I was in Columbus, Ohio last weekend visiting with some sweet friends that I’ve met through blogging… Wendy of Wenderly, Bridget of Bake at 350, and Amy of She Wears Many Hats. Hi guys! I mean girls.
Wendy lives in Ohio and invited us to spend a few days at her cabin in the woods. Has anyone seen that movie? And yes, I totally spent the weekend suggesting scary movie situations to them. What if this – and what if that. But mostly scaring myself. I definitely watch way too many SyFy Sunday movies. If you watch that channel, you know the ones I mean.
Anyway, we kicked off our fun cabining weekend with a straight from the airport pitstop for lunch and then Jeni’s ice cream. Yay!
Jeni’s is based in Ohio and I’ve been wanting to visit one of her scoop shops for some time now.
She has some incredible flavors. Or should I say splendid.
And yogurt too.
I love all the chalk writing and window words. So cute.
The inside of the store is perfect with the ceiling strung in little lights and paper garland.
You can buy ice cream by the scoop and by the pint. Whoohoo!

Like this one for flu season. Influenza sorbet.
Soothing for the sickly. Made with cayenne pepper, ginger, bourbon, honey, orange and lemon juices.
Handwritten! Love it and love how the same flavors are written by different people. What a fun way to add that personal touch.
And now I have a strange desire get a job handwriting ice cream labels. I wonder if I could add hearts and smiley faces.
By the way, if you’re in Ohio, stop what you are doing right now and run and get some of that Maple Walnut ice cream. It’s fantastic. I think that container on the top right is actually mocking me right now with all of its maple amazingness. I even tried to order some more today online, but that flavor is seasonal and isn’t shipping. Wipes tear. So get it in stores while you can.

The staff at Jeni’s was great. Super patient. They didn’t even mind the 571 samples we asked for. But I think that’s pretty smart of them, because then we ended up ordering 571 scoops to enjoy. You know … just to be absolutely sure they were good. : )

While we were laughing and sampling, we had a fun surprise. Jeni stopped in the location we were at. With several stores, we certainly weren’t expecting that. Wendy had met her before so she introduced us.

I love ice cream, but custard from Babcock’s at the University of Madison is probably my favorite! Especially their chocolate peanut butter flavor! Yum!
I LOVE ice cream. Pretty much any flavor, with lots of stuff in it. In Texas, I love a place called Amy’s Ice Cream.
I love ice cream! Mint choc chip is my go-to favorite, but I’m not very loyal to that flavor.
Frozen yogurt all the way! There’s a place in Birmingham called Sweet Frog, and they have this ah-mazing praline yogurt. And it’s “good” for you!

I prefer ice cream the most. Though favorite frozen treat is hard to answer. If it’s just limited to intentionally frozen treats, then likely cookies and cream ice cream. Unintentionally frozen treats would be andes chocolate mints. They are super tasty frozen.

Ice cream or frozen yogurt or sorbet. Where I live we have Freestyle frozen yogurt, i.e. the best fro-yo I have ever had! Favorite flavors depend on what you’re serving them with, but Freestyle makes a mean red velvet cake and California tart frozen yogurt. Oh, and the Pomegranate Raspberry sorbet!

I can’t believe I haven’t found this shop! Our best friends live in Columbus and we hop over from Indianapolis all the time. My husband LIVES for ice cream, as do our 2 daughters. I’m allergic to chocolate and so I never developed much of a sweet tooth as a result. That being said, I do love a good sorbet. So light and just right. What a FUN give away!
OMG those flavors sounds incredible. I am ice cream junkie from way back. My mom used to eat chocolate ice cream topped with ground pecans. I guess it’s in the blood. I love dark chocolate espresso with pistachios too. Pretty much haven’t met an ice cream that I don’t like!

I like all three, Frozen Yogurt is difficult to find here, I like Sorbet, but here Ice Cream is what I purchase the most, BUt I fI go home… I go to the local Frozen Custard Shop every day I am home.

The creamier the better!! Ice cream is an American tradition! Bubblegum ice cream is my all time favorite! Swensens used to make their version with colored gumballs in it……LOVED IT!
Icecream!! It was always the go-to. When we were kids, my parents would occasionally take us to our local icecream stand and let us order whatever we want- and it could be for dinner. Oh, those were the days!! I almost always get something with nuts and chocolate. YUM!

Ice cream! There is a shake place here in Utah that makes “Pie Shakes” and “Cupcake Shakes”. My favorites are Raspberry Lemonade cupcake shake and Key Lime cupcake shake. Yum!

I currently prefer frozen yogurt – I’m currently on a diet (bummer) but I can still have frozen yogurt without feeling too guilty lol.

I love ice cream AND sorbet. I’ve never been much of a chocolate ice cream fan though because I’ve never tasted one that captured a good dark chocolate flavor (which is my fave kind of chocolate). I also only like sorbets with a true fruit taste not fakey syrups.

The past couple of years it has been a local place that does a super creamy, extra chocolatey frozen custard – though a good pistachio gelato is another go to frozen treat! I love the idea of the influenza one!
I love dark chocolate ice cream. The kind you can actually chew. I’ve never had Jeni’s but have heard great things. I’d definitely have a tasting party, though I’d hoard the Dark Chocolate for myself!
Ice cream. All day, every day. It’s been my favorite food for as long as I can remember (no joke), and I’m super stoked to have just discovered a new local brand here in Philly!

I am a full on frozen yogurt kinda girl! My absolute favorite dessert is from a place in West LA called The Bigg Chill. They have the best frozen yogurt pies! Their vegan cookie dough topping is to die for!!
i LOVE ice cream – it’s the creaminess, especially of the chocolate variety. But since I’ve been on a health kick with NY resolutions and all, I’ve grown to love froyo too. It’s gotta be super creamy with lotsa toppings though. :)
