Where I shop…

Cake Art Party Store! I started going here about two years ago when the baking and cake decorating bug bit me. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed. Actually, I’m still overwhelmed. There’s so much stuff I don’t know… don’t even have a clue about… but I feel like I learn something new every single time I visit. Unfortunately, I can’t do that very often because this store makes me spend money.

Cake Art Party Store

Like on these things. I’m serious… this place is dangerous. I think I get a sugar high or something when I walk in … my heart starts racing … I start picking random stuff up. And when I get home, bags full… I’m like, what just happened.

Cake Art Party Store

But, when you see all these… in one place. You start thinking… do I have enough yellow sprinkles. I can’t remember. Okay, get some more and get some blue ones, and red ones while you’re at it.

Cake Art Party Store

And then, you start thinking that you can’t live without blue teddy bear sprinkles or green palm tree sprinkles, or pink pigs. And what if someone has a baby… I need those baby sprinkles or wait, boys like cupcakes… what about helmet and football sprinkles. You see where I’m going. Let’s just say that I have accumulated my fair share of sprinkles.

The funny thing is … I hardly ever use them on cupcakes or cakes. It just makes me feel good knowing I have them just in case. I know … weird! But, they do come in handy when it comes to decorating cake pops, so that’s how I justify it.

Cake Art Party Store

You can even buy them in bags!

Cake Art Party Store

Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros… Airbrush! Pretty colors, though.

Cake Art Party Store

Speaking of colors… did you know you can buy rolled fondant that is already tinted?

I started doing this recently with red fondant because it is seriously a pain to tint it yourself and get it a deep red color.

Cake Art Party Store

Now, a lot of people don’t like the taste of fondant, they just like the look of it from a visual perspective. So, if you just want to experiment, then play around and buy it pre-made. Just don’t get this much. You can stick with the 1 pound packages.

Or if you really want, make some from scratch. I hear marshmallow fondant is pretty good.

Cake Art Party Store
Anyone need 25 lbs of buttercream frosting?

Cake Art Party Store

Or tinted buttercream?

Cake Art Party Store

Not me. I like to make my own buttercream and tint it myself. Yummy!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some petit four icing? Just snip the tip and go. Great for beginners.

Cake Art Party Store

Marzipan… I haven’t dabbled in this stuff yet, but I do like saying the name. Marzipan!

Cake Art Party Store

Check this out! This might just be the best part of the store. Pans! Round ones, oval ones, heart-shaped ones, square ones! And in graduated sizes, too! And different heights! Help me, please.

Cake Art Party Store

Tools. I love tools. Offset spatulas and flat spatulas. Thank you.

Cake Art Party Store

Inside these little trays are every decorating tip you can think of and some you can’t. Grab some disposable bags and couplers and you’re set.

Cake Art Party Store

There’s so much stuff in the store that you can miss little things like this. Petal dust and luster dust… I think I’m in love. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Cake Art Party Store

Need to stack a big cake? Sorry, I can’t help you… haven’t done that.

Cake Art Party Store

Mine are little and usually just end up on cake boards like these.

Cake Art Party Store

And sometimes, they get put in cake boxes. I love cake boxes. Especially the tiny ones.
Little cakes in little boxes are just the cutest!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some party supplies? They have that, too.

Cake Art Party Store

Baking cups for boys and girls.

Cake Art Party Store

Tons and tons of plastic cake toppers. I’ve never bought anything down this aisle…

Cake Art Party Store

But, this one made me laugh so hard, I almost bought it for a Mother’s Day cake. Then, I pictured myself on Cake Wrecks and stopped myself. :)

Cake Art Party Store

Father’s Day is around the corner, though…

Cake Art Party Store

Almost done… hang in there. Cookie cutters are always fun to have.

Cake Art Party Store

And so are these. I have this set of dual sided graduated cutters. I love them and they come in super handy when I make fondant covered cupcakes.

Cake Art Party Store

Gadgets galore! I can’t stand in this section too long because my pantry just isn’t big enough.

And guess what… that’s just the half of it. Actually, the 1/8th of it. I wish I could show you everything.
Coming soon… candy stuff!

Hope you guys liked looking at all that stuff and thanks Cake Art for letting me show everyone that there’s a much bigger cake world than the 9 inch cake pans I used to buy in the grocery store. And guess what guys… most of it’s easier than you think.

  7. I would love to go to that store. Thanks so much for sharing pictures. I think I was holding my breath the whole time I was scrolling through the pictures. Next time we travel to Atlanta we must go to this store. I used to live in Suwanee, GA only 30 minutes away. Argh! I love looking for gluten free sprinkles for my litle boy. I remember once you posted about some, and I went out and bought the ones you reviewed. My 2 little girls can eat any sprinkles they can get their hands on and would love all 20 bottles of sprinkles you are giving away!

  8. I just used 123 ABC sprinkles on mini cupcakes for school. My favorite tool is a Pampered Chef mix-n-scrape spatula. I use it nearly daily!

  9. Wait, what was the question? I’m still thinking about all the sprinkles!! Fun, fun!

  10. O….M….G….!!!!!
I need to win the lottery before entering this heavenly place!

I would LOVE airplane sprinkles…I am a flight attendant..and bringing sprinkled airplane cupcakes to work would be cool!

OK..going back to check the store site and see where the closest store is to Vancouver Canada!

  11. WOAH! What a great store! Where is it? I need to go set up camp in one of those aisles…

My favorite baking tool is my pastry cutter. I always use it over my food processor when I can, because I like to feel my baked goods, and find that I make better pie and tart crusts, and also biscuits when I do it all by hand.

  12. That store is amazing! Now if they only made half-naked dudes in speedos in sprinkle form…

  13. I think my favorite thing that i have found was my watermelon candy sprinkles YUMMY!!
    Jenni6981@yahoo.com

  14. I love sprinkles, too! At the end of every holiday, I rush to the store to get their after holiday stuff on sale. There are usually some holiday sprinkles I can get at 75% off. My four year old loves the “sprinkle” job!

  15. Oh I love sprinkles! And I’ve been wanting to try some of the glittery sugars… that’s my goal for next week! haha
    http://notjustanotherjennifer.blogspot.com/

  16. I don’t do much baking – it’s a science and I’m an artsy person. If it comes in a box I can bake it. That’s why I love the cake pops – they make me look much cooler than I am! So I would have to say box recipes and lollipop sticks are my favorite baking tools!

  17. I’m glad that I’ve only shopped online at cake art party store…at least there’s some control if you don’t know what you’re missing! As far as sprinkles that I love…The rainbow coated chips are a must have!

    http://www.tylerandholly.blogpsot.com

  18. My favorite baking item(s) are my new candy molds.
    shelby.h.rice@gmail.com

  19. Picking a favorite is hard. A silpat? An ice cream scoop (for equal-sized cookies)? What has changed my baking life the most is probably an off-set spatula. Who knew it could be so much better than a regular spatula?

    jennifer(dot)pope(at)gmail(dot)com

  20. That place is awesome! I always say I have more fun shopping for kitchen tools than for clothes! My favourite tool? It has to be my spatulas, both metal and rubber ones. They have so many uses!

  21. I would be lost without my kitchenaid mixer. Seriously.

  22. That store… is AMAZING!!!!
My fav baking tool is my brand new flame red stand mixer! Besides that is the little melon baller scoop i bought, makes perfect little cookies and GREAT for making my cake pops uniform.

  23. oooh! I would like to find some safety pin sprinkles!

Question…do you have any ideas for baby shower cake pops??? I’d love to see what you could come up with!

  24. I wish we had stores like that here! I have to be content with the internet, which is just not the same. My favourite baking tool is my dough scraper.(is that even the right word?) It makes it so much easier to deal with the dough when i am baking bread.
    annsja@yahoo.com

  25. Oh how I wish I lived in GA just for that delightful store alone!! I love love love cake pans of all shapes and sizes. Sprinkles rule too!

  26. This place is nirvana! Wish it wasn’t 2000 miles away.

My favorite tool is the ziplock bag… use for frosting and filling cupcake tins with batter.

  27. That’s awesome! do they have sprinkles that are shaped like tools?

    doopysmiles2@yahoo.com

    Jane

  28. sprinkles are a girl’s best friend, aren’t they?!?
I love all sprinkles..it’d be great to get some ‘chemistry’ sprinkles (not sure what that’d be, but…..) enter me anyway!! PLEAse?

  30. I think I would start having anxiety attacks going into that place!..what to pick…not enough money…ahhhh!

Favorite tool…oh gosh..by far my Pink Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer…I named her Beatrice. Plus I found wonderful cupcake wrappers after searching them for a year…come to find out they are nut cups..who knew? They are those french pleated cups…that everyone except me has! So I ordered some!

  31. I can’t live without my rubber spatulas! Love your blog!!
    neilandsarabeth@msn.com

  32. I love little cookie cutters, like the ones from William & Sonoma. They are nice to use on cheese too to decorate on crackers!

    jannieusa@hotmail.com

  33. Cookie cutters! I’m not really up to date with my sprinkles….all I have are the classic multicolored round ones. They come in handy. I’ve used them….once.

  34. Wow, I just picked up my mouth from the floor! That store looks awesome. I could definitely spend hours there! I’m so envious – I really want to try the Americolor food coloring.

  35. I love my offset spatula. And what an amazing store!!

  36. I’m amazed at all of the amazing things that were in the 1/8th of the store that you showed! I wish I had one nearby. I LOVE to use fun sprinkles on my chocolate covered pretzels. Shopping in that store could be a dangerous thing! Thanks for sharing! :) Whitney kevinwhitneyjordan@hotmail.com

  37. I love your site and I think my favorite thing are pearl sprinkles. They make anything look fancy.

    redhead8188@hotmail.com

  38. Wow that store is a dream come true. I have to make it there someday, and bring lots of cash…wow! Tks for sharing. My favorite tool is my kitchen aid! I also would love to find little car shaped sprinkles….
    alessandracw@gmail.com

  39. I need to go to this place. And soon. I never knew such a thing even existed!

I’d have to say my favorite baking items are my flat, air bake cookie sheets. For YEARS I delt with lop-sided cookies due to the cookie sheet *popping* in the oven. I saw the flat, air bake sheets at the store one day and thought, “Well that’s just silly. When the sheet pops the cookies will run right off the side!” Someone then informed me that those God-send of a cookie sheet DON’T pop! How awesome. Definitely my favorite baking item now!!

  40. I love my Winnie the Pooh cookie cutters, they’re super cute!:) Just like all those sprinkles in the pictures..=)

  41. Defintely my offset spatula!!

  42. OMG! That store looks dangerous! I’m looking for all things shark related- sprinkles, pans, etc.

  43. I think some of the best stuff is just the standards. A good pan, offset spatula, bag with tips and something special on top like SPRINKLES!

I’m not sure I’d ever make it out of that store. So much to look at and get.

    Kimtazo@gmail.com

  44. Wow! What a store! I need to make a trip there to Georgia I guess! My new favorite tool to use are the edible pens to talked about a while back. I use them all the time now!

  53. i would love love love some tractor shaped sprinkles for my little tractor loving boy!

    your post made me drooool!

  54. AAH! I need to go to that store! I’m really excited to move into my new apartment in September where I’ll actually HAVE kitchen space. I love baking, but I’m so disgusted by my current kitchen that I can’t bring myself to make anything. I’ve been pestering my mom on all the kitchen things I want when I move. ^^;

My favorite baking tool is my big glass mixing bowl. My mom gave it to me when I moved away for college (though I really think she just wanted an excuse to buy a new crystal one from Princess House). I use it for nearly everything.

The small crunchy ball sprinkles are my favorite, but I’ve been having a hard time finding them anywhere, which is ridiculous because I live in a big city. :( I love rolling ice cream in them!

    mochibuni@gmail.com

  55. Wow, I think my eyes got wider as I scrolled down the page! And honestly, I really love my set of offset spatulas. I can’t believe people would try to ice a cake, cookie, etc with anything else!

    stephensonjessica@mac.com

  56. I just recently bought myself a pastry blender and it makes things to much easier! I am also addicted to sprinkles myself, it drives my husband crazy when I come home with a container of sprinkles because I usually have the same ones somewhere never opened!

    lanasouth@yahoo.com

  63. That store looks Fab!

I love food paste. I love all the colors that you can work with. So fun.

  64. Offset spatulas make frosting cakes and cupcakes so much easier! Less fingers accidentally getting in the frosting (not that I don’t enjoy a finger in the frosting every now and then).

  65. my favorite thing definitely has to be baking cups, especially gold baking cups, im also in love with stand mixers in pink or baby blue because they remind me of the 50’s, and my favorite thing is to put sprinkles on my cupcakes, i actually want to get a tattoo of sprinkles and a bag of sugar, hopefully that gives away who this is ;)this blog got me really excited haha
    uninspiredd@gmail.com is my email

  66. That store definitely looks like heaven. LOL.

    pinkpugink@yahoo.com

  79. I love the tinted (red & black) fondant. I wish we had a cake/candy supply store around here like you have in GA. I end up running around to 4 different stores in order to get everything I need. I have yet to find a place where I can buy a good quality pre-tinted red & black buttercream. I need to order some from Dixie's Icings.

    Thanks for sharing!

  86. My mother has a load of sprinkles, but we always run out becuase i’m always using them for cookies or cupcakes, or something. 88. Favorite baking tool? Easy. Having two ovens. Don’t know how I lived without them. arosstx@sbcglobal.net

  89. My favorite decorating tool are disposable icing bags from Wilton. Side note: The Wilton Tent Sale starts on May 29th. Have you ever been? It’s fabulous!

  101. There is nothing like this store in New Zealand! I order most of my cake supplies online, but my cake leveler is my most useful can’t-live-without-you tool. The discovery of candy molds almost made my heart furiously flutter as well.

  111. I absolutely love sprinkles! Looks beautiful in the kitchen, and can make any cake something special. Here in Sweden I don’t think we have stores like that. Makes me kind of sad.

  112. I need to visit GA just to go to that store. My tool would have to be my dad. I love to decorate but just can’t do the baking part. So my dad bakes them for me and get to do the fun stuff.

    http://www.laughteralways.blogspot.com

  113. I can’t believe that I used to do any type of baking without parchment paper! It’s a lifesaver :)

    alliewhoo@yahoo.com

  126. I lost all my cookie cutters on my last move! I wept for days….

Not really, but it was a LOT of cookie cutters!

  127. Boy am I glad we don’t have a store like that around here! I would be in big trouble!

Favorite baking tool is a #3 Wilton writing tip. Use it all the time.

  128. Hmmm, I ? my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I use it in almost every baking endevor. The bread hook is my fave!

  129. Silpats!! Love ’em! I also love sprinkles…
That store looks like heaven on earth.

  130. How Fun!!! My Children would love this!!!

  131. Wow, I’m soooo jealous that you live near that baking store! I probably would have spent a lot of money by now!

My favorite tool to use is the Cake Leveler! No matter how even I think I spread the batter, or even when I use the cake strips outside of the pan, the cake is never completely leveled. I don’t have a very good hand to level it with a serrated baker’s knife, so the leveler is nifty and perfect to use!

  132. Cookie cutters. I’m an addict. It’s a real sickness. kmg@sunflower.com

  133. I wish we had something like this in Chicago.. or maybe we do and I still haven’t discovered it yet :o)

I absolutely cannot bake cupcakes without my cookie scoop.. it allows me to perfectly scoop out exact portions for even cupcakes :)

  134. How has this store been in Tucker and I not know of it….

  135. How I wish we have a store like that out where I live. My favorite baking tool are all of my cookie cutters. I have valuable drawer space where my husband pulls on thinking that there is something in there better than cookie cutters. I have probably every cookie cutter shape you could think of. I love me some sugar cookies.

  136. I’m drooling over that store! How amazing!

I would have to say candy molds! (and the fillings!)

  137. I was totally drooling reading this post! I love sprinkles!! Well actually, I drool over just about every post of yours! LOVE your blog! I aspire to try many of the creative things you have made – thanks so much for sharing your spunk & talent! Since I'm a beginner, I'm pretty happy with my huge star tip for cupcakes & also my disposable piping bags.. so easy!

  138. My favorite tool is my spinner. Don’t know the technical name for it, but it’s like a large lazy susan which makes decorating my round cakes easy. I’m definitely am amateur cake decorator, but I enjoy it and enjoy learning new things. Would LOVE some sprinkles to add to my collection.

  139. I’m so jealous! Our good cake shop closed down because it was in a crappy area of town :(
The thing I couldn’t live without in the kitchen? My 8 year old, he’s a wonderful helper :D

  140. Wow, that store looks amazing! Too bad I live 2500 miles away! My favorite newly discovered baking item is parchment paper. I know it’s been around forever, but I just never believed it was worth it until I tried it – such beautiful cookies, and even helps my cheesecakes come out clean.

  141. I would looove some new sprinkles! That shop looks amazing; we have one near us but it doesn’t look half as big!

  142. I am just in love with sprinkles. But my dd loves to eat them out of a bowl. She skips the Ice cream and eats just the sprinkles.

  143. 20 kinds of sprinkles? I can’t even imagine. I love my fondant smoother (is that the right name) it helps me out when I cover cakes… I also love my kitchenaid… otherwise making that mashmallow fondant would be crazy.

  144. I’m so glad that store isn’t near me. I don’t need temptation that close to me.

    I would love some sprinkles!

  145. I see that there is a road trip in my future. Oh hubby…

  146. ooooooooo… pretty!

I started saving tons of money when the cake decorating store near us closed!

My favorite baking implement is: for cakes — my cake saw. For cupcakes and muffins: my stoneware cupcake tin.

    rainrose@me.com

  147. I’m going to have to drool over that kind of assortment for a while! What a heaven for bakers! I love using candy melts, there are so many things to do with them. As for sprinkes, I wish I could find some that have to do with swimming. Suits, goggles, fins…how cute would those be?

  148. Ohh, I wish I lived close enough to visit in person!! My favorite tools have to be cookie cutters. I use them on cookies, brownies, cakes…. really, anything I can possibly stamp out. And I’d love to find some of those silver BB-looking sprinkles. I remember using them exactly once, and have never seen them available after that :(

  149. I love the raised spatulas for icing. These have saved me many a knuckle-drag through the decor!

  150. I use my little off-set spatula for everything!

  151. My favorite cake decorating tool is your blog. After reading one of your posts, I suddenly feel like I can actually do this!!! And even more, you furnish the creativity that I’m lacking!! Very valuable tools!!!

  152. Thanks for sharing this gem of a store! I didn’t even know it existed. I’ll be going very soon.

Hmm, it’s hard to choose a favorite item. My grandmother’s nut grinder is special. We use it to make almond cookies all the time. I really love every utensil, container, and appliance in my kitchen. It is my favorite room in the house.

What I still need are every color of jimmie/jimmy. I never seem to have them all at the same time.

    :)

  153. WOW!!! It is a good thing that I don’t live anywhere near that store! I could see our household budget going down the drain ;)

  154. what a wonderful store!! my favorite baking tool is my pampered chef rubber scrapey, there really is no imitation for it.

  155. wow that store looks amazing – possibly even better in selection than my local seattle store, Home Cake Deocrating:

    http://seattlebonvivant.typepad.com/seattle_bon_vivant/2005/03/home_cake_decor.html

However, I’m certain my local store has prices that can’t be beat!

My favorite decorating item is something you can’t see or taste once your done using it! Whip aid! It’s a gelatin based powder that I put in fresh whipping cream when it’s just getting to soft peak. Once I’m done whipping the cream, this stuff keeps it from weeping! Whipped cream frosting, anyone????

  156. Wow! It is a good thing I did not know about this store when I lived in Atlanta. Oh the trouble I would have been in! :-)

My favorite baking tool is the baking pan. There are so many different things you can do with a single pan – especially when you get creative. Although, my spatula spoon is pretty cool too!

    jmroth01@gmail.com

  157. Great photos! What a great way to tell all of us about the possibilities.

I love my spatulas, especially when you get to lick the batter off of them (I mean let my kids lick the batter off of them) when the cake/brownies/cookies are finished. :)

Your creations are still beautiful, by the way!

  158. I do not know how I made cookies before discovering Parchment Paper and my extra large spatula.

  159. You are an inspiration to me! Thank you for sharing yourself and your talent. I LOVE to (as my husband says) “stalk your website” – ha! My favorite baking tool at the moment is my baking stone. My kids and I have been enjoying baking giant chocolate chip cookies for family and friends.

    Renee at: ggmommy@charter.net

  160. My favorite baking item is definitely my cookie scoop that I use to scoop up my dough. I also use it for truffles and cake balls, too.

  161. My favorite baking item is our brand new convection oven. My cake tester is a close second. ;)

  162. Great photos! What a great way to tell all of us about the possibilities.

I love my spatulas, especially when you get to lick the batter off of them (I mean let my kids lick the batter off of them) when the cake/brownies/cookies are finished. :)

  163. That store looks heavenly! I think my favortie baking gadget is my pastry bag and decorating tips.

  164. Love, love, love spring form pans because they mean CHEESECAKE!

  165. Ooooh, I shouldn’t be let loose in that store (or a fabric store, or craft store, or hardware store…) because I can’t control myself. I buy all the pretty things I can grab “just in case”.

My 2 yr old also has an affinity for sprinkles. In fact, it’s often hard to tell if there even is a cupcake or cookie underneath them all!

    Pick me, please!! :)

  166. I don’t do as much baking as I’d like, but I drooled over the rows of colored sprinkles and frosting! I love the bright colors! I love my spatula though…small steps, small steps!

  171. I love my Silpat~ I would love to add to my growing collection of sprinkles!

  172. Great site, love your ideas! My favorite tools are the tiny Wilton cookie cutters. Very fun to use to cut shapes out of rolled-flat gummy candies for use decorating cupcakes or cakes. Keep your ideas coming; made the cupcake pops and Paula Dean flourless chocolate cake for a recent party–huge hit!

  173. I love my icing spatula. It’s the most useful tool in cake decorating!

    kteedwards@gmail.com

  174. Right now I’m really into piping frosting onto cupcakes and of course adding fun sprinkles.

  175. The baking tool I couldn’t do without right now is probably my extra-long spatula that reaches alllll the way to the bottom of my KitchenAid mixer bowl. Comes in really handy with large-volume, dense batters, like my pound cakes.

And I LOVE Cake Art!! I had no idea you were anywhere remotely near the Atlanta area! I grew up going there with my mom. I now live out of the area, but I’m planning a visit to Cake Art…I mean, my parents.

  176. Wow! That store is awesome!! I might have to plan a trip down to see it!
I think my favorite thing is my piping bag! I am having so much fun with it right now!
Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  177. My favorite thing to decorate with is buttercream!!

    kaycesv@msn.com

  178. I’m not much a baker but I love supplies of all kinds so this post really makes me want to bake more! Also, it makes me really hungry for cupcakes.

  179. Oh I love sprinkles! I totally get why you don’t have enough! I cannot live without my parchment paper!

  180. That would have to be my cup cake carrier! I have 2 a pink and a red:)

  181. Not an original answer, but my Kitchen Aid is IT! It’s just a kitchen necessity in about everything, certainly baking. No sprinkles store here. Live in the boonies. Blessings, Shay

  182. I love my offset spatula . . . but I think I could become addicted to sprinkles and nice cupcake papers since coming to your site!
    -Karen F.

  183. What an INCREDIBLE store!!! Never seen anything like it here in the West.
My favorite tool is actually used for steaming plum puddings – I love my old tin Portuguese plum pudding molds, especially the little ones that I use to make plum puddings for gifts.
Some new sprinkles just might get me out of my textbooks and into the kitchen!!
    Lynne Andagan – candagan@yahoo.com

  184. I love using sprinkles too! It’s like the easy way to hide your mistakes! Haha :)

  185. Hmmmm. I would have to say my Kitchen Aid mixer is my favorite tool.

    webowes at hotmail dot com

  194. That is one awesome store!!! We love any and all sprinkles around our house. My two little boys just eat them plain!

  195. Currently my favorite baking items are all of the things necessary for cupcake botes and cake bites. While you are into little cake boxes, I’m obsessed right now with those tiny cupcake liners. I love that they are decorative now and not just white.
