Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. Oh, I wish I could eat all those doughnuts. We only buy doughnuts one morning during our summer vacation at the beach each year. It’s a tradition. My hips thank me for it.

I can’t decorate cake pops at all!!! They look atrocious. But they do taste good. I can sew.

    Is that enough? Cute necklace.

  2. After seeing this post, I want a donut. As luck would have it – I can win one from here too!

So… something about me? I’m addicted to Big Bang Theory, Mythbusters and the popcap game Plants vs Zombies, and this Easter I’m hoping to make miniature chocolate chip & M&M cookies for my nieces (and some bigger ones for my husband too!).

  3. I LOVE doughnuts! A doughnut truck just rolled into my town this past year, and my life will never be the same. This fine establishment is called Gourdoughs and if you are ever in the Austin area–heck, if you are ever in the great state of Texas–you should check out this truck. The first doughnut I tried was the Flying Pig–a huge doughnut covered in thick slices of local bacon and topped with maple icing. Amazing.

  4. I stumbled on Sublime about a month after they opened. I live about five minutes away. Which is a good thing. And a bad thing. I am trying to lose weight (wonder why??), and my reward for every 10 pounds lost is a Sublime Donut. Every workout is worth it in order to have one of those morsels from heaven. I have honestly never had anything like the goodies that Kamal comes up with. I can’t pick just one favorite, but tops on the list are Orange Dreamsicle, Toffee, Strawberries & Cream and the Butter Croissant.

For anyone who lives within 300 miles of Atlanta, RUN, do not walk, to Sublime Donuts!!! It’s worth the trip!

  5. We have a place called VooDoo Donuts in Portland.Looks similar! I love donuts and love that necklace!!! Feel better too and eat lots of yummy donuts!

  6. I’m a bit jealous of that toffee doughnut with caramel chocolate icing. My favorite doughnut is maple frosted. MMM. my own piece of heaven!

    I hope you feel better!

  7. You would post this when I’ve been resisting the urge to make biscuit doughnuts. Not cool hahah :)

    Feel better

  8. I guess 219! lol. Actually I love dougnuts and I have fond memories of always getting a dougnut with my dad when he picked up his weekly lottery ticket in Wisconsin when I was a kid. However, I hate custard or jelly in my doughnuts. SO gross.

Glad you’re feeling better!! Keep on healing.

  9. Welcome back! I had no idea you had been a transplant recipient. How wonderful! My mother had a liver transplant back when I was in high school. It is truly giving the gift of life. Thanks for helping raise awareness.

Oh, and cute necklace! How fun!

  10. Chocolate Frosted Baby!!

  11. I love Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Creme filled….they are heavenly!! We don’t have them in Kansas anymore… :(

  12. Um, peanut butter cup doughnuts? HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!

  13. that necklace is adorable!!

And as for the cue… I guess I’m old school, but my favorite cake donuts are Tim Horton’s Maple Dipped. Go go Canada.

  14. When possible, a cruller is the donut way to go. I doubt I’ll get one over Easter weekend, but with family visiting, I have a good excuse to get a bunch for everyone. Get well for spring! Thanks for the feast for the eyes.

  15. Something about me? I love Blueberry doughnuts. I adore Apple Fritters. They’re both lethal so it’s a rare guilty pleasure to have either. I have more shoes than I can imagine and am willing to admit. AND, I’m grateful for my job and a healthy family! God is good!

  16. I am obsessed with the number 47. It’s not just my favorite number, it’s a hobby.

  17. Bakerella I am glad you are ok!!!! Those necklaces are too cute! I love cake pops the best, red velvet cake, and peanut butter cookies. I wish I could bake like you!!

  18. You should be resting, not making all of us hungry! ;)

Glad to hear that you’re doing better. I’ll be spending my Easter with my family. We have relatives making a five hour drive to have dinner with us, so I hope everything tastes good.

  19. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I love the necklace! … Finally a doughnut that will not add on pounds! Lol

My favorite is chocolate covered from wal-mart bakery … Yelp, Wal-mart! :)

  20. I LOVE that necklace!! Also…I LOVE your blog…We made the Turkey Pops around for my sister’s baby shower back in October!! Her husband is Turkish, so they called the baby (in womb) “Turklette” We thought the Turkey Pops were PERFECT!!! They had baby blue bodies for a baby boy :) …I’ll have to send you the picture sometime!!

  21. I’m glad you’re okay! I was very worried.

My favourite donut flavor is honey dipped. However, if I could try an oreo donut, I think that would quickly change!

  22. Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough couple of weeks. Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy the fine weather that is headed to Altanta this week. :) Yippee!!
This Easter we’re headed up to the D.C area. It’s been 5-years since we’ve been to my in-laws house. Kinda have to go in order to avoid the wrath of guilt as we continue to visit my family several times each year.
Super cute necklaces and as always you are amazingly generous with your giveaways. Thanks and glad you’re back.

  23. donuts…love ’em and i have shared the love with my kids, in fact when my 20 month old son sees a pink box he is bound and determined to get a sprinkled covered treat…so stinkin’ funny. even when the box is empty he wants more. my favorite is a really, really good glazed donut. delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. I love chocolate covered donuts with sprinkles (not that it really helps the taste but it gives a different texture)!!
We will be visiting my family for Easter. I hope you have a great Easter weekend.

I am happy you are feeling better.

  25. Hope you get to feeling better soon! I know how it goes… Since you’re talking donuts, I have to say that my favorite donuts are Shipley’s from Texas. I don’t know how many stores they had when I was little, it wasn’t many, but I do know they had one about two miles from our house and my Dad used to buy them for us. Now that I’m grown up they are all over Houston and my kids love them just as much as I did. We just get the plain glazed donut and OH!!! they are delicious! I’m just outside of Atlanta now, so poor me, I’ll just have to go and try these donuts now. :-)

  26. I LOVE Sublime doughnuts, I went there after your sugar coma post and tried a couple and the strawberry was my favorite. Can’t wait to go back to get some more sugary goodness.

  27. Love the Boston Cream or really just anything with that yummy custard filling.

  28. I’m thankful for SPRING!

  29. I’ve been to the Swarovski factory & store in Austria. Fun stuff!

  33. I have a food blog reading obsession!! I just day to day from food blog to food blog reading, obsessing and craving the delicious food I see!!! And I love your post, Bakerella!!!

  34. Those doughnuts look and sound amazing! I’m now going on a search for a bakery in my area, which is sadly a much more difficult task in this rural area than can be imagined. Hope you are feeling better.

  35. So glad you’re feeling better :) This Easter will be my first with my Son! I can’t wait to have an Easter egg hunt with him – even though he can’t eat the eggs and will have no idea what’s going on… I’ve been waiting for this for too long to put it off another year ;)

  36. I just found you and then you disappeared! So sorry that you were ill and am glad that you are back. Love your cake balls and can’t wait to make some….maybe for Easter treats.

  37. I’ll be visiting Atlanta in May, I cannot wait to try this place! Favorite donut? Devil’s food with chocolate sprinkles.

    Mmmmm….. Donuts!

  38. I am so glad you are feeling better! =)

These donuts look so good! Too bad they don’t deliver! I hope you have a wonderful Easter!!!

  39. I wish I lived closer to these donuts. :) Today we made a family trip to Krispy Kreme. The maddest I have ever seen my one year old was when she was about 10 months and she had a warm doughnut and my husband attempted to take it away from her to break it into bite-sized pieces. She informed him that his behavior was not acceptable – yelling, shaking her fists at him, whole nine yards. Needless to say, the doughnut gets broken before she gets her hands on it now. :)

  40. In 7th grade, my friend and I used to eat Cheetos dipped in chocolate pudding. She recently told me on Facebook that she still eats them…

  41. Ok, so I’m hungry now.

Those necklaces are super rad. Random fact: I took my dog for a walk today in the wind :)

Thanks for the chance to win

  42. I’m in donut coma now just looking at this post! thanks so much. All we have out here is Dunkin and – eh. I do enjoy a good strawberry donut or boston cream donut though… I’m on a mission to find Dunkin’s new boston cream munchkins!

  43. My favorite doughnut will always be the raspberry cream filled bismarck dusted with powdered sugar I would get at my local bakery growing up in a small Idaho-town. So delish. I’ve never tasted another on like it!

  44. OMG! That necklace is adorable!!
My favorite doughnut is anything with chocolate icing! Yum!
My mouth seriously started to water as I perused through your delicious doughnut pictures!

  45. I would love to learn to make donuts but I hate sugar. Ha! Just kidding!

  46. I love pretty much any doughnut that does not have coconut or nuts in it or on it. That necklace is adorable! And I am SO excited that The Pioneer Woman is coming to Charlotte for a book signing!!! You should come with her. Really.

  47. I’m glad you’re feeling better!

Hmmm….something about me…my favorite doughnut eating memory, perhaps? When I was a kid, my grandma (who lives in Vermont) had a huge maple tree in her back yard. Every year, we used to tap it for sap. It never gave up much sap, but it was enough to collect and boil down into a little bit of maple syrup. Just as the syrup was almost done, my grandma would send my sister and I outside with bowls to collect snow. We’d then drizzle the hot maple syrup over the snow and eat the sweet, gooey strips of it with homemade doughnuts and sometimes pickles (hey…it’s traditional).

  48. I am wildly in love with an amazing man named Jared. I didn’t think this level of happiness was possible :)

  49. Oh I love this and a way to have my donuts without the pounds :)

  50. I love that the one you’re giving away is the pink/red one — it’s so cute! I don’t wear much jewelry, but I really like that!

  51. So cute! And I just turned 30 so I need something young and adorable to make me feel less old. :)

  52. Cute necklace! I have never met a donut I didn’t like. My absolute favorite is an apple cider donut. I’m glad they’re only made in the fall, otherwise I’d be huge.

  53. I’m not much on dougnuts but my goodness did that mocha one look good!! I reminded me of a friend of mine who’s arm is covered in tattoos of baked good! She has doughnuts, slices of cake and gooey cinnamon rolls. Oh and ice cream too. Glad that your feeling better.

  54. Glad that you are feeling better, and that is the most adorable necklace I’ve ever seen!

  55. This Easter my daughter is wearing a dress I wore when I was 1 year old. My mom saved some clothes of mine for my daughter. Luckily I have a little girl and she will look precious in my 30 year old hand-me down keepsake!

Oh, and I made brownies with black beans in them. Don’t knock it till you try it!

  56. K-yewt! This Easter I’m doing my usual crazy thing… making 50 crepes for everyone at church before the service. I don’t much like waking up at 6am to do it, but I love seeing the buzz such a simple thing creates, and what better way to celebrate than eating together!

  57. I am a military Mom with three sons. One in the Navy, one going through Infantry basic training right now in the Army and a junior in High School planning to join as soon as he graduates. I am so thankful for all three of my sons and that God choose these three guys to be mine to raise.

  58. Im on a diet so have limited my dounut intake but would love to wear a fat free necklace.

  59. yay glad to hear you are better! my absolute favorite is old-fashioned chocolate Mmmm, but I wouldn’t mind trying the A mocha-donut!

  60. This first thing I wanted to say is your story is AMAZING! I cried when I read it! I’m so glad you are feeling better. :)

My favorite donut is definitely KRISPY KREME GLAZED!!!

    Ebony

  61. I do a killer Julie Andrews impersonation.

I haven’t had donuts that fancy, but there is a local joint that makes the lightest glazed donuts with the perfect amount of frosting. There cake donuts are also great and not too heavy.

  62. I’m grateful to have found myself again. I lost myself, my realy true Allie-essence for a few months… okay 6 months… and I destroyed a lot in the process. But, I’ve taken a step back and found what it really means to be “me” again and that being me is perfect in every way. I’m so grateful for that.

  63. I’m moving to my first apartment next fall.. so desperately trying to learn how to bake and cook on my own. Your blog is so cute and helpful! I’m so glad I found it! ^^

  64. Hi! I loved the necklace, is so cute!
In this Easter I ‘ll make some cookies that I found at Food Blogga to my sister, the Italian Lemon Egg Biscuits. Looks nice and yummy! For my husband, he said “I want your chocolate cake, my favorite”… :)
I live in Brazil, I check your site almost everyday, I looooove! Regards from here to you!
    Regina

  65. I love just plain glazed doughnuts! YUMMO!!!

  66. I love, love, love, love Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Any flavor really, but I usually find myself getting the chocolate covered custard ones! Yummy in my tummy!

  67. Wow! I want to go to Georgia just to try those. And something about me- I can’t wait until your book is out!

  68. So glad you are doing better! I was a bit worried about not seeing an update :) Organ donation is near and dear to my heart. I’ve been touched with the story of two friends – one donated her organs and the other a recipient of the gift of life.
I wish you well and much more success with your blog and your book. You are a huge inspiration to many :)

  69. Me! Me! I would love one. But you don’t have to.

  70. Love love love donuts! Especially Krispy Kreme fresh off the belt!

  71. Hi Bakerella,

First of all, I’m glad that you’re feeling better :-)

Now, something about myself in a bid to win that cute little ring of neck sugar… I’m planning on baking a batch of donut flavoured cupcakes at some point over the next few weeks! yum!

  72. My biggest obsession is my two boys. Hayden (age 3) and Carson (age 2). That might be a little cliche but its the truth. I live and breath for my boys. We love making arts and crafts and baking together.

We actually just made your recipe for the Mini Cheesecakes but I garnished with strawberries instead of cherries. Im pretty sure my boys ate half of them before i could even add the cherries! Thanks for all great ideas!

  73. Woah, those doughnuts look amazing, I seriously wished I live in Georgia. I am a medical school hopeful, but those doughnuts make me want to throw health concerns down the drain (shhhh!). :D

  74. My favorite donuts are the chocolate iced ones or maybe it’s the raspberry filled…no I have to go with chocolate iced ones. There is just something about that icing!!!

  75. I started food blogging after my make-up blog wasn’t going anywhere because I was spending all of my $ on food =)

  76. I’m grateful for my grandfather. He passed away Thursday and we were all by his side. His long fight with cancer allowed him to enjoy (seldomly) a good sweet dessert. He must have passed that on to me. He was a sweet man just like his sweet delicious brownies.

  77. So cute! I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better, too. I’ve been missing my weekly dose of sweetness from you! I love chocolate donuts – oh wait, I love maple bars – oh wait… Krispy Kremes are pretty good… hmmmmm….good question.
    :)

  78. I love love love apple cider doughnuts! Such a childhood memory of growing up in upstate New York!
Interesting Fact: I have become quite popular lately for making your cake pops for everyone occasion and everyone I know! People invite me to events just so I will bring cake pops!

  79. I hope you’re feeling better!

  80. Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

I’m really jealous of the Oreo donut!

  81. The necklace is too cute for words! And what delicious photos of the donuts.

Something about me? Well…I can’t bake. I like to ‘experiment’ with recipes and am notorious for burning cupcakes, destroying baking dishes, and adding ridiculous incredients. Which is why I follow your blog religiously…it gives me hope ;o)

  82. Donuts & I love each other, so much. I really love fritters, but any will do.

  83. This Easter I’m heading home to see my parents and sisters. I’ve been really looking forward to this weekend, especially for all the yummy Easter treats I know my will have prepared.

  84. I love glazed and chocolate glazed donuts the best! Oh, but I do love powder cake donuts, too! Well, I don’t think there is a donut I wouldn’t eat!

  85. What a fantastic idea! I often refer to myself as baker by night because that’s the only time I can seem to fit in my favorite activity! Your website is such an inspiration and for that I thank you :)

  86. I have lived in Portland almost my entire life and just made it to the famous Voodoo Doughnut for the first time a couple weeks ago! I had the bacon maple bar. It is as amazing as you think.

  87. Something about me? Hmmm… I’m making cakeballs tonight, both my ‘big’ bosses birthdays are this week, so cakeballs it is! Only I put way too much frosting in, so I made another cake – so it’s gonna be approximately 7 million cakeballs. Good times!

  88. Something about me? hmm… I have 2 cats, 2 rats, and I would love having 2 dogs. Apparently, I like 2s.

  89. My third kid was born in the car on the way to the hospital. He was the only one I had without drugs, and it was my easiest birth!

  90. Its been a while since I’ve had a great donut but I think my favorites are any that are cream filled. Adorable Necklace.

  91. I’m so glad you’re okay! I was wondering. My favorite doughnut so far is the Krispy Kreme raspberry-filled. I have craved them throughout my pregnancy, but our local KK closed so I’ve had nary a one. Boo. I was due to have our baby yesterday, so I HOPE that on Easter I’m cuddling her and smellin her sweet fuzzy head! Um, while I wear that necklace. :-)

  92. i would love a raspberry jelly filled donut please!

  93. I love your blog & my coworkers love that you brought “cake balls” into my life. Delicious.

  94. Plain old chocolate stuffed with cream would be my favorite donut flavor. I’d love the donut necklace.

  95. I am grateful for my husband and I am so grateful for Easter and the love and forgiveness that Christ sacrificed his life for.

  96. Oh… my… I am obsessed with donuts, can I just tell you? Wow. I am so jealous!! Next time you have a donut party, invite us!

And please, how adorable is that necklace? I want to tell it to shut up, then hug it, then feed it teeny donuts. :)

  97. I too was checking your site and wondering if all was okay or not. Glad you’re up and feeling better. Thanks for sharing about Savannah and your own story. Precious. I agree with Heather, #38, that the Frost Donuts in Mill Creek, N. of Seattle, have a bacon topped maple bar that is out of this world good. You wouldn’t think it but OMG! The Sublime Donuts sounds scrumptiously like Frost’s! Easter Sunday we’re going to be with family at my 86 year old Aunt’s home. She is an amazing woman who has a fuller calendar than most for which I’m grateful!

  98. On Easter I’ll turn 40! I wasn’t so excited about it until my Mom said the alternative is death. In that light, I’ve decided that 40 won’t be to bad. I’ve been blessed with 40 years of amazing family, friends and adventures. I’m glad that they won’t be stopping anytime soon! Oh, and my favorite doughnut is cake with white frosting and coconut on top!!! The doughnut shop around the corner never makes enough of them.

  99. I am so glad that you are feeling better!!

Something fun about me? Today is my 2 year wedding anniversary! YAY! :D The best two years of my life and many more to come!

To celebrate, we are making your Peach Crunch Cake…. our favorite. :)

  100. All of those doughnuts look FANTASTIC! My favorite kind is usually chocolate dipped, and cider mill doughnuts are phenomenal as well. :)

  101. I absolutely love the necklace, and donuts, of course. Thanks for being so inspiring!!!!

  102. Oh, I just totally LOVE chocolate covered creme filled doughnuts – but can’t remember the last time I had one. I suppose though my fave guilty pleasure of all is ICE CREAM – rocky road … YUM!!!!

  103. Hmm, this easter I plan on making my Nieceand her younger sister’s Easter baskets as well as either a yellow cake or a carrot cake for easter as well.^^

  104. I want a donut SO BAD right now!

  105. when i was little my Grandpa McBrayer would take me to the Krispy Kreme on Buford Hwy in Doraville to get my favorite doughnut – the “Tractor Wheel” (also known as the cruller) My Grandpa is no longer with us and my metabolism doesn’t allow many tractor wheels anymore . .but, the two make for a favorite childhood memory!

Thanks for the post and hope you’re well on you’re way to 100%!

  106. I am very grateful for my life the Good Lord has given me.

  107. I love these donuts! Now I am going to have to figure out how to make them. I am totally addicted to food blogs (especially baking ones) and this has all started because I stumbled upon your blog one day. The worst part of all this is that I am trying to lose weight. Maybe I should just stick to Paula Deen’s advice … never trust a skinny cook.

  108. Hi Bakerella!

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your blog/website. I check it almost everyday and even have it saved on my little favorites toolbar. I don’t follow many food/baking blogs, but I always love your cute creations. And I promise I’m not just saying all this because of the necklace you are giving away. All that you have done with your cake pops and other creations has really inspired me to maybe start blogging myself.

    Happy Early Easter!

  109. Err… Turns seven IN about five hours. Maybe I’m more befuddled than I thought. ;-)

  110. Wow…i want a doughnut SO bad right now! Um, my phobia? SPIDERS!

  111. swarovski and donuts? what more do you need?
my fav donut?…malasada…leonards malasada! I am lucky to live hawai’i…I am planning to make laulau with my ‘ohana this easter. I have a talent for making a mess in the kitchen…I own about 19 pairs of shoes…pretty much all but one are slippahs…I think I might have grown into a fear of heights…it’s not life altering but find myself more quisey when I’m peeking over balconies than ever before….my favorite guilty pleasure is my iPhone…there’s an app for that!
p.s. I would guesstimate that there are about 2000+ nuts on the Butter Toffee donut! :)

  112. I always loved lemon filled donuts but no longer indulge due to a dairy allergy…..but would love a little jeweled one more anyways !!! Impulse buys are the best….

  113. Apple fritters are my favorite type of doughnut! The original glaze at Krispy Kreme is a very close second, though..

  114. I’m a traditionalist and love warm, freshly made donuts. That is until I saw the pictures of these donuts. Now I’m in love and have no idea what my favorite donut is. <3

  115. My older child turns seven about five hours. Tonight I’m feeling a little befuddled at where the time has gone.

  116. I love the doughnuts with the white cream frosting inside….mmmm. So I think that Oreo doughnut is the best looking doughnut I’ve ever seen!

  117. This fine Easter I will be baking cakes and all sorts of things. As I am a pastry apprentice. In fact, in the doughnut vein, for Fat tuesday I made paczki (sounds like poonshki) for 14 straight days. They are cream filled polish doughtnuts made with a sweet dough with candied orange bits inside. So for 9 hours a day, everyday, I stood over a fryer and fried, glazed and filled doughtnuts. And I still love them.
PS – go to portland oregon to Voodoo Doughnut. You can even get married there!

  118. I have 64 pairs of shoes. It’s a problem; donuts help. And I want that Atown Mocha bad-boy so bad I can taste it…not really because I’m eating pineapple pizza but you know what I mean :)

  119. My guilty little secret… i just ate some delicious chocolate bunny treats that I was supposed to put in eggs for my kids to find on Easter… OOPS ;)

  120. Love that necklace!! Those doughnuts look SO good, especially the oreo and mocha ones! I am making some Easter cake pops tomorrow…can’t wait!

  121. I love it!! Love your blog, but I’ve never commented. You do amazing work!

  122. I love donuts! My friend use to work at Dunkin Donuts, so I got to play around and fill donuts. It takes about 4-5 fills from the machine for them to burst. I think we had a little too much fun! :)

  123. I never met a doughnut I didn’t like, but I’m quite fond of Shipley’s plain glazed. If I go the right way, it’s totally on my way to work. I’m looking at your photos cursing the fact that they’re closed on Mondays right now.

  124. WOW! those look delish! To bad Orange County is nowhere near Atlanta! I found your site yesterday and am totally excited to make some pops for my daughters first birthday!

  125. Doughnuts are actually a really guilty pleasure of mine. I almost don’t enjoy them because I feel so guilty for eating one! We have a Krispy Kreme and I won’t go near it because I can’t just order one, I get like 4. lol!

  126. Mmmmm….forbidden donut….oh sorry. Something about me- I wen to see Phantom of the Opera last night with my husband. It was AMAZING!!!

  127. id planned to cook this weekend past, but i got sick aswell..not as badly as you, just a cold. But then i went to a party and it got worse (obviously, i didnt expect it to get better but still) so now i cant cook this week for easter and im feeling slightly depressed. But at least it means no school : )

  128. My favorite doughnut used to be the white cream filled doughnut at Dunkin Donuts. Then, they started closing down the shops in Quebec; I was so sad! But then I came to Japan and Mr Donuts has this “Angel cream” donut that is EXACTLY like the one I used to love!! Too bad I’m leaving Japan…

  129. wow, i’m not sure which looks better, the cutest necklace or those amazing looking doughnuts!!

  130. Glad to hear you are feeling better! This necklace is super cute! I absolutely love Krispy Kreme doughnuts, the glazed one with chocolate icing on top if my favorite!

  131. Glad your back! Hmmm, I guess I’m a purist when it comes to doughnuts, I like the one with chocolate frosting. I always eat the bottom doughy part, and then eat the top so there is a higher frosting to dough ratio. I’ve only met one other person who shares my weird doughnut-eating strategy!

  132. Nothing beats a doughnut with maple icing :)

  133. Every time I gave birth to a child, my husband had to bring me chocolate covered, bavarian creme doughnuts. One dozen all to myself.

  134. Apple cider donuts!

  135. I live walking distance from two donut shops and I see this being dangerous tomorrow morning!

My favorite donut is a chocolate glazed old fashioned donut, and I used to be afraid of both stairs and elevators. Made for some creative thinking from my parents!

  136. My favorite doughnut is Boston Cream Pie!

  137. Ooooh. My fave donut is the boston cream. which isn’t really a ‘donut.’ And easter we’ll be doing an egg hunt w/ the in-laws! wonder if donut holes will fit inside?

    Feel better.

  138. I will be working this Easter which is OK with me. I don’t celebrate Easter, so if my working that day allows my co-workers to do something with their families, then I’m all for it!

  139. Those donuts looks amazing! I hope you feel better soon!

  140. I love raspberry filled but it’s been a long time since I’ve had a good one of those. I also recently started liking the chocolate glazed cake donuts. Never tried them before and once I did I was hooked. Good for my taste buds… bad for my love handles.

  141. I’m glad you are feeling better. I read your story. You are an inspiration!! Love your site…you go the extra mile and then some. THANKS

  142. Me and my friends back in high school used to have movie/video game nights, and almost every time we would decide we were hungry and go on a midnight Walmart run for doughnuts and Mountain Dew. One of my favorite memories.

  143. I absolutely love doughnuts…but b/c my hips and thighs don’t love them too much, I try to stay away from them :) I think this necklace would be one doughnut that my body could handle!

  144. I was so worried about you

  145. I am embarassed to admit that this post about donuts make me want to pack up and travel to this shop. I live in WI so that’s a long way for a donut!

  146. I wish Costco made donuts. Seriously, how amazing would they be? I imagine the biggest most cream-filled donuts ever. Mmm.

  147. Glad you are doing better! Happy Easter! Cute necklace… good luck everyone!

  148. Oh man do those look good! I just gained a ton of weight by seeing those pics of you taking all those bites ;~)

Of course I may just have to take a road trip and go get some of my own. So much for getting ready for that bathing suit season that is soon upon us! HA!

  149. Fabulous — all the yummies of a cupcake in a doughnut! Who’d have thought of that…
Easter will be with neighbors & kids. Lots of food, lots of fun. And maybe doughnuts!

  150. I am so glad you are feeling better!

I would love to win…O don’t really have a fave doughnut flavor, but I am a big fan of cake doughnuts! They are so dense and packed with flavor….absolutely love them.

I won’t be doing anything really for Easter. My sister is having a birthday so I am in the midst of upgrading my violin to send to her as a gift. After so many years of not playing and struggling to give it to her (lots of cherished memories with that violin), I thought it would be wonderful to give it to someone who is taking up the instrument. Hopefully she will love it as much as I do. :)

  151. I’m currently laying on the floor of my apartment because I’m moving in 2 weeks and have nothing to sit on.

I found an AH-MAZING couch yesterday and fell in love and ordered it. Without thinking that it actually might not fit through the new apartment’s front door.

I’m having trouble sleeping and am dreading all of the math I’m going to need to do to figure it out.

  152. i’m going to have to check them out!

  153. Something about myself… Doughnuts were my weakness during my last pregnancy. I could rationalize that no one could tell since I was pregnant. Now, with a 5 month old and a doughnut tummy/arms/face, I’m suddenly seeing the result of my cravings. But dang they were good. Maybe I should stick to doughnut necklaces until my elliptical and I catch up to my doughnut-induced pudge.

  154. that necklace is delicious! i’m thankful for blueberry cake donuts. and donuts from the fractured prune (MD area)…must google. and now that i’m a dallasite, i’m a sucker for yummy donuts in park cities. delicious!

  155. Yummy! Those necklaces are too cute.

For Easter this year I’m planning to make flower cookie pops with my Wilton stackable flower cookie cutter. It will be my first attempt at both cookie pops and royal icing – wish me luck!

  156. I love glazed doughnuts and Boston Cream doughnuts! mmmmmmmmm…. and those are such cute necklaces! I sure hope you’re feeling a million times better :)

  157. I wish I could taste this Oreo doughtnut. oh my
I just love oreo, seems a perfect combination!

  158. I love the necklace and love any donut!!! Well maybe chocolate donuts would be on the top of the list.

  159. Hmmm, I may suddenly need to go visit my family in GA!!! Those look good!!!

  160. Packing for Spring Break and counting down the days (3) until we are at Top Pot doughnuts in Seattle!!
    Raspberry-Glazed Chocolate Old-Fashioned, here I come :)

  161. i’m obsessed with doughnuts and would love a sparkly one to love all the time!

  162. Well, I love strawberry filled donuts. And I’m addicted to blogs lately. Can’t get enough of reading about people and their interests.

  163. Honestly, I didn’t realize it was almost Easter. My fav. guilty pleasure has to be really bad reality tv…the kind of stuff that you can’t help but laugh at!

  164. I’m so sorry to hear you have been unwell. Glad to hear you are better – welcome back!

This Easter my sister and I are taking it easy on ourselves and having our boyfriends pick up Indian take out!

  165. I’m desperate to try ALL of these donuts! I need to make a trip out to Atlanta ASAP!

  166. This Easter we will be moving into our new house! Recently my husban separated from the military and we made our way back to the Midwest to be by family. After 4 months of living with my parents, we are happy to have a new home to settle into. Can’t wait to start baking!! Your site is a great inspiration, keep up the great work!

  167. I collect hippos! I even have a tattoo of a hippo on my shoulder. I think winning and wearing that doughnut necklace would make my hippo tattoo VERY happy. =)

  168. Those donuts look amazing, but I gave up a while ago trying to find donuts that don’t have some sort of soy in them (I have a soy allergy). I sometimes make my own and my daughter and I made the best apple cider donuts!!! They were addicting!

  169. Hihi!
I’m a college student that loves to cook on a budget. I’m also in love with anything mint chocolate and pumpkin, although perhaps not together. Please don’t get sick again– I missed you’re hunger-inducing blog posts.. =)
    <3<3

  170. Adorable necklace! My favorite doughnut? Anything witht he words Krispy Kream attached to it!

  171. Hope you continue to get well!! Those donuts were gorgeous!

  172. My favorite donut? Whatever you got. :) I love donuts, but seriously my favorite is a french crueller, NOT from KK. Lightly sweet, airy light texture, melt in your mouth…..mmmmm.

  173. I love doughnuts, though simple glazed ones will always be my favorite, and I’m glad you’re feeling better!

And yesterday was my birthday celebration and I GOT A KATANA. It needs a doughnut necklace to go with it. Yes, I’m a dork. I’m not ashamed.

  174. Not a big doughnut eater, but did make a birthday cake out of stacked sprinkled doughnut holes for a friend. Went to three dougnut places before I found the right kind of sprinkles. Always did love a challenge. Love your website!!

  175. Atlanta has such a great junk food scene! I live in A2, Mi so the A doughnut is perfect, haha! But our doughnut scene is pretty sad, I think the gas station or grocery store is about all we have going on. Anyways, thanks for this giveaway! I’m torn between the red velvet and the s’more doughnut, they both look amazing!

  176. This Easter I will be making three family favorite desserts in honor of the two grandparents I have lost so far this year and my grandmother who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Apple Pie, Checkerboard Cake, and Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. It’s amazing how so many memories can be formed around baked goods!!!

  177. OMG, I need that necklace! Any doughnut is a good one in my book.

  178. MMM….I had a doughnut craving the other day too. Gotta love those apple fritters!

  179. I am grateful for my 15 month daughter who was born with hydrocephalus. She amazes us daily!

  180. I love donunts!

  181. Glad to hear you are feeling better! I was having bakerella withdraws.

My favorite doughnut is any with sprinkles!

  182. I’m glad you are feeling better. As for donuts just give me an apple fritter.
    Mimi

  183. I am pretty sure this necklace is was made for me. I love donuts even more than I love my boyfriend (don’t tell him)!

    Cherry iced are my favorite!

  184. Those necklaces are too adorable! And so are the Sublime dougnuts! Mmm… that wild berry fritter looks amazing. So does the oreo, and the butter toffee… ok fine, they all look amazingly delicious!

If I had to choose a favorite doughnut, I would have to say raspberry filled.

  185. I love all of the donuts at the local bakery! People line up around the block to get in there on Saturday mornings! My favorite would have to be their glazed donuts- they are absolutely amazing!

  186. That necklace is awesome plus those donuts look soooooo good.

  187. Oh, how cute! I really want that oreo donut!

  188. Cutest necklace EVAR.

Random fact about myself: I often peel grapes before I eat them.

  189. I am glad to hear you’re feeling better – hurray for organ donors too! Those donuts look divine…Australia doesn’t do donuts so well unfortunately. That necklace could certainly make up for that though!

  190. Let’s see…this Easter, ,y daughter’s biggest wish is to go to Church. Yikes! I’m not a churchy person, but I figure it’ll be fun to take her. Our new priest is from Nigeria, and he’s supposed to be pretty awesome.
On an unrelated note, my phobia is this…ZOMBIES! Absolutely petrifies me. I blame the Thriller video, and that Roswell video from the same era. Waaah! I think I just scared myself. :S

Love your site! Unless you start featuring zombies…

  191. My whole family loves donuts and I am actually looking for healthy recipes to try baking in the oven. Hope that you are feeling better!!! I come to your site everyday!!

  192. I think my favorite doughnut flavor is either Boston cream or the classic krispy kreme glazed.

  193. I just signed up to be a bone marrow donor…I really hope I can help someone the way you were helped :)

  194. I love maple bars though it’s been years since I’ve had one. I’m glad you’re home and on the mend.

  195. We are going camping for Easter with our kids this year. It is our first camping trip with both kids (baby is 5months!). After looking at those doughnuts…I want to go to Sublime. Too bad it is not close by!

  196. What a cute necklace, very sweet. My favourite donut? Definitely a custard filled one, yum.

  197. I love this site and I come often. I usually don’t comment, because I’m shy, its funny but true. I had to say that I am so glad you are doing well. That you are having your sweet 16. My niece is 8 years old and 2 years ago she became sick and it was cancer. She had a liver transplant and today she is so full of life. She is back on a donor list, she needs a new liver and kidneys, but she’s alive and bouncing and sweet. I’m grateful to have her. I can’t wait to send her something sweet on her second sweet 16. Thank you so much. (Off to make those donor pops!)

  198. How adorable!!! Well, something about myself, I just recently discovered my hidden talent… BAKING and taking photos of the goodies I bake. My friends and family are thrilled as am I. Where was this talent 6 years ago when I was in the Military starving. Haha.

  199. Love old fashion nuts…. I am hanging out with my husbands college friend this next weekend and then spending Easter brunch with my parents and toasting life and happiness… as my little baby boy will be 5 months…. Already.
Glad you are doing Ok and feeling better.
