Miette

Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.

They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.

In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.

I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.

Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.

And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

the last two cookbooks I aquired were on Saturday, it was my birthday and I had told people that I only wanted handmade gifts…not one but two of my lovely friends made me cookbooks with recipes selected especially for me..in cluding lots of cupcake recipes!… i love my friends!

The last cookbook I acquired was Rose Levy Berenbaum’s Cake Bible. If you haven’t looked through it, you must! A great set of specific instructions & recipes to make perfect, consistent cakes. I am thinking the Miette cookbook may be my next, when I go to the cookbook section of the bookstore, I tend to get carried away…

Those look so tasty! The last book I bought was Fast Breads – 50 Recipes for Easy, Delicious Bread By Elinor Klivans. It’s also from Chronicle Books! Just bought it on Friday. And we made little donuts from it this evening. Yum!

My sweet cousin gave me The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook for Christmas. It is not only a great cookbook with everyday meals, but it’s a great story, too! I have made several recipes for family events and each one has been a hit. I have been instructed that I need to bring the cinnamon rolls to every family function no matter what the time of day!

Last cookbook was Southern Plate by Christy Jordan and I cannot wait to get my hands on this one Miette!!! I have a brand new Kitchen Aide Pro mixer I received as a gift from friends and family, would love to have these pans and the book sounds like perfect size for my family (3 ladies, 83, 62 and 55).. LOL.. Mom, me and my sister!!!

The last cookbook I got wasn’t a cookbook per se, it was more of an instruction manual. Ratio by Michael Ruhlman. I’ve been enjoying making breads and really breaking things down. Interesting read.
And the scalloped edges? A-dorable.

Oh I haven’t bought a cookbook in years, I down load recipes, my daughter loves to bake and I just downloaded some cake pop recipes since she loves to bake for the folks she works with! And my niece is having a wedding in Aug and she wants cake pops for her desserts! Yummo!

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever bought myself a cookbook. I rely on my mom’s old recipes and books and lovely blogs like this one. I’ve borrowed a few from the library now and then but not too often. I need to look at the cookbook section next time I’m roaming the aisles of Barnes and Noble, huh?

oops forgot to answer the question! The last book I got was “Double Delicious” by Jessica Seinfeld. It has some really delicious recipes in it! My son loves veggies, but it’s still nice to get more than we usually would & it’s still so yummy!

I haven’t had my eyes on any other cook books lately, but this one looks perfect for me!

The last cookbook I received was The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook for my birthday in May. I love the variety of recipes in her cookbook, along with stories of her life, great mix! I’m unsure what my next cookbook purchase will be, I’m so indecisive! It will probably be a cookbook with recipes that I’m currently craving, so maybe sweets or maybe home cooking….truly hard to tell!
