Pop Star: Alicia in California

“I absolutely love your website! I found it when I was looking for a recipe for cake pops. My sister tried them, and told me how good they were. Being a sweets lover, I decided to research them, and try to make them myself. That’s how I stumbled upon your amazing website. When I saw your wedding cake pops I fell in love! My sister in law was having a bridal shower, so I decided to make them as the favor. I’m a new mom so I didn’t have time to decorate with sprinkles, so I used ribbon. Everyone loved them. My husband’s step grandmother asked if I got the idea from your website, and I told her yes. Apparently we are two of your biggest fans and I didn’t even know! Anyway, thank you for all of your inspiration in the kitchen. If I don’t have time to bake, its sure fun to watch you do it!” – Alicia

  1. Hi looking for a unique cake or dessert for a bridle shower. Do you have some ideas for me?

  2. Awesomeness! I made some capcake bites for my friend’s birthday and she loved them SO much that she asked me to do some for her cousin’s WEDDING! Bakerella! You got me in trouble! LOL! Luckily its a very small wedding but these are SO cute and they look easier than the ones in the CAKE POPS book.

  3. So so so cute! They came out perfectly!

  4. Yay! Its me! Thanks Bakerella!

To make the cakes I used two round cookie cutters that were about 1/4″ different in size. I followed Bakerella’s instructions for her cake pops. I shaped all of the circles, and then stacked them. I dipped the stick in melted white chocolate coating, and then pushed it through both layers of cake ( be careful, you can go all the way through before you know it.) and before it dried I wrapped the ribbon around the base of each layer. If you aren’t fast enough you can fix it with more melted chocolate. And don’t forget the heart sprinkle on top!

Note: I cut all the ribbon in advance to save for time when dipping the cakes. I used strawberry cake with vanilla frosting. The cake showed through to make them look pink, which matched the ribbon really well.

  5. Can you tell us how you did these darling little “cakes”, what did you use for the shapes?

  6. OMG, these are gorgeous! Great job. I attempted, and failed, with this project. Couldn’t get them to stack correctly, or even be the right shape. You did perfect on these. I love the ribbon too. These look great. I’m sure the bride loved them.
