On Christmas Eve we open one present, read “The Night Before Christmas”, and rush to bed.
The best part of the holidays here in Puerto Rico are the “parrandas”. People get together to make surprise visits to friend and family. We sing carols, talk and of course, we eat.
I love spending a relaxing morning walking in the woods of Central PA with my husband, then coming home to a day of cooking and preparing for Christmas. In the eve, we relax and tell stories of setting out cookies, milk, and carrots for Santa and his reindeer!
I always spend Christmas Eve at my parents’ house. We make a big dinner, eat by candlelight, and pop traditional English party crackers (complete with tissue paper crowns, of course). Seeing my dad wear a brightly colored paper crown is one of the highlights of my holiday season! :)
My favourite part of the holiday season is decorating. Christmas lights, snow globes, decorating the tree….it’s such a joyful time of year! The smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree is just beautiful.

My huddy and I wrap presents and put cookies an milk out for Santa but would love to put out cake pops instead.
Every year my family and I go to church on Christmas Eve, afterwards we head over to my grandparents house and we have a party where there’s all sorts of delicious appetizers and treats. My grandmother’s homemade cookies, meatballs, cheese ball, peppermint punch and other treats are among some of the things we have. We sit in her living room as a family and chat about what’s going on in our lives and laugh. It makes Christmas my favorite time of year because the whole family is brought together, I love all the decorations and the feeling of sitting by a warm fire on a cold winters night!
My favorite part about Christmas eve is being able to see my whole family together under one roof!! It’s a time where we eat ALOT of Grammys home cooking (yum!) and we sit together enjoying each others company in the holiday spirit! I also get to exercise my baking skills and make a bunch of treats for everyone!
My favorite part of the holiday season is decorating the outside of my house. I love looking at it after it is done and getting cards from people thanking me for doing it.

My favorite part of the season is driving around one night with my husband, puppies and hot chocolate looking at Christmas lights.
On Christmas Eve every night my family and I go to our church and sing Christmas Carols, listen to a sermon, and sing Silent night with only the light from individual candles. I love doing this evey year and it’s gets me all bubbly each time. It’s such a joy to gather with your closest friends and family and celebrate Christmas. :) Then we’ll go home and play some family games next to the Christmas tree until we anxiously go to bed. :) So many memories.

We spend Christmas Eve, with some very close friends. We usually have a crock pot going with chili or tortilla soup, guacamole is a must and christmas cookies. We spend the evening playing board games and bowling on the WII. It is a lot of fun!
We spend Christmas Eve having dinner and opening presents with my husband’s family. After they leave, and the kids go to bed, my husband and I sit in the family room with no lights but those on the tree and talk about the year. Great time to reconnect after a busy holiday season.
My mom is a church pianist, so my brother and I usually come to her house and go with her, and spend Christmas in our hometown.

When we were little we used to drive around the neighbourhood to check out everyone’s outdoor christmas decorations. When we came home, we each got to open one present! Now that we are older, we would all go my parents house and have some yummy appetizers! Cake pops would be a great addition this year!!

I spent my Xmas eve wrapping presents for my boys who will be 2 and 4 year olds and eating cookies from”Santa” and carrots for the reindeer.
I usually work a 12 hour shift on Christmas Eve. Leave work and stop by Red Lobster and pick up one of their trays with shrimp and rolls. Take it home and see how many of the kids/grandkids have made it from out of town. Sit around and just be thankful for the season and family.

Hi Bakerella! For 30 years I’ve spent every Christmas Eve with my immediate family. We watch all of our favorite Christmas movies, hang out in our pjs, eat our favorite food and celebrate how wonderful it is to have each other. It is our favorite holiday!
My favorite part of the Holidays is BAKING .It started when I was young my Mom always baked Cookies ,cakes,pies and Raisin Bread. When I got married and had kids I started baking but my favorite is baking the cookies. I start in October and don’t stop until Christmas. Last year I baked 38 different flavors of cookies,over 3,000(yes that’s correct) cookies. I ship them to family members,friends, and others who touch my life though out the year.(doctors, mailman,etc…) Last year I started adding Cake Pops to my list of items I bake for Christmas. We have always spent Christmas Eve snuggling at home next to the twinkling light of the Christmas tree, drinking hot chocolate, and maybe watching a Christmas movie or two. As children, my mom would always let me brother and I open one gift on Christmas Eve! I love this time of year!

On Christmas Eve we like to make sure we have the house all sorted for Santa’s arrival. When we are sure it is sorted its baths all round.
We set up a special treat for Santa, each year will be something different and the last few years it has been something we have baked ourselves. We love the smell of the sugar cookies or the cupcakes in the house when the heats on and its lovely and warm inside and soooo cold outside.
This year we would love to try some of your receipes as they look both delicious and fun. We then go to the front and back gardens and sprinkle plenty of the reindeer food to help them find their way to our house. If we have been extra good we will have a cookie or cupcake ourselves before its off to bed for a lovely story (usually The Night Before Christmas). Then its off to sleep if we can and were not too excited.Lol!!!!!!

My favourite part of the Christmas season is preparing an annual Family Movie DVD. For many, many late nights during December, my husband and I go through all the videos and photographs that we’ve shot over the year, edit a selection, and prepare a DVD to give to each of our families on Christmas Day. It’s a wonderful way to reflect on the year.

Every Christmas Eve my family eats a yummy dinner of Norwegian meatballs and all the fixings then attends church. Following candlelight services we come home and open most of our presents. Been that way ever since I can remember.

We spend our Christmas Eve by first going to the childrens mass at our church. After mass we go to our favorite chinese restaurant. My husband and I come from big families so its harder to organize our gatherings. So we usually spend Christmas day with my family and celebrate with his family another day. That way we can spend an entire day with one family – instead of rushing in between family parties.
On Christmas Eve we always have appetizers and cookies for dinner by the tree! Then all of the kids get to pick 1 present to open that night.

Christmas Eve IS one of my favorite parts of the holiday season!! :) For as long as I can remember my family has always gone down to the Mission Inn (super fun hotel here in downtown) to see all the lights on display. We grab some hot cocoa and kettle corn and take the sleigh ride through the streets with santa singing Christmas carols. Then after seeing all the lights, we head up to my parents house and drive to a few select streets that always have the best light show and see all the lights. Then once all the festivities are done, we head back to each open one gift and then it’s off to bed with visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads! :)

My favorite part is baking cookies with my sisters. Been doing that for as long as i can remember (20+ years)! :) Even though my sisters now live in different countries and time zones we still manage to bake on the same day and skype for a bit!
Christmas eve we always got together with my parents and brothers and sister, and open presents and have cool sppetizers like sausage balls and spinach balls….and cheese balls….i think there might be a theme here….anyway, that kind of morphed to also include spouses and kids, as they came along(some of those kids are grown now, eek!) and we do not get to do it as often now, as we all scattered with our jobs, but it was always really fun. For Christmas Eve we gather with my family (20+) and have Swedish Meatballs, scalloped corn, lefse and desserts from Norway. Then a game of monopoly or dominos and watch the kids open presents. This is a tradition going on for 40+ years.

My girls and I love making cake pops! On Christmas eve we usually have a special dinner of soup and put the sweets out for Santa! We get to open one gift which is always a new ornament for the tree.
My Husband & I are going to celebrate our second Christmas being married, and our first with our young son. Last year we had a quiet dinner for two, but this year we will be spending Christmas Eve opening Little Man’s gifts with my husband’s parents, Christmas Morning just our little family and Christmas Day with my parents.
Usually on Christmas Eve, my family heads over to our Swedish friends’ house and we have a big Swedish get together. We open presents, eat a fabulous, luscious meal, and dance the night away! It’s always such a blast, and I’m really looking forward to it this year. :)

Our Christmas Eve is always spent at my moms house. It comes complete with a visit from Santa for all of her grand kids!!
My father was a Fireman and now my husband and brother both are so we spend Christmas Eve at the Fire Station visiting with Santa and then all of the family comes over to eat and let all the kids play. Christmas is my favorite time of years because I love spending time with my friends and family!

The Holiday season for me begins October 1st and continues until Valentines Day.I love the food,decorations but most of all I love the family fun and the feeling of togetherness the summer months don`t seem to give me.I love Christmas especially because of the glitter,sparkle and light.The snow and fires in the fireplace.I love to cook for my family and this time of year brings out the best in my abilities in the kitchen,which my family appreciates very much.I have been told on more than one occasion that they feel my love in my food and I usually get a thank you after they eat.This is what I love most about the holiday season.

We are military so it’s usually me and my hubby. We try to make the most of it being far from our family’s. So we get together with military friends and cook together enjoying a full house of guest. Now we have our first baby girl and want to go all out for her first everything since we are far from family it’s just us three in our new location. Happy holidays!

Ever since I was a kid my family spent Christmas Eve at my grandma’s. We would exchange presents, eat chili and enjoy each other’s company. We still celebrate at Grandma’s and now i get to raise my children in the event of things at their Great Grandma’s house!!
Christmas Eve is usually a quiet evening at home for our immediate family. I always let my daughters pick one present under the tree to open after dinner (as a little teaser/preview). My older daughter just now started choosing packages other than the largest ones…sometimes the smaller ones are better. :) Thanks *so* much for this opportunity, you rock!

My favorite part is on Christmas Eve–walking through a nearby neighborhood that is entirely decorated beyond belief, singing carols & watching the kids get in their last minute requests to Santa…then heading off to Midnight Mass….
We go to church, then dinner. We will play games and read Twas the Night Before Christmas. AFter the cookies for Santa have been set out and our daughter has gone to bed, we help Santa with the cookies and watch a movie.

Here in Finland, Christmas Eve is the more important day of the duo instead of Christmas Day. In my family, we cook a rice porridge (with a lucky almond in it) for a late breakfast/lunch and then begin to prepare the christmas dinner. After dinner it’s time to open the presents and to go to sauna, if possible. Often we stay up late, playing boardgames and/or eating chocolates and drinking glögi or tea.
We usually have dinner, watch a bunch of Christmas movies and at midnight we get to open the presents under the tree. One of us dresses up as Santa’s helper to hand out the gifts. We’ve been doing this ever since I was a little kid and I do it with my children now as well.

My husband started hosting a Christmas Eve open house a few years before we met, but it seems the tradition has gotten bigger and better each year! A new high in store this year–my BFF since Kindergarten and her family will be visiting from England over the holidays! I was planning on making cake pops, so if I win, the book and kit will make everything easier!
Christmas Eve in our family has become a girl’s night. My mom, my sister and I each bring a bottle of wine and some treats (I always make cake balls ;D ) and we watch the Christmas Story marathon on TV while wrapping presents. We all look forward to it every year!
Love love love when my in-laws get together for our annual baking day! We spend all day long drinking wine and baking treat trays for other family and friends. Deliverying them always seems like such an accomplishment!
We spend Christmas Eve in the country at the family farm. First we celebrate my sis-n-law’s birthday, then we celebrate Jesus’ birthday, then we dive into the huge pile and celebrate consumerism.

My absolute fav part of the holiday season is watching Christmas movies! Every year I do a 25 days of Christmas movie countdown, posting my daily choice on Facebook. Now that I have 2 little ones, I’m so much more excited this year to add on some more cartoony Christmas choices ;)
Christmas Eve is spent with my 4 Sons, 3 Daughter in laws, 2 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter. Chili dogs is one of our favorite meals to have while waiting on Santa. It is always noisy & lots of fun.
We spent christmas with family, either my parents or parents in law. We open presents on Christmas eve and go to church on Christmas day.
This year I want to begin a new tradition to keep as a heir loom.
I want to take a table cloth and let everybody that is there write a short message. Next year we will go on until the whole thing is written up.
I want to print photos of the people that was there on a iron transfer and put that with the year.
Then we can always remember each other.
And we will have a nice lunch and I will make the dessert. This year it will be cake pops!
My favorite part is the food and sweets throughout the season and them warm caramel rolls on Christmas morning!
When I was a kid we always went for
Mexican food on Christmas Eve and then came home and watched a Christmas movie. Now, my husband and I are working on our own traditions :)
I celebrate on Christmas Day with wonderful friends I’ve known for more than 30 years. Huge roast beast with all the trimmings. I bring my homemade Buche Noel for dessert. (Folks, it is far easier to make than you’d think.) I have to start a tradition of going out to a Chinese restaurant for diner on Christmas Eve. What a fantastic idea!
I usually spend Christmas Eve with my family just talking about how they spent their Christmas growing up. We would have a huge bonfire outside where we would roast marshmallows and just be thankful that everyone is home. Each family would also make a Gingerbread house and we would display them at my Grandparents house. It never gets old.
Christmas Eve is always spent with family waiting for Pickles the Elf to deliver Christmas jammies. When the kids were little the tradition of putting the jammies on as soon as they were delivered got started. Even now my usually VERY modest children don’t have any problem stripping down and putting the jammies on in front of everyone.
I love everything about the holidays! The music, lights, everything! I got married last year and had a Christmas theme wedding!
Well since we have a ‘blended’ family we get my step son on Christmas Eve, we have our Christmas then and Christmas Day my husband and I spend it together.
I always spend Christmas Eve watching cheesy holiday movies and drinking hot chocolate (even though its still 85 degrees outside in Florida)
My favorite part of the holidays are sitting down with my family every Christmas Eve and watching a Christmas Story!
We go to church, have shrimp chowder together, read the Christmas story and Polar Express, then sleep and wait for Santa!!!
My favorite Christmas tradition is one that my mom started with my brother, sister, and myself. One Christmas eve we always got to open one gift which was always new pjs. She has continued this tradition with my children and my sister’s children. I also enjoy the tradition I started with my kids. We make Reindeer food on Christmas eve and sprinkle it in the yard before they go to bed!
I like spending time with my kids and the joy of when they are opening presents. Oh…and all the delicous desserts.
Christmas Eve is spent with family because it is family that warms the human soul. We enjoy a delicious dinner, then we sit and visit, play with the little ones, and sometimes watch the movie “Christmas Vacation”. Laughter is good for the human soul also.
I don’t live near my family so on the years that I can get home, my favorite part is just being with those I love! and all the desrest everyone makes, my family has a huge sweet tooth!
I love baking during the holidays! Popcorn cake and fudge — we only make them during this time of the year!
My favorite part of the season is getting to spend time baking with my younger brother and as soon as my daughter is a little older adding her to the fun will make it even better.
My favorite part is looking at my niece and nephew when they are opening their presents. I’m not complaining about getting a few days off work either…
Christmas Eve is spent with my family-eating, drinking, presents and enjoying each others company!
My mum is Christmas crazy and decorates her house accordingly. She lives 8 hours from us so we travel christmas eve and arrive just after dark. The moment we pull into her driveway is one of my favourite Christmas moments. It’s my baby’s first Christmas this year so Im extra excited and can’t wait to see his reaction as we drive up to the brightly lit house!
My husband and I have decided that will be doing the PJ’s on Christmas eve thing too – it will be our first tradition of our little family!

We adopt a family for Christmas and spend Christmas eve delivering the presents we picked out for them, and then we spend the rest of the evening with our own family at the annual Christmas party.
Christmas Eve communion at our church is awesome! It’s great taking the time to get away from the hustle and bustle and spend time with my family focusing on what makes the Christmas season so special to us.
My husband, daughter, and I will have a nice, peaceful dinner at home and then go for a drive to look at lights in the neighborhood. Then my daughter will put out a tray of cookies and Pepsi. Yes, Pepsi. Santa likes Pepsi in my house!
We never know what we will be doing Christmas Eve but one thing we do is let the kids open on present. They always hope it’s not underwear or batteries! :)
I just like the whole Christmas feeling. The excitement, kindnes….all that.
We spend Christmas Eve getting the food ready for Christmas Day, wrapping last minute gifts, and watching my favorite Chrostmas movies, Holiday Inn and The Bells of St. Mary’s . Nothing like Bing Crosby in black and white!
On christmas eve we always spend it at my moms house eating dinner then opening gifts. Then for christmas day we get to sleep in and stay home make breakfast and my daughter opens her gifts from santa :-)then its time to start dinner. We make all the special things we love for dinner.
I LOVE the Christmas Eve communion service at our church. It’s amazing to take the time from the hustle and bustle and spend some time as a family focusing on why the Christmas season is so special to us.
My favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with my family that I normally don’t get to… and then the favorite part is when they leave!!

We spend Christmas eve with my family. We have a traditional Mexican dinner of tamales and stuffed chiles in walnut sauce.
My parents are separated, so my christmas tends to be a bit messy and planning is a bit of a pain (especially when you’re trying to fit in time for the in-laws!), but wonderful :) To shorten it down (because I honestly could go on for hours:P): Lots of baking, lots of family, lots of delicious food (knäck!), lots of laughter and lots of love (totally cheesy, but I don’t care!). OH. And the Donald Duck’s Christmas show at 15.00 on christmas eve, that’s a must! :)
We drive around the neighborhoods in the Jeep with the top off looking at Christmas lights. We bundle up, have cocoa and snacks and Christmas music for the kids. And then when the kiddos are tucked away, we frantically rush to get everything ready for Christmas morning! :)
Christmas eve for my family has always been celebrated by letting the kids open one present (always pyjamas so they look extra cute in the pictures on Christmas morning) I have tucked something small like a book in with the pyjamas, that way they get a new story before bed. Once the kids are asleep my husband and I wrap any last minute gifts, stuff the stockings and arrange everything just right for the kids in the morning :)
I love christmas because its when all my family comes together and we spend it as one. We have great food and hot chocolate. I think my fav part would be walking up on christmas morning and seeing everyones face when we open the presents.
We always open up Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve! Then we put them on and drink cocoa and read Christmas stories
Growing up, Christmas Eve was always spent with my Mom’s family. We gathered, ate tamales, ham, and too many christmas goodies while we played board games or just visited. When 12am came, we would all hug and wish each other a “Merry Christmas”. When I moved to Australia, sadly that tradition stopped…..until 4 years ago when I decided to start our own Christmas Eve tradition! We host a Holiday Open House for our friends from 3pm–til whenever. We have lots of food and drink and take time out to visit and wish each other a “Merry Christmas!”
I love everything about the holiday season and hate packing the decorations away when it is over.
On Christmas Eve I love to take a late night drive to see the Christmas lights one more time and come home to a warm mug of cocoa. I love Christmas and I adore your new book.
We gather at my mom’s. Just my parents, my family of four and my brother….we too open xmas pj’s! Then we watch The Polar Express.

Christmas Eve is always about the 12 meatless dishes, and getting all the family together to share them. Followed by an amazing feast Christmas morning, which includes meat. My favourite part of all of it has to be seeing the expressions on their faces when they open the gifts (if I guessed right) and they just love it. The food is wonderful, especially all the desserts!

We have the tradition of eating cheese fondu for dinner and then gathering as a family to read the Nativity Story. Then we open one present before bed.
We usually spend Christmas eve going to the candlelight service at church after baking and icing our cutout cookies to leave for Santa. Then after church we play games in our pajamas and drink hot cocoa. Last year we made reindeer cake pops on Christmas Eve. A new tradition!

Every Christmas Eve at our house we invite people over and eat homemade Italian food, like lasagna with homemade pasta, etc.

I never knew new pajamas were such a thing! Now that I think about it, I remember changing into new pajamas on more than one cozy Christmas Eve night. Nowadays, my little family spends Christmas Eve with my husband’s parents, eating a wonderful meal, delicious treats, and spending time with some of our favorite people!
We usually drive to North Carolina for xmas to spend some time with family and baking with my kids and sister in law. If not we stay here in Miami and have as much fun as we can together baking and decorating.
I love it that when Christmas is coming, all the people in the world seem to connect! It’s all love and happiness ( or maybe it’s just me :p)

I love it all! Decorating the tree, shopping, cookie exchanges, our annual cocktail party, kids Christmas concerts, time with family, Christmas morning chaos, turkey dinner. . .Everything!!
We always open new pjs for Christmas eve. I think this year we will get a few pairs. For each kiddo. They LOVE them!!
Our Christmas Eve is church, then Christmas dinner. Kids get to open one present each, saving the rest for the big morning extravaganza!
