I was in Columbus, Ohio last weekend visiting with some sweet friends that I’ve met through blogging… Wendy of Wenderly, Bridget of Bake at 350, and Amy of She Wears Many Hats. Hi guys! I mean girls.
Wendy lives in Ohio and invited us to spend a few days at her cabin in the woods. Has anyone seen that movie? And yes, I totally spent the weekend suggesting scary movie situations to them. What if this – and what if that. But mostly scaring myself. I definitely watch way too many SyFy Sunday movies. If you watch that channel, you know the ones I mean.
Anyway, we kicked off our fun cabining weekend with a straight from the airport pitstop for lunch and then Jeni’s ice cream. Yay!
Jeni’s is based in Ohio and I’ve been wanting to visit one of her scoop shops for some time now.
She has some incredible flavors. Or should I say splendid.
And yogurt too.
I love all the chalk writing and window words. So cute.
The inside of the store is perfect with the ceiling strung in little lights and paper garland.
You can buy ice cream by the scoop and by the pint. Whoohoo!

Like this one for flu season. Influenza sorbet.
Soothing for the sickly. Made with cayenne pepper, ginger, bourbon, honey, orange and lemon juices.
Handwritten! Love it and love how the same flavors are written by different people. What a fun way to add that personal touch.
And now I have a strange desire get a job handwriting ice cream labels. I wonder if I could add hearts and smiley faces.
By the way, if you’re in Ohio, stop what you are doing right now and run and get some of that Maple Walnut ice cream. It’s fantastic. I think that container on the top right is actually mocking me right now with all of its maple amazingness. I even tried to order some more today online, but that flavor is seasonal and isn’t shipping. Wipes tear. So get it in stores while you can.

The staff at Jeni’s was great. Super patient. They didn’t even mind the 571 samples we asked for. But I think that’s pretty smart of them, because then we ended up ordering 571 scoops to enjoy. You know … just to be absolutely sure they were good. : )

While we were laughing and sampling, we had a fun surprise. Jeni stopped in the location we were at. With several stores, we certainly weren’t expecting that. Wendy had met her before so she introduced us.

So much about ice cream, even with this freeze coming on. My favorite frozen treat hands down is a chocolate milk shake made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.

Ice cream! My husband bought me the ice cream maker for my Cuisinart mixer for Christmas 2011 then we promptly moved to a house where the freezer is too small for it. Moving again soon – can’t wait to use it!

With me, it’s all about quality…if the ice cream is good I am on it, but if it’s not I will forgo it and move on. :) I love a good frozen yogurt, and a place by my house makes some that is really good. Oddly, it’s freezing here and NOW is when my husband brings home pints of ice cream–not a bit all summer long! :)

ICE CREAM! While some frozen yogurts are good, they can sometimes have a tang to them that I just don’t like. Plus, nothing beats a vanilla ice cream made from scratch in the ice cream maker!!
I love Jeni’s. had the blueberry corn, I believe , a few years back and it was delicious! In our house we eat a lot of Breyer’s natural vanilla and also Talenti gelatos– so good!

I found jeni’s when my son went to OSU. A visit to see him meant a visit to jeni’s too. I love ice cream. I haven’t met a flavor I didn’t like but my all time favorite is the Queen City Cayenne
I think my family has ice cream in our DNA! My earliest memories of my late grandmother are of her sharing a bowl of ice cream with my sister and me, and my father is pretty much addicted to the stuff, so naturally, I married a guy who loves it as much as I do and our (now grown) children call it their favorite dessert! I might need to make a road trip to Ohio…

Ice cream for sure! Our favorite here is Bluebell Ice cream. We live not very far from the creamery and we have some friends that live close to it and say you can tell when they make cookies and cream. They can smell it all the way to their place.

Ooooh goodness! I think in the summer I’m more of a frozen yogurt girl (especially if they have a good cake batter flavor – with sprinkles, obviously). What a fun getaway! I have tried Jenni’s ice cream and it is to DIE FOR!! I do a lot of fat free frozen yogurt but once in a while the goat cheese with cherries from Jenni’s. I love that you can get small sizes. :)

I do love me some frozen yogurt but there’s nothing like real good ice cream.
It’s a close race between ice cream and frozen yogurt for me to choose a favorite, but since I try to live a healthy lifestyle I must go with the frozen yogurt. I really enjoy Greek frozen yogurt because it is creamier and thicker than regular frozen yogurt, and it also has a tang to it that’s tasty. When I indulge, however, I enjoy good old fashioned vanilla bean ice cream and homemade peach ice cream :)

The best ice cream is Blue Bell and I’m only able to have it when I’m visiting my sister in Alabama. It’s a southern thing? Pumpkin Praline is amazing. I’m a good ol’ fashioned ice cream gal. I love flavors of all types, the more exotic the better, but a scoop if vanilla and a few shakes of mr. Sprinkles makes all things happy! The others are good, and I love coconut sorbet…after a bowl of ice cream! : )

Ice cream all the way. I live the Haagen Daaz Pepperming Bark that is seasonal around Christmas. And I do love a good salted caramel ice cream. Yum!
Just made homemade milkshakes last night. Mine was strawberry and banana, my husband enjoyed chocolate and our exchange student had straight up strawberry. I could never choose my favorite flavor but raspberry chocolate chip would be at the top of my list.
It is all about the different variations/mis of flavors using chocolate, whether it is a frozen treat, sorbet or ice cream. It is worth cheating while being on a diet. Feels more rewarding instead of feeling guilty. Diet can always continue tomorrow.

I live in Columbus and I havent had Jeni’s yet!! I love icecream and maple walnut is one of my favorites (from friendlys) My family and I would love to win this and sample their icecreams. Thank you! Glad you girls had fun!
If I am buying in the store, I would have to say frozen yogurt. BUT if I am making it, it would be my goat’s milk ice cream – YUM!! Nothing better than that!!

I am definitely an ice cream lover! The richer the better. Last summer, I made my favorite flavor ever: a salted maple butter pecan. Delicious!

Are you and Jenny long lost sisters? You look so much alike. I like frozen bananas. I cut them up and freeze them. I like the creaminess of frozen bananas.
Favorite frozen treat….hand’s down is ice cream! I love ice cream with chunks of goodness like cheesecake or peanut butter. Jeni’s Maple Walnut sounds AMAZING! You can’t go wrong with ice cream. :)

I love Jeni’s Ice Cream!!! I’m more of an ice cream fan, but sorbets and frozen yogurts come very close. She has a seasonal flavor “The Black Forest” that I love. I also tried the Rainbow Frozen Yogurt recently, and it was amazing. Thanks for putting on this contest!
This has to be one of the best giveaways..ever. I love ice cream, and I love every flavor. I do love all these frozen yogurt places that are popping up ,as well. I wish I had my own topping bar! Nothing makes you feel better than sitting down with a couple of scoops of frozen cream (especially if it has chocolate in it).
My Hubby is all about ice cream, and I’m serious for sorbet. I would love to try her ice cream and I’m going over to check out her recipes.
