Happy Meals… Cupcake Replay

Brownie Burger Cupcakes & Cookie Fries

Father’s Day isn’t too far away and I wanted to do a little replay of a fun project from almost four years ago. Yikes, that’s weird to say. Or type. Sometimes I can’t believe how long I’ve been baking and posting treats here. And that I still love every minute of it. This project goes so far back on the site, I thought it would be fun to share again for new readers because it’s one of my favorites. And it’s one I remember being so giddy over as it all came together in my kitchen.

Sugar Cookie French Fries

I think it was the french fry cookies that sent me over the top. I love how they turned out.

French Fry Cookies

Sugar cookies for fries and sugar for salt. So sweet!

But the other part I love about this project is the presentation. I made templates for the paper tray, printed tissue and french fry containers… all for Father’s Day. It totally pulls the whole look together. And I promise you’ll fool people at first glance.

Here is the original Father’s Day Fast Food Fun post with instructions. Make ’em and make dad happy!

And because so many of you loved these the first time around and wanted to make them for the Fourth of July, here are some new templates for the most requested events. Hope they come in handy! And there’s a blank french fry template if you want to fill in with your own phrase.

Oh and if you decide to make these for the Fourth, you could go for the “full meal deal” … cupcakes disguised as snow cones would so be an over-the-top way to cap off your cookout.

  1. This look delicious. Will try the receipe.

  2. Cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I would love to have a template that says # 1 teacher. I tried to create my own but couldn’t figure out how to slant the text! All your goodies are just adorable. I envy your talent!

  3. I love these little “burgers” and just got my 3rd request from my nephew for them in as many years for his birthday. I make a donation to Ronald McDonald charities and, in exchange, the restaurant gives me burger boxes and fry bags. It’s a great way to present them.

  4. These are always my most requested cupcakes at work and at home. They are also great to do with kids. In fact, I am about to go visit my grandsons and I have never done these with them. So guess what I’m going to do. Thanks for bringing back an all time favorite. P. S. I use brownies for the hamburger.

  5. Yeah it’s pretty amazing, the cream part was delicious. Of course, I don’t like blueberries so I can’t speak for the rest… but i heard it was delicious.

  6. mmm interesting sweety..

  7. I’ve made something similar to these before. I’m sure yours are 10x better, but if you’re in a pinch or want something a little easier to make… you can take 2 Nilla wafers, 1 Keebler grasshopper cookie, and a little icing (red, yellow, green) and put them together! A couple “potato fries” chips on the side makes it cute too.

  8. Super cool ideas! Thanks for sharing!

  9. This is my all time favorite idea! I’m so glad that you reminded me—my three grandchildren are moving from 3500 miles away to 35 miles away! This looks like a perfect welcome present, no?

  10. We made these last year and they were a BIG hit! I linked up to you here: http://www.thesweatmanfamily.blogspot.com/2012/06/happy-fathers-day-2012.html

  11. The burgers and fries post was one of the first ones I read on your blog. I don’t even remember what led me to your post back then. I can’t believe it’s been over 4 years. Time flies!

  12. My friend made these for her son’s birthday, and when they were presented to a room full of 2 and 3 year olds, they all rebelled and refused to eat them because they wanted cake, not hamburgers. After parents showed them how it was cake and cookies, they finally relented and ate them. I stole my son’s meal….it was so yummy.

I like to go to the fast food fun post and look at it, just to review it and see the mouth-watering pictures! I hope you will post more food like desserts in the future. Your so awesome!
