I think these are my favorite cake balls that I’ve seen in the pop stars section!! What a creative idea!
Thank you everyone! The shape was just hand-formed to get the smoothness. They are double dipped…white first (then dried) and then just the Wilton green melts. After they dried, I then used Wilton lime green color dust to dry paint on the lighter green. Hope that helps!
omg, these are perfection. Absolutely adorable! I must try to make them using your tips :}
I absolutely LOVE these! These would be perfect for this BBQ on Saturday, but I don’t know if I could make them look this good. The seeds are such a cute touch!

I would love to know how you did these. My daughter is is planning a party this summer and these would be fantastic.
Thanks for sharing
I see a lot of people asking the secret of how to make these in the round shape. Can you share your secret, my daughters b-day is coming up and watermelon is her favorite fruit. This would be a great surprise if I could make for her. Thank you!
She probably used pink strawberry cake or red food coloring to color the inside. You could also do orange or yellow for different color ‘melons. watermelons don’t only come in red, you know. As for the chocolate chip seeds, she probably mixed a few mini chocolate chips into the cake crumbs as she was mixing the frosting in. You probably could flavor a white cake with watermelon flavor if you’d like.
I did mine with a white cake and flavored it with watermelon jello
I was even thinking I could add in some rum or watermelon rum to make separate ones for the adults, has anyone experimented w/a frosting/rum mixture before?
Ohhhhhh my! I have to try these!!! :-D
I just made these and they turned out *JUST* like the pictures!!! I used White Cake Mix and added red food colouring and I found Watermelon flavouring to use :) I used mini dark chocolate chips for the seeds. Dipped in white, then dipped in green and painted the lines on with Wilton Leaf Green powder. They are BEAUTIFUL and sure to be a hit at my son’s fundraiser! (not that I’m competitive or anything – lol) Thank you for the amazing idea Kerry!!!
I would love to know how you made these. My mom and I are going to try and make them for a party next weekend. Could you possibly email me the recipe? firstname.lastname@example.org
