Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  17. You always manage to find the cutest things! I’m glad you are feeling better and out of the hospital. I’ve missed your posts and looked everyday last week for something new to pop up.

As for my favorite donut…any with sprinkles will do. :)

  18. I love cake designing and decorating. I also love the (almost) instant gratification it gives you when you are done!
We are spending Easter with about 30+ of our friends and relatives at my Mom and Dad’s house. I can’t wait to spend the day with my family!

  19. Something about myself? Hmmm… I haven’t had donuts for years ..up until a couple days ago when my cousin was craving donuts so we drove 1hr+ to the nearest Krispy Kremes (the one literally less than 10 mins away from us closed down :( so we had to drive into the city) and ordered 2 dozens of donuts. it was MM mm delicious!

  20. I am pregnant. Shhhh… not to many people know yet.
    The necklace is Amazing cute!!

  21. I am salivating over these donuts! As long as they are raised, and not cake, and available, they are my favorite flavor!

  22. Canadian Maple donut… that’s my fav… yum.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

  23. Maple dip is my favorite donut flavour. but the peanut butter cup one looks amazing!

  24. My favorite guilty pleasure is watching Golden Girl reruns at 2 a.m. (it’s a guilty pleasure because I have to take a nap with my 2 year the next day in order to make it through to 9 pm). What can I say, that show cracks me up!

Oh, and the doughnuts look uhhhmazing.

  25. I can’t decide which I would love more…a few dozen of those incredible looking donuts, or that fabulous Swarovski necklace. Both are serious, serious weaknesses of mine!

  26. In Indonesia here, we have Krispy Kreme. And they are really yummy too. I like the star shaped one above. Green tea has always been my favourite, thanks for asking :)

  27. I love doughnuts! Not cake ones though. Raised all the way! :)

  28. Oh MY! Gawd those just look absolutely heavenly and sinful at the same time. I’m a jewelry maker and the charm is sooo cute, too!

  29. oh yum! My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house!

  30. I just started a cupcake business I am so excited and you are a a huge inspiration to me!!

  31. Too adorable! I’m a total doughnut junkie myself. We have a hole-in-the-wall doughnut place in our town that makes them fresh every morning. You get out of the car the smell is so wonderful!!! Hope you’re feeling better! : )

  32. Wow, that is adorable!
I’m getting married in November with an Alice in Wonderland theme! I’m obsessed with donuts… we don’t have anything like Sublime here in Australia – the best we have is Krispy Kreme… I’d love to try Sublime’s red velvet donut!

  33. I love doughnuts. But, c’mon. Who doesn’t? My birthday is the deadline for this contest. I would like: some sort of lemon-ish doughnut and the contest prize. I will settle for the lemon doughnut.

  34. Never met a donut that I did not like………am thankful for my family and for finding your blog, thankful that you are out of the hospital.

  35. Oooh that’s so cute! Wonder if they’re for sale here in Australia….just saw the cupcake and teapot ones too!

Favourite doughnut? Classic cinnamon sugar doughnuts, straight out of the deep fryer…yum. Unfortunately there are NO doughnut sellers in my hick town, closest is 8 hours drive…and now I’m craving them!

  36. This was a cruel, cruel post to show to a 37-weeks-pregnant woman. I have craved doughnuts this whole pregnancy but have caved to temptation very few times. But oh, every single one of those looks delish. Maybe the necklace would be a nice way to satisfy my doughnut craving without being detrimental to the health of the unborn…? :)

  37. the cookie that i was munching on while looking at the pictures of the oh so delicious heavenly looking donuts suddenly felt so inferior and unsatisfying. my favorite donut-i cant pick one. theres too many. sugar sprinkled, cream filled, chocolate icing, small bite sized donuts, homer simpson donut and the list goes on. i might just need to run out to get a donut now.

  38. i love glazed donuts

  39. yeah! Doughnuts! I gave up sweets during the Lenten season…and my mouth is drooling! Easter Sunday cannot come fast enough!

  40. The only plans I have on Easter is to attend church.

  41. Unusual talent? I can’t touch my tongue to my nose, but I CAN touch both my upper lip and my lower lip to my nose!

    (and I love that necklace!)

  42. I get to spend time with family this Easter…it doesn’t get better than that! Glad you are feeling better!!!

  43. I love your website, glad your feeling better!! Well, now that I’m pregnant and the thought of even eating a doughnut gives me heartburn, I have to abstain from eating them now… but normally I will devour Krispy Kreme cream filled, YUMMY!

  44. I worked in a bakery when I was in high school; (30+ years ago), I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart (and a bigger spot on my back side) for old fashioned glazed.

  45. I LOVE apple fritters and glazed cake donuts. HMHHH, now I want a fritter!

  46. On the topic of donuts, the best donut place that I have found to stop at while making the Edmonton to Calgary drive in Alberta is the Donut Mill in Red Deer. Not only does it have a neon windmill sign, the store has tons of filled and cake donuts for sale. My favourite donuts are cake donuts, and their Sour Cream ones are supreme!

  47. Hi Bakerella!!!
I am Jewish, and coming up we have a holiday called Passover. Its a long story, but you can’t eat anything that contains grains like flour, rice, corn etc…
This week i am trying a million and one ways to make delicious flourless bake-able treats! I have started with choc-mint meringues, coconut macaroons and flourless chocolate cupcakes.
    What should be next???
    xoxo Kerri

  48. Love that doughnut necklace!! YUMMY! And those real doughnuts are TDF!

  49. I love your site! I am tellling everyone about cake pops and I want to thank you for showing us a fun way to make some cute desserts!!!

  50. I would have counted the nuts on the doughnuts just to continue staring at it! Glad you’re feeling better!

  51. My favourite guilty pleasure would be any sweet with coloured or rainbow sprinkles on it since I do try to avoid artificial colouring! It’s a doomed battle though but I did buy rainbow sprinkle resin earrings the other day to see if they’d satisfy my need for daily rainbow happiness!

  52. SO glad you are feeling better!!

I’d be thrilled to be your dough nut buddy! LOVE ’em…

Am only four hours away from Atlanta and am thinking that just might be close enough to warrant a trip to try the A town Mocha!! That’s not a crazy suggestion at all, right?!?!

  53. I missed you and so glad you’re feeling better. I’m pretty boring when it comes to donuts; my favorite is glazed. Perhaps I should expand my horizons, but I fear something else will expand instead :)

  54. I love jelly donuts! Although that red velvet donut in your photo looks SO delicious …

  55. I found out two years ago that the first Friday in June is, “National Doughnut Day,” and on my very first NDD I ran home from the gym, where I was informed of this great holiday, and found this recipe on the internet (www.secretdonutrecipe.com) …they’re AMAZING! Simple and tasty. I now make them on NDD and select special occasions and no one ever believes that they’re homemade. In short, I love doughnuts!

  56. In Malaysia, we have JCo Doughnuts and they’re really yummy too. I love doughnuts!!!! I hope you’re getting better, sorry to hear about you being hospitalized…..

  57. A guilty pleasure to go around one’s neck!

  58. I like doughnuts but I wish I didn’t.

  59. Oh and something about me, i forgot. I don’t like frosting on cupcakes or cake!

  60. The necklace is really, really cute! But mostly I’m just glad that you’re OK — I was worried about you Bakerella! Take care of yourself — I really enjoy your site!!

  61. That necklace is just too cute! Something about me, something delightfully pastry related… we have this family brownie recipe that is to die for, especially when the brownies come out underdone. Oh boy, donuts and brownies… time to put on my baking hat! :9

  62. This necklace is adorable!

  63. I am excited about making your red velvet cake for Easter! But I think I need to scout out the antique shops down the street for a cake plate. I haven’t one of those yet. And my weird talent: I can cross only one eye, instead of both.

  64. I am dying to try a bacon maple doughnut from VooDoo Doughnut. A gluten-free version of course.

So glad you’re feeling better. I was worried.

  65. So sorry you’ve been under the weather. My in-laws are coming to town for Easter, so I’m looking forward to kids being too distracted to whine at Mommy for a couple of days!

  66. This Easter I’m spending it with my family and kids. I’m also making some of your easter cake pops.

  67. This Easter I am having family over for dinner. I love getting together with family…there is NOTHING better!

  68. Hm, random…I have over 50 color of nail polish and now I think I have to paint my toenails to look like little donuts. I just don’t know if I have a brown glitter color to make it look like toffee sprinkles though. :-/

  69. This Easter I will be on a cruise ship basking in some much needed sunshine, just me & my daughter!

  70. I just love that necklace, it is sooooo cute! My favorite donut right now is the blueberry cake donut with cream cheese icing piled on top!!! YUM!!!!

  71. My favorite donut is Boston Creme. When I was a kid and we would celebrate my birthday in school instead of bringing in cupcakes, I would bring in donuts!! SO GOOD!

  72. I love a good cherry-iced donut from Shipley…there’s something about the taste of the red food coloring with the artificial cherry flavor on top of a fried confection that is heaven to me.

  73. My favourite doughnuts come from a place called the Donut Mill in Red Deer, Alberta. Everyone who passes through knows to stop at the windmill-shaped shop to taste the goodness!

  74. My phobia is spiders, spiders, and more spiders.

  75. I’m so glad you are feeling better. Adorable jewelry.

  76. I am currently reading an article about Manhattan’s Barbizon in this month’s Vanity Fair. And I’d love that necklace!

  77. Doughnuts were my absolute favorite food as a child. :)

  78. SO GLAD YOU ARE BETTER! I LOVE MAKING CAKE POPS! WILL BE MAKING SOME FOR RELAY FOR LIFE NEXT MONTH. THE NECKLACE IS ADORABLE!

  79. i love plain glazed donuts

  80. I love donuts. My favorite is chocolate cake donut with powdered sugar but I haven’t had that flavor in years. The local chain doesn’t have them any more. One of these days I’ll crave them enough to make a batch.

  81. I have never wanted a donut so bad in my life than after reading that post… YUM! Maple is my favorite, but it’s an indulgence, so it’s been a while… but now I’m thinking I need to go out and find me some!!!

  82. Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather, esp. to that extent! Jeez! As for the donuts, what a great pick-me-up. :) I’ve always been a fan of the Boston Cream style but I could easily be swayed by what you’re showing above! I could just roll around in some of those! Ok. Actually, eww, but you know what I mean.

  83. Yum! my favorite is caramel glazed with cream filling, from my hometown doughnut shop. :)

  84. I made a cake last week shaped like a tea pot! I was very excited to see it turn out well. I love this blog and all the good food blogs!

  85. Wow!!!! All I can say is that I have now tried at least 12 of your recipes. Cake pops were the hardest for me because I tend to snack along the way and then there is not much left for everyone else. I am going to try to make the bunny cake pops for Easter, Wish me luck
Maybe some chocolate covered strawberries as well and a brown sugar pie wouldn’t hurt anything but my waistline :)
    Thanks for the great ideas

  86. Number 1: Glad you are feeling better and I am an organ donor. . . (More about that later!)
LOVE LOVE LOVE donut holes! I am thankful for my fiance (getting married in 2 months) I LOVE wedges because they give you height yet are comfortable! Hate roaches and taking my grandmother out to lunch for Easter!

  87. I love coming to your site for ideas… this month is employee appreciation month. I work in HR so for employee appreciation month I am going to bake cupcakes for all the employees that enter my little contest on who is the employee that has been employed the longest!

  88. I love this giveaway! Even if I don’t win I still want it and might have to go buy it! Adorable!
My favorite doughnut is anything with cream in it. :)

  89. oh my goodness…this post makes me want to fly all the way out to atl :D

  90. Fav donught flavor, jeez I’m going to have to go with a chocolate eclair. But I’m totally good with a plain glazed too. I don’t like any of the really heavy ones though. Bear claws are waaay too much of a good thing. Oh and one time I ate 3 plain glazed Krispy Kremes. Totally bad idea. Felt like I had eaten a whole bad of fishing weights. Sorry had to share.

  91. Hi Bakerella. Glad to read your feeling better. If by chance I win your necklace please pick the person who enters BELOW me. I can’t wear a necklace, though it’s sure is cute, plus I didn’t like the last number showing for comments. :)

Wish I lived close to these yummy looking desserts! Maybe, for my waist it’s a good thing, that caramel and peanut butter doughnut would definitely be my downfall! Yum!!!

  92. I love your site. I have been making cake balls for YEARS!!! I am the “cakeball Lady” in the town where I live in Norther Michigan! My mother passed away waiting for a liver transplant. She was only 57 yrs old. About 2 weeks before she died she told me I was the best daughter she could have ever hoped for! Boy do I miss her!!!

  93. Hope you are feeling better! i love your site and the necklace is darling. I don’t think there is a donut I don’t like LOL. Happy Easter!

  94. I’m so excited to be turning 22 over Easter weekend! What a celebration! (And the best doughnut I’ve ever had was the infamous Bacon Maple Bar from VooDoo Doughnuts in Portland.)

  95. Those doughnuts look absolutely divine. My mouth is officially watering. I would love to win the necklace- it’s beautiful! And much better for my heart and hips! :)

  96. I think I actually drooled on the laptop……

I’m a good ole Canadian: I have a tattoo of a maple leaf above my ankle; my favourite doughnut is the custard filled maple from Tim Hortons; and I have scratched the tongue of a beluga whale.

    True story.

  97. I miss maple crullers. Best donut ever.

  98. I love those necklaces, so cute! I love food necklaces!

When my 4 year old was in the hospital last month all he asked for was donuts. And because he was sick and stuck in the hospital he got spoiled and had about 4 donuts in 3 days … not something I’d usually allow, but sick toddlers are heartbreaking and I couldn’t say no to him!

  99. I love love doughnuts! If I’m ever in Atlanta I am going to have to try these for sure! My favorite is a chocolate long john… the biggest I can find!!!

  100. i’m a sophomore i college, but my spring break falls in time with all the high schools and elementary schools, which means i’m off this week and returning to school after easter. i had planned on going to the craft store to get all sorts of goodies for my future-sister-in-law’s-nieces-and-nephews, but then i realized their dad would hate me for all the sugar i would be giving them next sunday, so i decided to make all sorts of crafty/cute/tasty things for members of my praise team. :) hope you get super-well super-soon!

  101. So glad to hear you are feeling better. Your story is so inspirational. I too believe donating organs is so important! I am grateful for way too many things to count! For Easter I am having 23 people at my house and I am stressing out!

  102. OMG butter toffe looks yummy!!! Glad you´re better hun!!! We love our Bakerella, hope your kidneys are better!!! Lots of love!

  103. I’m listed as an organ donor on my driver’s license.

Oh, and I LOVE donuts! Especially the little donut holes you can pop in your mouth.

  104. I will be enjoying Easter with my Husband and our four precious babies!

  105. I am so glad you are feeling better! I don’t know you personally, but I was worried.

I haven’t had a doughnut in about a year, because I love them WAY TOO much, but a necklace would be a nice compromise! And if I don’t win, maybe I will treat myself to a doughnut anyway!

  106. I’m celebrating passover, which should be a fun holiday but really isn’t because of all the cookies and cleaning. I could murder a doughnut right now – my favorite? chocolate covered, jam filled doughnuts!

P.S. Glad to hear you are OK! :)

  107. mmm yummy! i would love that necklace so adorable my fav doughnut would have 2 be boston creme =)

  108. I grew up eating cake donuts so they will always be my favorite. I had one with chocolate icing and sprinkles last week. I felt like a kid again.

  109. So glad you’re feeling better! And the donuts- those look scrumptious! I’m a big Boston Kreme Donut fan myself but that chocolate peanut butter one has my name all over it!

  110. i love old fashioned donuts! and i hope you feel better. my mom is also sick right now and she also has kidney failure :/

  111. I interrupted writing a paper to come check out your newest post, and while I am glad i did (that necklace is too cute), I may have to postpone writing for a bit longer (I need a doughnut and coffee). My favorite flavor is chocolate cake, or anything with sprinkles.

  112. The necklace is adorable!! This past fall a friend of mine took me to one of our local fruit farms and they have amazing doughnuts! They are so delicious and if you’re not there early in the morning, you’ll miss out! My favorites were the pumpkin, smores, blueberry, peanut butter & oreo!

  113. Love the necklace! And I love donuts, especially the cream filled ones! And I am glad you are feeling better. Our cousin had a liver transplant when she was five and she will celebrate her 25th birthday on April 5. We are big organ donor fans! She and her family will celebrate Easter at our house this year. Thanks!!

  114. Talking about donuts…one of my favorite memories as a kid is when my dad would go out on Saturday mornings and buy donuts!!!! Now I make my husband go. yum

  115. Absolutely love the necklace!!

I’ve tried out your cake balls and I must say that my co-workers are thanking you for the recipe!! They loved the cute St. Patty’s day cake balls I made!!

  116. unfortunately I’ll be working on Easter, although I do hope to rack up some baking time as well! as for doughnuts–I like the plain glazed ones. so simple and sooooo good.

  117. My favorite donut is the ‘Pink Feather Boa’ from Top Pot in Seattle. It’s pink icing with coconut.

  118. Seriously. Those donuts look delicious. It makes me want to drive to Georgia right now. Too bad I’m too far away. That donut necklace is just the cutest.

  123. So sorry to hear that you’ve been sick…and I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better! That Oreo doughnut looks amazing (as do the others, but that one literally made me drool lol)!

  124. Those donuts look yummy – and I’m in Atlanta too, so I’ll definitely be checking out Sublime. I’m not sure of our plans for after Church on Easter, but I did pull together some items for my husband’s and the dog’s Easter baskets today {and I’m having a hard time resisting the candy I bought}!

  125. Mmm…this post just solidifies my plans to get donuts in the morning!

  126. The necklace is adorable and the donuts look as if they’re to die for. Mmmmm!

    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  127. Wow, i am so craving a doughnut now. My favorite flavor is probably Boston Creme or barvarian cream. But there no doughnut places up where I live. Boo.

  128. I’m usually not much of a doughnut fan, but those pictures made me really envious. *drool* The star-shaped one and the one with the custard filling look super delicious!

Those necklaces are super adorable, too. I didn’t even know that Swarovski made jewelry; I always assumed they just did crystal figurines.

  129. My favorite doughnut is Boston cream, but if I could get my hands on one of those Oreo doughnuts you have pictured…… who knows what would happen?!!

  136. omg donut. that is all. thanks. :)

  137. My friend used to work in Dunkin Donuts and she would close down the shop everynight and bring over all the unsold donuts. I ate so much within the first week of her job that I can barely look at another donut again… until your post. Now I actually really really really want the orange creme donut!! Yum!

  147. I’ve always wanted to make doughnuts but all the recipes I’ve seen make it seem so daunting. I also want to make ice cream because I have like a zillion ice cream flavor ideas. Someday I’m going to learn how to use the kitchen and all my dreams will come true.

Apart from 1 family lunch, I plan on spending Easter weekend baking cupcakes, maybe treat myself to some donuts, and watching girly movies. My boyfriend is away so I have the house to myself. He may come home to find that I am 5 pounds heavier. But oh, it’ll be worth it.

  152. I miss donuts… just recently I started getting heartburn from those little lovelies… bummer huh?? But the best donuts, by far – for me… Party Time Donuts in Sacramento (CA) Apple Fritters yummmm and Lammar’s in Lincoln (NE) makes a blueberry donut that is too good for words!

  157. Love, love, love your site. I’ve only been foloowing for a little while, so I hadn’t seen the previous years’ Easter creations. I think my 10 year old and I are going to try the pink and white bunnies. Too cute. She’ll love it, and we’ll make ourselves sick eating them I’m sure, but it will be FUN!

Glad you’re feeling better. Thank you for sharing your story about organ donation.

  158. I made a batch of your cake pops as practice for a baby shower I was going to be throwing. It makes so many that I brought them to clinicals to share with the nurses (I’m a student nurse) and I discovered that the cake pops made me pretty popular. So now I bring goodies every week… that way the nurses aren’t as reluctant to work with a student. I’m in my last semester and my only regret about this goody bringing business is that I didn’t think of it earlier.

  159. We are doing some family things for Easter. Church, an egg hunt for the kids, lunch with the family and of course the Easter Bunny is visiting! Thanks for the giveaway! SO CUTE!

Donuts are the best!!! So much so , it’s what I do for a living, Going out 5 nights a week and standing over a hot fryer practically wading thru glaze and icings.

In the end it’s all worth it to hear our customers tell me how much they enjoy them, and watch to see what everyone’s favorite flavors are. As for me, mine is a Miami Danish… yes it is a donut…. luscious buttery flakey layers, bathed in a honey glaze. Like eating the best croissant ever, only fried.

  175. When I was a freshman is college, almost…gasp…40 years ago, there was a doughnut shop. I think it stayed open all night, or maybe it was just always open when I needed it. We would go up there to have a doughnut–which I believe cost 8¢. They would even deliver to the dorms, so we would gather up enough people to order a dozen doughnuts to get us through the long evenings.

I graduated, left town, and it was 5 years before I saw another Shipleys, on a trip to Galveston. For the last 30 years, we’ve always ended our annual trip to Galveston with a stop at Shipleys as we left the coast. It was our consolation prize for forcing ourselves to leave the coast and return to our landlocked existence.

I must be living right, because 3 years ago, they built a Shipleys in my town–just a couple of miles from me. Bliss I tell you, bliss!!!!

  176. every Sunday we go to Nana’s for coffee and donuts. Everyone comes, sons, daughters, inlaws, outlaws, children and grandchildren. We all gather on Sundays for donuts and to catch up on everyones week. It is one of the highlights of the weekend.
