Where I shop…

Cake Art Party Store! I started going here about two years ago when the baking and cake decorating bug bit me. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed. Actually, I’m still overwhelmed. There’s so much stuff I don’t know… don’t even have a clue about… but I feel like I learn something new every single time I visit. Unfortunately, I can’t do that very often because this store makes me spend money.

Cake Art Party Store

Like on these things. I’m serious… this place is dangerous. I think I get a sugar high or something when I walk in … my heart starts racing … I start picking random stuff up. And when I get home, bags full… I’m like, what just happened.

Cake Art Party Store

But, when you see all these… in one place. You start thinking… do I have enough yellow sprinkles. I can’t remember. Okay, get some more and get some blue ones, and red ones while you’re at it.

Cake Art Party Store

And then, you start thinking that you can’t live without blue teddy bear sprinkles or green palm tree sprinkles, or pink pigs. And what if someone has a baby… I need those baby sprinkles or wait, boys like cupcakes… what about helmet and football sprinkles. You see where I’m going. Let’s just say that I have accumulated my fair share of sprinkles.

The funny thing is … I hardly ever use them on cupcakes or cakes. It just makes me feel good knowing I have them just in case. I know … weird! But, they do come in handy when it comes to decorating cake pops, so that’s how I justify it.

Cake Art Party Store

You can even buy them in bags!

Cake Art Party Store

Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros… Airbrush! Pretty colors, though.

Cake Art Party Store

Speaking of colors… did you know you can buy rolled fondant that is already tinted?

I started doing this recently with red fondant because it is seriously a pain to tint it yourself and get it a deep red color.

Cake Art Party Store

Now, a lot of people don’t like the taste of fondant, they just like the look of it from a visual perspective. So, if you just want to experiment, then play around and buy it pre-made. Just don’t get this much. You can stick with the 1 pound packages.

Or if you really want, make some from scratch. I hear marshmallow fondant is pretty good.

Cake Art Party Store
Anyone need 25 lbs of buttercream frosting?

Cake Art Party Store

Or tinted buttercream?

Cake Art Party Store

Not me. I like to make my own buttercream and tint it myself. Yummy!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some petit four icing? Just snip the tip and go. Great for beginners.

Cake Art Party Store

Marzipan… I haven’t dabbled in this stuff yet, but I do like saying the name. Marzipan!

Cake Art Party Store

Check this out! This might just be the best part of the store. Pans! Round ones, oval ones, heart-shaped ones, square ones! And in graduated sizes, too! And different heights! Help me, please.

Cake Art Party Store

Tools. I love tools. Offset spatulas and flat spatulas. Thank you.

Cake Art Party Store

Inside these little trays are every decorating tip you can think of and some you can’t. Grab some disposable bags and couplers and you’re set.

Cake Art Party Store

There’s so much stuff in the store that you can miss little things like this. Petal dust and luster dust… I think I’m in love. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Cake Art Party Store

Need to stack a big cake? Sorry, I can’t help you… haven’t done that.

Cake Art Party Store

Mine are little and usually just end up on cake boards like these.

Cake Art Party Store

And sometimes, they get put in cake boxes. I love cake boxes. Especially the tiny ones.
Little cakes in little boxes are just the cutest!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some party supplies? They have that, too.

Cake Art Party Store

Baking cups for boys and girls.

Cake Art Party Store

Tons and tons of plastic cake toppers. I’ve never bought anything down this aisle…

Cake Art Party Store

But, this one made me laugh so hard, I almost bought it for a Mother’s Day cake. Then, I pictured myself on Cake Wrecks and stopped myself. :)

Cake Art Party Store

Father’s Day is around the corner, though…

Cake Art Party Store

Almost done… hang in there. Cookie cutters are always fun to have.

Cake Art Party Store

And so are these. I have this set of dual sided graduated cutters. I love them and they come in super handy when I make fondant covered cupcakes.

Cake Art Party Store

Gadgets galore! I can’t stand in this section too long because my pantry just isn’t big enough.

And guess what… that’s just the half of it. Actually, the 1/8th of it. I wish I could show you everything.
Coming soon… candy stuff!

Hope you guys liked looking at all that stuff and thanks Cake Art for letting me show everyone that there’s a much bigger cake world than the 9 inch cake pans I used to buy in the grocery store. And guess what guys… most of it’s easier than you think.

Lucky girl! My favorite cake decorating tool is my bench scraper – wouldn’t be able to get those crisp sides on my cakes w/o it! Thanks.
    popmarsh@hotmail.com

  124. One of my favorite things to bake with is my set of 9 inch round cake pans with checkerboard insert (by Pampered Chef). It’s fun to make different cake combinations, and when everyone cuts into it they are surprised.

  125. Ohhhh my god- I would definitely hyperventilate in a store like that one. It’s so awesome!
I love baking tools, but I really wish I had a set of good measuring cups and spoons. That way I could stop converting american recipes!

  128. Wow what a great store! I am not a big cake decorator but I do love to play and dabble. I don’t really have a favortie tool!

    robynccgirl at gmail dot com

  129. My favorite baking tool is my pampered chef stoneware pan that makes six mini fluted cakes. They make perfect little bird’s nests or pumpkins in the fall! And of course I need sprinkles for all of them. :)

  130. I love me some cookie cutters.

  131. Drool! How fun would this be for my monthly cookie decorating party with a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds! I would have to say that right now my fav is flavored sprinkles! I found some that are apple flavored, and the kiddo’s love them!

  133. I think I would have a mild panic attack in that store, overwhelmed by all of the awesomeness. Wow!

I couldn’t live without my Kitchen Aid mixer. My husband jokes that our automatic espresso machine is “one of the 10 things he’d grab if we had a fire.” I think the mixer would be on mine. And I’m *not* joking. :)

  134. I would love some baby sprinkles for an up-coming baby shower I am hosting!

  136. Teddy bear sprinkles!

  137. Thanks for the tour! I always love seeing good places to shop.

You must try marzipan – it is amazing. Moldable, shapeable, and yummy. (It’s almond paste, if you’ve never tried it.)

I have lots of tools and utensils that I love, but I must also confess to a sprinkle addiction. I have sprinkles for birthdays, seasons, and every holiday!

  138. I bake a lot with my 3 year old daughter, so needless to say… PINK sprinkles are a favorite at our house! She would absolutely love that store.

  139. 1257 comments? wow! hahahahahaha

I thank God I do not have such a shop in my neibourghood… I would be lost! I would have to try every single product… too much for my economy!

About my favorite producto right now, is a package provided by Wilton with 4 small packages of colored rolled fondat ready to use… I have tried the pastel colors http://www.enjuliana.com/product_info.php?products_id=634, and also de natural colors http://www.enjuliana.com/product_info.php?products_id=633… these are great! And they make me save a lot of time… I usually buy in online shops here in Spain…

  140. I love my icing spatula! I couldn’t ice a cake without it!

  141. my favorite baking tool is my fiance! he’s the best taste tester ever!

  144. I think if there were a store like that in my area, I would fall in love too. My favorite baking tool is my spatula because I use it with everything!

And I heart sprinkles. My kids big fuzzy heart sprinkles. Nothing is funner than baking with your kids with sprinkles.

  145. My favorite tool is my cake slicer. Without that thing, I would make some SERIOUSLY crooked cake layers. :)

  146. WOW what an amazing place!! I can see how one cold drop a LOT of $$ in a place like that!

My fav item? Would have to be my new Martha Stewart mixing bowl! I LOVE it, I love the color (robins egg blue) I love the size and shape and I love that it has rubber grippy on the bottom so it stays put on the counter!

AWESOME Giveaway!! Thanks for the chance to win!!

    smalltowngirlinwny.blogspot.com

  148. Looks like a great store! One of my favorite tools is my flat spatula for icing. My daughter loves sprinkles. We can’t pass the sprinkle aisle without examining every container!

  149. Love your site! I would love to find dog sprinkles! Specifically bird dog (Vizsla) sprinkles!

  150. My favorite baking tool is my fiance-he’s the best taste-tester ever!

  151. I heard about a multiple mini cheesecake pan (like cupcakes but for mini cheesecakes) that has removeable bottoms! I would like to have one someday!

  152. don’tcha just LOVE a shopping spree like that! I think my favorite sprinkles were the black, brown and white cows I had once. Sadly, I have to start over from scratch collecting. I gave mine all to my sister when she started decorating cakes and now that I have a child of my own, I’m gonna need to go buy all the butterflies and daisies and pink sugar and purple nonparieles and jimmies and OH MY! it’s gonna be SO FUN!

  153. Love that place! I too am a lover of pop sticks :) Just makes everything look better!

  154. I’ve been trying to get down there for awhile now. It’s wedding season so it will have to wait until after June. You do tease so! I have to pick one favorite item? Oh no. Well, perhaps my cake lifter. It’s new and I love it.

  155. my favorite tool is a viva paper towel – it makes my icing jobs look smoooth and pretty!
I’ve never been to cakeart, it’s a bit of a trek from my suburb, but some of my friends have told me I really should go.

  156. I would spend a lot of money in that store as well. I love using sprinkles anytime I can!

  157. Thanks for the giveaway! I made the cake cupcake balls for St. Patty’s day. I loved it. My sis did the Picachu’s for her son’s b-day cake. Thanks for all the great ideas.

  158. I am almost glad that store is not near me. I would have to sign my paycheck over to them every week LOL! My fav tool for baking is my own two hands. I use my hands for EVERYTHING (I clean them so no worries). No tool can come close to them.

    lauried32@gmail.com

  159. Sadly all I have are the rainbow sprinkles that you can get in your grocery store. I would LOVE a store that out where I live….I don’t think I would come out. But my favorite baking tool is the off-set spatula.

  160. Wow, that store looks like fun. Right now, I’m madly in love with my aebleskiver pan!

  161. Oh My….what I wouldn’t do to have a shop like that near us. We live in NC and though Tucker, GA isn’t that far, I don’t think I can justify driving just yet. But WOW!! My husband would kill me if we did have a store like that here….I’d get a little to happy in that store and would spend every penny we have! Anyway, I LOVE sprinkles so any color and/or design is fine with me! Thanks!

  162. I am so jealous you have such an awesome store near you. I also have a fetish for sprinkles, so I know I would go crazy in that place. I would have to say my favorite baking tool is my kitchenAid mixer. It makes everything so much easier!
    http://www.thecupcakeryandmore.com

  163. After only a day 1200+ comments that shop is sooooo awesome, one would dream of being there…. i had to get my icing tips off ebay as they were so expensive in the local icing shop (if they were game enough to stock anything good).. colours

    http://obsessivelycupcake.blogspot.com/

  164. Oh my Goodness! I order a few things here and there from Cake Art online, but seeing it was so awesome! I wish they would open a store on SC!!!!! (If they did my husband would end up banning me from the store, though.)I am like you and have sprinkles running out my ears. I really don’t want to win this one (you need to get someone else addicted to Sprinkles, like us) but I wanted to “Thank You” for giving us an inside look!

  165. I enjoy decorating cupcakes w/ different icing tips! And I can’t have a cupcake without sprinkles. :)

  166. ha! one item? no way…offset spatula does me in but so does the flat whisk oh heck i love them all!

  167. HOLY COW! I can only dream to have a place like that. This is a really nice giveaway thank you.. I can’t wait to see more pictures..

  168. Truth is everything in my kitchen is a favorite. I can spend hours playing with my toys. My dad made two rolling pins in 1940, one for my mom and one for my grandmother. I cherish and use them, so they are favorites. I will leave one to each of my two grand daughters one of these days.

  169. Ok, that store is seriously enough to get me back into baking!! I think I’d go off the deep end on my first visit! I’d LOVE some sprinkles to get me back on the baking train!!! :-)

  170. How can you go wrong with sprinkles??? I’m glad I don’t live too close! Luckily on-line shops are NOT the same thing.

I bet it smells good in there too!!

  171. My favorite tool would be a store like that around here! The only one closed a few years ago, and my life hasn’t been the same.

  172. I love silicone baking cups!

  173. I love that store!! Went in to browse and stayed way too long. I love any and all sprinkles, from shapes and colors to specialty ones! My favorite tool is a pastry bag…makes decorating anything easier!
    julieklewis@comcast.net

  174. WOW…that is all I can say, I would be broke in a store like that! I love using a star tip to decorate, that is my favorite!

    Michelle Carroll
    carroll20653@gmail.com

  175. Fun! I wish we had a store like that around here. I will just settle for Michaels I suppose! I just started buying tips to decorate cakes. So much fun!!! I’d love to win!

    rachel.blogger@gmail.com

  176. Awesome, I totally wish there was a store like this in my area! :) Can you shop online from them?

    Love you blog!! :)

    tigerscouple@yahoo.com

  177. My silicone mat I would have to say is my favorite item. Without that my boys would never eat cookies.
    ninagonzalez0430 (at) yahoo (dot) com

  178. Sprinkles…. wow – that’s more than I have ever seen! And, I am sooo far away :(

The store looks like a lot of fun!

  179. As a kid growing up in RI…when you got ice cream you would ask for rainbow or chocolate shots (as opposed to sprinkles or jimmies). I love that sprinkles/jimmies/shots have come a long way since then!

My favorite baking tooks are my cookies cutters!

    http://wide-angle-lens.blogspot.com/2009/04/30-april-2009-photos-you-can-have-your.html

  180. I think my favorite would be my Kitchenaid Mixer.

I love that store. I wish we had something like that. It looks overwhelming but fun!

We only have a choice of maybe 5 kinds of sprinkles at our grocery store. lol

    Rashelle
    rgronda@hotmail.com

  181. I love the offet spatula!
    raeganlady @ gmail dot com

  182. I don’t have a favorite gadget. I’m not very creative and I usually just bake because its necessary! I am going to attempt your cupcake pops for my daughter’s first birthday which will be cupcake themed. So, I do need some pink and chocolate brown “jimmies!”

    sue0213@gmail.com

  183. That’s not a store, that’s Shangri-La ! I wish my local store looked like that.
My dream sprinkles are hand and foot prints. I’m doing a huge baby shower cake at the end of this month, and I would love to decorate one of the tiers with tiny pairs of prints.

  184. It’s so hard to say what my favorite baking item is…I’m still learning! I think I’ll go with my new icing spatula. That thing is SO much better than a regular knife!

I love all those sprinkle options! Wow! I never knew such things existed!

  185. WOW! Wish I would have known about this store
when I lived in GA a few years ago. I am still looking
for 9” cake pans with the removable bottoms (not the spring form pans) good place to check. I love anything
that has to do with baking! My most needed item is my granite counters for making chocolate shavings. Silver sprinkles please.
    bugs2@charter.net

  186. I would think I had died and went to heaven in a store like that! I am stuck with just craft stores for my cake decorating needs.
I love my icing tips. I love making flowers to go on cakes. :)

  187. I just love sprinkles! My favortie is my kitchen aid mixer!

  188. My favorite baking tool is definitely piping bags and decorative tips. I love turning something simple, like cupcakes, into something gorgeous and impressive!

  189. My favorite baking item would have to be cupcake papers. Besides its original purpose (which is great because I don’t have to grease and flour the pans) I have found tons of other uses for them. With all the colors and designs, its so hard to stop at one… or two packs at a time.

  190. You are awesome. I wish we had a store like that where I live. I love my decorator tips and could always buy more!
    Alcrow96@hotmail.com

  191. I JUST bought those baseball cupcake liners for my soon-to-be two-year-old’s birthday. I thought about making your cake bites in the shape of the dog from Blue’s Clues, but then I remembered last year where I made this huge baseball sitting on a diamond and how long it took me, and so I decided on cupcakes with Blue’s pawprint (nothing to do with the liners, but my bulk supply store/cake decorating store is smaller).

  192. My new favorite way to decorate cupcakes is to simply use a large round tip and go around and around the cupcake in neat rows. It’s so simple but looks very classy. I will be making some for my Wine Club meeting Friday night, along with some flower cake pops that you posted recently using the leftover pastel candy corn (from the bunnies I made at Easter). Love your site – you give me all sorts of wonderful ideas!!

  193. Wow! That’s place is better than Disneyland!! So awesome! I will probably say that I adore my cookie cutters. I have some cute ones and my kid loves making cookies!
    Thanks!
    manuelinha@gmail.com

  194. Sprinkles? This one-horse town doesn’t HAVE sprinkles! Sign me up!!!

My favorite cannot-do-without gadget for baking? My Kitchenaide Mixer. Hands down.

    Thanks for the chance!
    Diane

  195. Ok! Just WOW!!! A place like that almost makes me think I could be very good at cake decorating!

My favorite tool would have to be my Wilton pans. I love them!

Those black and red heart sprinkles are awesome! I could so do some Twilight themed stuff with those!

  196. i am a big fan of hockey (go flyers although they are out of the playoffs) and have always wanted some hockey sprinkles, pucks and sticks.

  197. Looks a lot like a store I have near me (only open while I’m at work though and far so I never get to go!)

My favorite thing now, at home, would probably be luster dust. Can’t go wrong with that stuff, especially the iridescent colors. While I worked at bakery, the amazing cake levelers (even though I chopped up my pinkie on one bad!)

Oh and you should really look into other brands than Satin Ice if you’re not feeling fondant. That brand alone tastes disgusting! For colors, you’re right that they’re the best way to go. But even Chocopan comes in colors now and is infinitely tastier!

  198. Wow- I have never seen so many sprinkles in one place before! I wish they had a store around here. My favorite baking tool is my miniature cheesecake pans. I decorate them with sprinkles and they are so cute- but would love to have more interesting sprinkles to use on them.
    brusher06@yahoo.com

  199. My nesting bowls

  200. WOW! my favorite tool would be my mini spatula, it makes it so much easier to take cookies off the pan with out smashing the others!
