Pop Star: Amie in Texas
“One of my friends asked me to make a treat for her boys’ Halloween Party this past year. She really liked the cakeballs that I had made for Easter so I decided to make them again. As I was thinking about how to decorate them… I thought making them look like Eyeballs would be PERFECT!! So here they are… Red Velvet cake balls covered with Vanilla Candy Coating, gummy lifesavers for the iris and an upside down chocolate chip for the pupil!! The veins were made with some red gel icing. Needless to say… they were a hit!!” – Amie

Ew! Gross and totally cute, all at the same time. How yucky, and perfect, to bite into one and have red velvet cake! I’m sure the boys LOVED biting them!

October 24, 2010 03:43 PMI would just use blue or green chocolate melts for the iris and stick the chocolate chip in before it dries.

October 28, 2010 11:22 AMI love everything about cakeballs and bakerella. Your eyeballs are very cute. I just went out to the store to buy everything to whip me up a batch for my son’s Pre-k Halloween Party tomorrow. I hope they turn out as good as yours.
October 28, 2010 06:55 PMI tried to make these and it didn’t work. The candy coating was just so thick and the red velvet cake kept crumblng off. Sad. It was my very first attempt and I’ll definitely be trying them again!
