Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.

They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.

In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.

And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

  1. The most recent addition to my growing cookbook collection was a gift from my Granny- the Bucklin, Kansas Centennial Cookbook. My next one will be either Cake Pops (because a lot of birthdays are on the horizon) or something for Crock Pots (because I just accepted an evening position but still want my family to have a hot dinner!)

I’ve tried several different cake pops so far and I’m really having so much fun making gifts for family & friends & at my job – selling pink cake pops for breast cancer awareness. 100% of the money made is going to my team for the October breast cancer walk!! These were purchased from my library bookstore for $2.50 total :) I love getting cookbooks from there! The next book I plan to buy is Good Eats 3!

  159. Last cookbook I bought was The Pioneer Woman’s book for each of my daughters. I love to bake…and have been delving into cupcakes. I don’t live in an area where there are any cool cupcake shops.

  162. I just bought the Bobby Flay Bold Flavors book for my iPad. It’s monumental, as it’s the first book I got for it. :) Also, I would LOVE to win this book – the cakes look so cute!

  166. This past year for my birthday my grandma gave me a cookbook full of recipes that only require 5 ingredients, plus pantry staples. It’s actually pretty handy and creative!

  177. Last cookbook was Southern Plate by Christy Jordan and I cannot wait to get my hands on this one Miette!!! I have a brand new Kitchen Aide Pro mixer I received as a gift from friends and family, would love to have these pans and the book sounds like perfect size for my family (3 ladies, 83, 62 and 55).. LOL.. Mom, me and my sister!!!

  184. My sweet cousin gave me The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook for Christmas. It is not only a great cookbook with everyday meals, but it’s a great story, too! I have made several recipes for family events and each one has been a hit. I have been instructed that I need to bring the cinnamon rolls to every family function no matter what the time of day!

  186. Those look so tasty! The last book I bought was Fast Breads – 50 Recipes for Easy, Delicious Bread By Elinor Klivans. It’s also from Chronicle Books! Just bought it on Friday. And we made little donuts from it this evening. Yum!

  193. The last cookbook I acquired was Rose Levy Berenbaum’s Cake Bible. If you haven’t looked through it, you must! A great set of specific instructions & recipes to make perfect, consistent cakes. I am thinking the Miette cookbook may be my next, when I go to the cookbook section of the bookstore, I tend to get carried away…

  194. the last two cookbooks I aquired were on Saturday, it was my birthday and I had told people that I only wanted handmade gifts…not one but two of my lovely friends made me cookbooks with recipes selected especially for me..in cluding lots of cupcake recipes!… i love my friends!
