mixture before I start! Lol!

The mixer is gor-geous!!! I love that blue! I can’t decide whether I would go with the Jacques Torres chocolate chip cookies or homemade Oreos. I’m such a cookie fan that there’s no way I would be able to live without a cookie of some sort.
The dessert I would love to eat for the rest of my life is definitely my mom’s chocolate mousse! It’s fluffy and chocolaty and a little bit coffee-y and just amazing. Even eating mousse of the same recipe wouldn’t work. When ever I try it it is just half as good (which still means good, but not perfect!).

Strawberry Shortcake.
The old fashioned kind that Grandma used to make. The kind where the base has the consistency of a biscuit, not an angel food cake. The strawberries have to sit overnight in sugar, letting the juices start to flow, so that when they’re poured over the “cake” they make it soggy and delicious. Of course, it has to be topped with whipped cream…the real stuff. Heavy cream with a dash of vanilla. That dessert is as close to heaven as this earth is gonna get you.

You just can’t beat homemade apple crumble and custard, made with just sharp enough apples to cut through the sweetness of the vanilla custard. My very favourite!

OMG! What a beautiful color!!!! Chocolate chip cookies are my very favorite, so if I could only choose one thing, they would be it. Nice soft cookies, just slightly firm around the edges, not too many chocolate chips – that would be the perfect lifetime dessert for me! Thank you for the chance!

If I could eat only ONE dessert for the rest of my life it would be almond puff pastry with icing. It is something my mom used to make and makes my mouth water when I think of it. I can never make it as good as my mom or as good as my memory remembers it. But it is heavenly

If I could only eat one dessert forever, it would be… Publix Supermarket’s Fresh-Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies. I’m not sure what evil ingredient is in there that makes them so compelling… but I’ve tried Chocolate Chip Cookies all over the world, and never had one as good. I eat them plain, frozen, with milk, with coffee — and they are all good!

Cheese flan. I grew up eating this, as my grandma was a great pastry cook, and I tell you nothing compares to the delicious richness and decadence of a bite of flan!

I love the dessert that is made with a saltine base and then butter/brown sugar over that and chocolate chips melted on top with nuts sprinkled…the recipe I have calls it toffee crackers, but I’ve seen it called other things too. THAT is something I could eat by the pan. MMmmmmmmm
