This post doesn’t involve baking from this weekend
but there’s something pretty sweet at the end I think you’ll like.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.
Here’s Lauren’s Latest, Julie, Krissy and Jenny.
And I finally finally met Elise from Simply Recipes. Yay! Hope we can chat more next time.
Alison and Jenny. Love you guys.
And sweet, sweet Julie. Again, great job on pulling this event together.
On Sunday we had a brunch hosted by Whole Foods. Incredible food means the cameras come out.
See what I mean. That’s Dawn in the back, Julie and Jenny, and then Lindsey (Love and Olive Oil) in the front.
This might be one of my favorite pics from the weekend. It just makes me giggle at how we all do the same thing as bloggers. It’s almost uncontrollable when you have a camera in your hand.
But in our defense, the flowers were pretty cheery.
I enjoyed this weekend so much.
Hi Emily (Sage Recipes) and Kiran (Kirantarun)! It was nice meeting you both. Hope to see you again. And you too Droolius and Simply Southern Baking.
Thanks for a weekend of great memories with old friends and new!

So now the fun part.
I’m having an amazing giveaway today.
If you read last week’s post, you may remember some of the new products I talked about from the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. One of them was this Kitchenaid mixer in Crystal Blue, the brand new color from the Catalina Collection that I fell in love with.
Well, I met some of the folks from Kitchenaid in Chicago for the first time and and then coincidentally, we met again in Orlando the very next weekend as they were one of the sponsors of Food Blog Forum. It was a surprise to see them two weeks in a row. We talked about how much I loved the brand new color they debuted in Chicago and we thought it would be a fun giveaway here on bakerella.com.
Want to brighten up your kitchen and be one of the first people to own a mixer in this brand new, bright blue color courtesy of Kitchenaid? I know I would. It’s such a happy color. And much more vibrant in person.
Enter for a chance to win this Crystal Blue 5-quart Artisan Stand Mixer from Kitchenaid!
- Just leave a comment on this post here on the website and answer the following question.
- If you could only eat one kind of sweet/dessert for the rest of your life, what would choose? And not just cookie or cupcake, etc. – but what kind if you can? I’m very curious.
- Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 28th at 5 pm ET.
SORRY, TIME’S UP! Winner Announced Below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
oh and FYI – the Crystal Blue color should be available for purchase starting sometime in April.
Reading all of your sweet choices are driving me crazy. I have cravings now for way too many treats.
I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.
Okay, ready for the winner?
It’s comment #6224 – Leann
Congratulations and enjoy your bright blue baby. Hope you make lots of amazing desserts and smile every time you look at it.

Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing. Yum!
Plain old chocolate ice cream. I think it’s seriously the only dessert that I never tire of, and it’s incredibly adaptable. Add strawberries – it’s healthy :), add peanut butter – it’s delish!
I would pick Turkey Hill Party Cake ice cream. Absolutley THE best ice cream. I love it!
Anything with chocolate and coffee!
chocolate peanut butter ice cream!!!! oh, wait…chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting!! oh, but then there’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s!! there seems to be a pattern here :)

A cupcake. I’m not too particular about flavor as long as it has cream cheese icing :)
Oh man, only one kind for the rest of my life? But there are so many!
Well, I’ve been craving this for awhile now, so I guess I’d go for Egg Custard Tarts. It’s got a wonderful, light and smooth filling, with a delicious buttery, flaky pastry. It’s not too indulgent or sweet, so I wouldn’t get tired of eating it too soon, and I wouldn’t get diabetes or cavities as easily if I were to go for something like brownies or oreo truffles.
I’ve been saving up to buy a mixer for my dorm in college, but it’d be awesome if I got one for free, of course :) Thanks for the opportunity!
Double Stuf Oreos!
My favorite dessert is TIRAMISU!!!! In any form or fashion…cupcakes, torte, cake…. Does it get any better than coffee, mascarpone, cocoa and ladyfingers?!?

I would definitely have to have my Killer Chocolate Fudge Brownies. These are so incredible! They taste like thick pieces of gooey chocolate fudge!! Sinfully Delicious!!!
I hope to never be in a situation where I can only eat one dessert for the rest of my life!
I think I’d have to go for the chocolate chip cookie. There are so many variations that I could feel quite happy!
My favorite dessert is anything with chocolate and peanut butter. I just can’t help myself… I think peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are probably the most common thing made around my house. And they don’t usually last very long… :)
Well, it’s gotta be something chocolaty (duh!), and, based on my – admittedly scarce – cooking abilities, I’ll have to go with dark chocolate mousse. Yummy!
I could honestly live off of snickerdooles. But not any snickerdoodles….my family recipe. :D
I would love a creme brûlée that actually has chocolate cookie crust (like a cheesecake crust), because cheesecake and creme brûlée are my two ultimate faves!
Brownies! especially when they are hot out of the oven, and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I don’t think i could ever get sick of them
Probably chocolate chip cookies. Then you have the option of baked cookies or cookie dough. Perfection!
Cheesecake with raspberry (ok, maybe strawberry) drizzle. Not only do I love it, but it is one of the only types of cake that my other half likes!
Only ONE? Oh, that would be so sad. . .I would have to choose ice cream, and today the flavor would be salted caramel. YUM!
What a beautiful mixer! Mine Kitchenaid is ancient! It still works well, but I sure would love a sparkly new one.

My favorite dessert has always been and will always be chocolate Marshmallow cake(with 7 minute frosting.)
My 92 year old Mom still made it for my birthday this past year!
Well, it would definitely need to be a chocolate dessert… a piece of flourless chocolate torte or a gooey dark chocolate brownie would keep me happy.
It would be Banoffee – a toffee and banana concoction made by boiling condensed milk in the can for 3 hours. 3 scary hours as you watch it and hope it doesn’t explode and destroy your kitchen!!
I think I could choose a basic brownie. Cant go wrong with chocolate! :)
What a tough question! I’d have to say yellow cake with chocolate frosting–simple, yet delicious!
I could eat soft, ginger molasses cookies all day, every day!
Definitely, devil’s food cake. Chocolate is a great reason to keep on living.
So hard to pick just one…I think red velvet cupcakes yummo! Fingers crossed that I win – I love this colour and have always wanted a kitchenaid xx
The dessert would have to contain the world’s most perfect fodd…PEANUT BUTTER.I would have to say chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!!
Oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries and almonds, please! Thanks for this generous giveaway!
Easy. 1886 Cafe’s Banana Pudding at The Driskell in Austin. it is to die for!!
My Grandma’s Christmas cake. No kidding.
It was mailed across the country every Christmas wrapped in crinkly cellophane and tied with a ribbon, I can still smell it’s savory fragrance. It may be that my one favorite sweet is also one of my favorite childhood memories. Thanks for prompting this heavenly moment.
I would love my favorite cookie…it’s a chocolate chip cookie with almonds and coconut added….and amaretto instead of vanilla! DELISH! My neighbor loves them, too…so I make them for him (and his family) a few times a year…just so I can sneak a few first! I can’t keep the whole batch…or I’d be 400 lbs!

I love the blue kitchen aid!
Vanilla ice cream on warm brownie with a drizzle of hot fudge and fresh strawberries.
Easy! It would probably be Retro Bakery’s Milk & Cookies cupcake! So good!
You realize how difficult this question is!?! But as I was scrolling through the comments and I saw chocolate chip cookies with nuts (check) brownies! (check) etc…. I realized there IS one thing I wish I could have EVERYDAY. They stopped making it a couple years ago – the most maddening moment of my life – Starbuck’s Mud Pie ice cream!! Absolutely!! The TRUE flavor of coffee ice cream, with Oreo cookies, swirled with thick ribbons of fudge!!!!!!! It’s the best! I mourn it’s absence in my life!!!! Anyone else feel the same?
Oh and Bakerella – you’re pretty cool too. :)
Such a difficult question since I thrive on variety, but I have a bottomless pit when it comes to New York Cheesecake and can seen eating that for the next millennium.
I would eat home made Gingerbread Cookies every day forever.
Our family has the very best gingerbread cookie recipe.
A new Crystal Blue Kitchenaid will help us make Gingerbread Cookies more often.
I found a recipe for the pie they make in the book/movie “The Help” and it is SO GOOD. It’s like a brownie pie. (And yes, I make it without the sh**!). Made with a homemade crust it is irresistible.
I think I would like to have either my Grandmother’s pumpkin pie or strawberry shortcake…she has passed away, and I know I will never have them the same way again, but they remind of my childhood and holidays and i could eat them forever!
Cadbury Mini Eggs. Really, any decent quality milk chocolate, but you wanted specifics :)
Warm Homemade apple pie with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream!
The Disney World looks like sooo much fun! If I could only choose one dessert to eat for the rest of my life I would have to go with Japanese crepes with red bean filling, green tea ice cream and whipped cream. So delish!
4 egg angel cake with whipped cream frosting and strawberries…strawberries are my favorite and this cake that my grandma makes when I’m lucky enough to visit her on my birthday only makes them better!
Chocolate cookies forever! Or oreos…. ahhh, so hard to choose! But definitely a chocolate cookie of some sort :)
If I could have one dessert for the rest of my life it would be Reese’s cheesecake. The perfect combination of chocolate, peanut, and deliciousness!
those little cadbury crunchy easter eggs. they are total candy crack. someone could leave a trail of them on the floor and i would totally get trapped under the box at the end of the line.
Love kitchenaid and I am in need of a new one, great giveaway!!! I think that I would have to choose ice cream, I can eat it everyday throughout the entire year. Currently my favorite flavor is black raspberry chip, the best of both fruit and chocolate!
I would pick chocolate chip cookies because they’re milk’s best friend. :)
It would be Skittles!
If I had to pick one dessert, it would definitely genuine key lime pie with whipped cream, not meringue! I have gone to Key West just to try it from the source! Soooo good.

Okay – the family voted, it would be strawberry shortcake. “U pick” strawberries come into season here in GA next week – can’t wait!
hmmm…. tough call! but my all time favorite dessert is white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, I think I’d have to pick that!
If I could only eat one sweet for the rest of my life (and oh, how I would hate that!) it would have to be “dirty potato candy”. The mixture of sugar with the coconut and cinnamon makes a truly satisfying small bite. Knowing that it would be my only treat forever it would probably be better to indulge in small bites.
Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Just a little bit of good for you in so tasty a cookie.
Hi! First off, I gotta say that I love that colour too :)
My favourite dessert are cupcakes. Mint/chocolate cupcakes! YUM :)

I would probably choose pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. It’s by far my favorite.
I’m with Tiffanie- my grandmother used to make an almond flavored cookie dipped in chocolate and chopped nuts, and my gram was typical old school. Ask her for a recipe and it’s either “a little of this” or “whatever you have on hand”…Shes been gone nearly 3 yrs now, and every holiday I try and duplicate her recipes…I’ve only been able to come close, but haven’t hit on it yet! At least my kids and I are having fun trying! (That was probably her intention all along:)
Chocolate chip ice cream. I just happen to want ice cream ALL the time!
Hands down, red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting!
ahhh I would definitely have to say that if I had to have just one for the rest of my life it would have to be a classic, fudgy chocolate brownie, because then I could dress it up with a gooey butterscotch caramel syrup or pecans and have it warm and cold right? :P but this is actually the hardest question, i need every kind of dessert to get me through the day!!!! :D
your blog is amazing, i absolutely love your designs and recipes, keep up the awesome work!!! xxx
The dessert I would eat for the rest of my life would be my moms rice crispy treats. especially the ones she adds peanut butter to. Yummo.
My favorite yummiest dessert is one that I can no longer get my sugar loving fingers on…..darn ! Blum’s of San Francisco had a
wonderful Coffee crunch cake. There was a Blums in Pasadena, Los Angeles, as well as San Francisco. So about the cake it had chunks of Honeycomb on the outside of the cake on top of the mocha frosting. Valerie’s of the Chocolate fame here in LA have tried to remake it and almost have but not quite !
Since I could only pick one- I’d have to say a chocolate mint brownie. Could probably never get enough chocolate or mint. Love your blog. Love to cook!

My favorite dessert would be Apple Slab pie with caramel sauce and a scoop or two of vanilla bean ice cream on the side. Yum yum.
I would have lemon mousse! I don’t make it that often, but the freshness of the citrus and the creaminess of the mousse is so yummy!
Coconut Cream Pie, my favorite and I never get it because the rest of my family hates coconut.
The blue color of this Kitchenaid is fantastic.
I am such a chocoholic that my favorite dessert is actually one I created called a German Chocolate Silk Cake and believe me there is no flour in this dessert, just lots and lots of Callebaut chocolate. I have wanted a Kitchenaid mixer since I was a child. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this amazing prize.

You’ve posed a very tough question too. I’d have to choose chocolate chip cookies… But I’d be really sad about losing cheesecake, coffee cake, chocolate muffins, peanut butter cookies etc.
it would be cheesecake… definitely cheesecake. I literally can not resist it…it’s my weakness.
Such a cute mixer!
