Cake Pops

It’s real. It’s printed. It’s on its way to warehouses and bookstores and stuff. And, it’s crazy. When I started this blog I would never have thought of myself having a book. Ever. Especially one about cake on a stick. I mean really. It’s crazy. Crazy wonderful. I can hardly believe it.

But it is real. My publisher sent me an advance copy to prove it… and I was just plain giddy when I opened it. I gave it a big hug. There was a significant amount of squealing, too.

I really have to thank all you guys. When I first started making the cupcake pops I didn’t realize how popular they would become and especially how quickly. So many of you had questions and were excited to make your own that it inspired me to want to keep making them for you. And then I wanted to make them better and see just how far I could take them. I made so many that after a while, it just made sense to put them together in a book. A book that would also hopefully help answer some of the questions you’ve asked along the way. So thanks for inspiring me to push myself.

Want to see?

Just a little maybe?

Okay. You talked me into it.

Look at the cute, colorful cover.

Hardcover. Yay!

IMG_3488

And here’s the spine…

IMG_3498

…with wiro-binding inside!

Pink wiro-binding which is extra awesome.

IMG_3504

It makes everything prettier when it’s laying flat.

Oh yeah… there’s also a bunch of pop projects inside. Some from the site and just as many brand new.

IMG_3506

And look… there’s even some step-by-step stuff. I hope this helps.

P.S. That’s me pretending to be a hand model.

IMG_3518

Pages. Real pages and lots of them.

All that rolling and dipping and decorating. The writing and photography and editing. Hours and hours at the computer. Did I really do all that? Was that me? So much work, but so worth it to see it all finished.

IMG_3509

Plus, when I look inside … it just makes me happy.

IMG_3531

I hope it makes you happy, too. Especially all of you who’ve made cake pops. Give a shout out if you’ve tried them before. I’d love to hear.

Cake Pops available in September or you can pre-order from the following…

  19. Hi

I just got given your Cake Pop book for Christmas, on the surface it looks great and I am sure I can get plenty of idea’s from it for future kids parties. BUT, I am disappointed there are no baking recipes in it. I totally refuse to by cake mixes. They are to expensive compared to buying flour, sugar eggs etc. Are their any basic recipes you have or recommend. Also I was glad that you had a table in the back for conversion. Not the whole world uses the Imperial measuring system. Half the world uses metric.

Hope there’s comments can be used for future edits and reprints.

  45. Just found your site the other night, and I’ve literally been spending hours perusing your amazing creations! I’m on my way out to buy this book tonight, and I am SO excited to start experimenting. Thank you so much, seriously. You’ve just made a semi-disabled wife and mother very happy. Now all I need is for my stuff to turn out looking HALF as good as all of yours does, and I’ll be golden!

  46. I have just started making my own cake pops. What a chore, but a fun chore! I have a few co-workers who cannot have chocolate, but want to try my cake pops. Is there anything else besides melted chocolate I can “decorate” the outside with?

  47. Congrats. I just learned of your book and cake pops a few weeks ago. I bought the book and my 10 year old triplets and I made them yesterday. They had a riot.
I will be doing a post on them with a link to your site and book. I have it scheduled now for June 15th. It will be a Kids Activities post.
Best of luck with your kidney transplant and all you are going through.

  48. I made them for the first time a week or so ago. Couldn’t believe how easy they were. They were ordered by my fiance’s boss, so it was a little nerve-racking. But tons of fun nonetheless. 58. I’m 15 years old and my stepdad got this for me as a Christmas present in 2010 and it was my favorite of everything I received! I am going to micheals arts n crafts tomorrow to get supplies for my very first batch. Wish me luck!

  59. Hi! I’m kath, I’m from the phillipines and I’m a big fan. Where can I buy this book?

  60. Congratulations! I think your book is fab – I live in the uk and have a friend who is crazy about cake pops, I am midway making my first batch.
I just have one suggestion about the candy coating – you need to give lots more ideas for alternatives to candy melts, as candy melts have got a large amount of hydrogenated vegetable oil in – the worst kind of oil that was invented to make candles in the war – that’s why it looks so plasticy when melted. Therefore this makes any cake pop with candy melt coating extremely bad for your heart! Thanks and happy baking.

  61. First time I had even heard of cake on a stick was in the fall at my niece’s 1st birthday party. What a novel idea!! I decided I wanted to try making these for my niece and nephews birthdays, people at work and even adult birthdays. What a fun twist on the traditional birthday cake! I bought the book at Costco last week before I had even seen your website and am excited to try some this weekend.

  74. Hi there!! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find out about “cake pops”. I just happened to go to the book section at Target & I saw your book. I checked out the pages and thought how absolutely neat. So today, I ordered it over at Amazon. Cannot wait to get it!!!!

  99. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I absolutely love your site. I first fell in love with it when I was inspired by one of my friends, the great woman behind WimpyChompers.com, and ever since then I have been a slave to my kitchen. I started right in strong with a whopping 48 cake pops! I made them originally with my niece and nephew for starters just to gain a little experience. Then my second time making them I made them for my nephew’s 13th Halloween birthday party. I will post the pictures to my blog, which is also new, but I’m sure your too busy to look at them so maybe someone else will and maybe give me a little feedback on what else I could try =). Anyhow I love your book (yes I just had to get it as soon as I saw it, it was like love at first sight!) and I plan on trying everysingle one and even making cake pops a holiday tradition in my family!

  100. I ordered your book an hour ago and now I have te wait for 2 or 3 weeks…Haha!

  101. How do you store the cake pops when you are finished?

  102. My two copies just arrived today. I LOVE IT!!! I bought one for me and one for a dear friend who went absolutely, totally, completely NUTS over it today. My guess is that she’s at home right now experimenting! Thanks for all the hard work that went into it!

  103. Love the book., love the pops. But what brand of edible markers do you use and how do I get them??? The ones I tried (Wilton’s) didn’t work well, so had to go to plan B…mini chocolate chips.

  104. You are so incredibly talented! Congratulations.. I just ordered your book on Amazon and cannot wait to receive it.. Many blessings and much continued success to you!

I would like to thank you for sharing your recipes with us ans allowing me to create my cake pops.

I whish you a lot of success.

  107. I finally got a copy of your book ! And you get to sign it too in Bellevue, WA. Love it !

  108. I neeed help Bakerella!
I am looking at my copy of the Betty Crocker Fall Baking magazine that features YOU!…(I love it!!)..anyway my problem is I’ve tried to make the cake pops…and am having a problem with the candy coating. (I’m using Wilton)…looks like yours… but I can’t get it to melt enough top be smooth. I made sure there was no moisture in bowl oron the spoon…but it is just too thick to coat smoothly. Can you give me any suggestions??

  109. I tried following everything and had two errors, 1. I couldn’t get the stick to stay in the pop for the life of me. It kept poking all the way through.
    2. my candy melts did not come out as nice and smooth as yours. Are you adding something else to it? I sucked at it. Can anyone help or suggest??

  110. I bought my book in September and I have been making cake pops ever since. Non-stop! I made cupcake pops for my sister’s birthday on the 9/26, some for my BFF’s bday dinner on 9/25. Mini cupcake bites for my friend’s bday on 9/24, cake pops for my cousin’s bday 10/3 and more for my cousin’s daughters 7th bday 10/10 and I also have a dinner party that same day which I will be making cake pops for. And now a wedding 10/8! Hello? A Freaking Wedding! How exciting! Okay Bakerella, see you in Chicago! I can’t wait! I also hope the weather cooperates too! Chicago weather is crazy….and so are the people! LOL! Dress warm!

  111. I really, REALLY want this book…. but I can not get it yet…. sigh : ( My daughter is driving me crazy wanting this book. She is 11 and loves to bake with me. She walks around the house and says “I wonder what Bakerella will come up with next!!” LOL I love that kid. Maybe soon she will have her wish and get the book… i know I want it too. : )

  112. Wow. I am a big fan of baking, absolutely love it, but I didn’t know anything about cake pops! I actually came across your book accidentally during one of my many searches for a new cookbook on amazon.com. As soon as I layed eyes on it, I knew I had to have it! It’s funny because I had already decided that my next adventure would be lollipops. And whalaa! There was your book. Of course I promptly ordered it on September 20th (I got it as a belated birthday gift (September 12)) and I am anxiously waiting it’s arrival. I’m looking forward to diving in on these cool baking projects. Thanks for sharing! :)

  113. omg! this book is at my book fair, i cant WAIT to buy it tommarow!!

  114. Hello,

Recived ” the cakepops book” from the US here in Belgium. Can’t wait to start !!!

  115. Hey! I was just wondering how you get the candy melts to melt so thin? I use chocolate chips usually and maybe the candy melts are different but they always come out of the microwave kind of thick.

    Thanks in advance!

  116. I finally received my copy in the mail yesterday. I was soooo excited and to no surprise the book is FABULOUS. Great job and I love how colourful it is!! I can’t wait to try making some of yours and my own cake pops!! Thanks again!!

  117. Great book, wish there had been more detail on how you made the bride and groom, getting the tux together, need more information.

  118. I just got my book on Saturday and I have to admit I sat in the parking lot to look through it and do a bit of reading! It’s a great book. Congratulations on your accomplishments and can’t wait to see what else is in the works!

  119. I bought your book and equipment began my first trials :)
I bought white coating, pink and orange. The white to go on my first trials. Well, i burned both bags of the white :( Think the calibration on my microwave might be too hot? I went with the double broiler than and that worked out much better cause than it was fairly easy to re-heat the chocolate.

All in all a fun night and the cakepops were a major hit with my friends.

  120. Greetings from Sunny South Africa…..I am so excited as today your GORGEOUS book was delivered to my doorstep. I am so excited. However, I have hit a bit of a problem – We do not get confectionery coating in South Africa. I could just cry buckets !!! 172. I made cake pops for the bake sale at my son’s elementary school last spring. He was a kindergartener, my first-born, and I had never contributed to a bake sale before. I entered the office during school hours, with all of my cake pops individually wrapped and tied with a bow, hoping they would pass muster at the sale after school. I went home, cleaned up, and returned later to work my shift at the sale, and was greeted with, “And THESE, these are CAKE! They are DELICIOUS! You MUST try one!” I am now the famous bake sale mom, and I have no one but YOU to thank! Don’t worry, I shared your website with all of the other moms, and will buy a cookbook to donate to the office workers. :) You’re the best!

  173. I’ve preordered my book and can’t wait for it to come. We have shared your cake pops with lots of people, and they love them. It is amazing how creative people start to get with them. THANKS!

  181. My copy has been on pre-order for months and I can’t WAIT to get get it :). Congrats on your book, I am sure it’s going to be one of my favorite books ever :o)

  182. I haven’t looked at the book yet but I love all your ideas! I just did a project for a baby shower. Maybe for your next book if you didn’t think of it. I took bubble wands for the handles and shaped the pops as round as I could and decorated them in white chocolate and spray painted them blue and pink (the sex of the baby not determined yet). Then wrapped them in a small plastic bag, tied it with the opposite color ribbon and attached a tiny plastic baby pacifier I found at the party store. Everyone loved them. I’m sure you could do a better job than me of decorating them but the idea was a good one!

  183. So excited to make your cake pops & even more excited for your book! Just a random question: what company do you use for your pink heathered Bakerella t-shirts? I’m researching school spiritwear for my kids’ elementary school – and I love the look of yours. Thanks in advance!

  184. I can not wait to get my hands on one!! =) My little girl is turning 10 in Sept and her birthday party theme is CAKE POPS!!! =) We are going to bake in Bakerella style!! they will be little bakers and go home proud with pops and mini cakes & maybe aprons?? =) anyway… inspired by YOU!! bless you! we are both excited about baking them!
I am hoping your book comes out in early-ish September?! I will of course blog about it after we practice making them.. and again after the party! You will be featured at least twice on my humble little blog in Sept! =)

  185. I just pre ordered it I seriously cant wait

  186. I’m not a baker, so I’ve never tried any of your recipes. But I keep coming back to your blog because you have amazing ideas, and because it’s so obvious what a genuine and caring person you are. I am SO excited for you that you have your own book!
