This post doesn’t involve baking from this weekend
but there’s something pretty sweet at the end I think you’ll like.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.
Here’s Lauren’s Latest, Julie, Krissy and Jenny.
And I finally finally met Elise from Simply Recipes. Yay! Hope we can chat more next time.
Alison and Jenny. Love you guys.
And sweet, sweet Julie. Again, great job on pulling this event together.
On Sunday we had a brunch hosted by Whole Foods. Incredible food means the cameras come out.
See what I mean. That’s Dawn in the back, Julie and Jenny, and then Lindsey (Love and Olive Oil) in the front.
This might be one of my favorite pics from the weekend. It just makes me giggle at how we all do the same thing as bloggers. It’s almost uncontrollable when you have a camera in your hand.
But in our defense, the flowers were pretty cheery.
I enjoyed this weekend so much.
Hi Emily (Sage Recipes) and Kiran (Kirantarun)! It was nice meeting you both. Hope to see you again. And you too Droolius and Simply Southern Baking.
Thanks for a weekend of great memories with old friends and new!

So now the fun part.
I’m having an amazing giveaway today.
If you read last week’s post, you may remember some of the new products I talked about from the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. One of them was this Kitchenaid mixer in Crystal Blue, the brand new color from the Catalina Collection that I fell in love with.
Well, I met some of the folks from Kitchenaid in Chicago for the first time and and then coincidentally, we met again in Orlando the very next weekend as they were one of the sponsors of Food Blog Forum. It was a surprise to see them two weeks in a row. We talked about how much I loved the brand new color they debuted in Chicago and we thought it would be a fun giveaway here on bakerella.com.
Want to brighten up your kitchen and be one of the first people to own a mixer in this brand new, bright blue color courtesy of Kitchenaid? I know I would. It’s such a happy color. And much more vibrant in person.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!
oh and FYI – the Crystal Blue color should be available for purchase starting sometime in April.
Reading all of your sweet choices are driving me crazy. I have cravings now for way too many treats.
I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.
Okay, ready for the winner?
It’s comment #6224 – Leann
Congratulations and enjoy your bright blue baby. Hope you make lots of amazing desserts and smile every time you look at it.
And big thanks to Kitchenaid for supplying the mixer in this beautiful blue.
Hmmm… I would pick “Basler Läckerli” it’s a delicacy from Switzerland. Cookies that are delicious but no tooo sweet so you won’t get fed up if you have no alernative in food =)
I would love to have a Kitchen Aid, but they’re just too expensive. Thank you for this opportunity!
For special occasions my Nonna sometimes makes a frozen layered rum cake with vanilla ice cream and a biscotti crust. It’s such a treat, I wish I could have it every day! :]
My home made flan, from the recipe passed down from my abuela to me.
My favorite sweet is a Pillsbury recipe called Peanut Blossoms with Hershey’s kisses on a peanut butter cookie. Delicious! There are several versions of this recipe, I like the original.
Petit Fours. I loved them as a child and for years, when I was raising my children, could not find them. However, they are in vogue again. They are so delicate and melt in your mouth. Just plain vanilla ones.
My mom’s brownies!
German Chocolate Cake!
Only one dessert? Nothing more? – That’s horrible!!
Well, let’s see; I could never skip chocolate… and strawberries … and some light cream… So maybe my one and only dessert would be chocolatechip-muffins with strawberry-cream-cheese-frosting… but I also like apricot and mint and … nooooooooooo!!
I would eat really good chocolate cake made from scratch.
There was this one cheesecake with a hint of orange flavoring I tried at a cafe once. AMAZING. I could eat it forever.
I have to say: Sweet and warm challa bread with butter
I love eating Coconut Cream Cake with Marshmallow Frosting. It is my absolute favorite and I order it whenever I go out to eat, if it is available and I make it in my own home quite frequently. When I’m asked to bring a cake to family events I make my favorite Coconut Cream Cake with Marshmallow Frositng. I love that cake so much.
I think it would be tiramisu ;)
I believe I could exist solely on the peppermint ice cream that the stores come out with every year. I try to stock up so I don’t get hit with a craving come June. You all know you do too!
I would choose french macaroons. The colors and flavors are never ending.
The dessert that I would have for the rest of my life is warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce on top. It is just a comforting basic dessert filled with childhood memories.
I’d probably pick a layered Black Forest Cake. Perfection.
(P.S. Love your blog!)
I do not know! I love rice Krispy treats, but also crave cool, creamy vanilla ice cream.
Bronte pistachio ice cream. I love it!
Milk duds!
Oh gosh. Creme caramel. It is my “special dessert” with my husband. :) We always have it for special occasions!
I would go with creme brulee, I love it and I only have it when I go to the food and wine festival at Disney. Thank you for the giveaway, I love the blue color it’s my favourite!
Only one??!! If I had to choose it would be my grandma’s lemon meringue pie, it is the best dessert ever! Thanks for the chance to win!!
Great post!
Probably fruit tarts with coconut pastry cream. Made with fresh coconut juice and flesh. They’re my specialty and they are darn tasty.
Hi,
I think,it would be tiramisu :)
Oh man oh man oh man, that’s really hardddd! I *think* apple crumble, with a side of mint chip ice cream. And maybe caramel sauce.
Definitely Szarlotka is the number one for me!Thick layer of cinnamon-scented apple chunks between two layers of shortcrusts pastry. So simple and so delicious :)
Hmm…this is such a hard decision for a sweet lover like me! But I think it would have to be my mother’s lemon bars. I am a HUGE fan of lemon and I think her recipe is the one from a Star’s Bakery cookbook (the old place in San Francisco). It’s an amazingly tasty lemon bar. The crust is crunchy and thick and the lemon filling is the perfect amount of sweet and sour. Best lemon bars ever. :D
Haha, I know the feeling of going to events with a bunch of photographers/bloggers. Everyone has to bring out their cameras to take the same pictures. lol. Looks like a lot of fun in Florida! :)
My mother’s apple pie (which is adapted from my Grandmother’s recipe)… It is how every Thanksgiving and Christmas should taste, and luckily I know the secret recipe too, so I’ll be able to pass it on to my own kids someday!
If I had to pick one dessert, it would be Chocolate Meringue Pie, like my grandmother used to make. I still have her pudding recipe and it is so versitile…pudding or cream pie filling and you can make it whatever flavor you wish! And if I win the mixer, I can make it all the time!!!
My mother in law´s homemade vanilla icecream. It´s both my children´s and my favourite =)
I would definitely go with a chocolate caramel and vanilla milkshake sooo delicious!
Cheesecake. I could eat it everyday!
The dessert that can always make me order dessert if it´s on the menu, or take a second piece of cake is Cheesecake
The simple soft, creamy kind… Love it.
I would most definitely choose a nutella and almond filled crepe!! Soooo delicious! =)
My Grandma’s Sunday Pie…chocolate deliciousness with a walnut butter crust. She always made with so much love.
I’d have to say the one dessert I could have for the rest of my life, without getting tired of it, would be rocky road ice cream =0)
Mango Mousse Cake! So so so good. :)
the color is absolutely gorg!
A no bake lemon cheese cake would do the trick for me. I get my hubby and kids to make me one each year for my birthday.
I would definitely choose lemon squares! I just found a great recipe for gluten free ones, and I cried a little when they turned out GREAT and I could finally eat them again after a break for 3 years :) it’s the little things in life… :)
I would probably choose strawberry shortcake.
i bake cakes, brownies, etc. but if i were to choose just one dessert, i would definitely pick my ninang’s (godmother) CASSAVA CAKE. she makes the best cassava cake ever. (she uses freshly grated cassava all the time and fresh milk which she purchases daily from the farm). i tried to make her recipe but hers taste better. lols. i am an asian and we love cassava, we even plant it in our backyards.
If i could only have one dessert for the rest of my life it would be tiramisu. The creamy marscapone is delicious !!!
What a hard question! I’d like to pick 10 or so, but I’ll have to say a dark chocolate brownie-coffee ice cream sandwich.
my australian chocolate mud cake cupcakes! they are delicious! i would gain a ton of wt, but they are good enough they dont even need frosting! yum!
My mom is from Spain and she makes a delicious flan, so this would definitely be my choice!! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Hi there! My fave dessert of all times would be Swirly Jelly. It is made out of egg whites and palm sugar. A great dessert on a hot day and when you are living in South East Asia this comes in handy!
I love Swirly Jelly!!!!
Something sour & sweet, like a lemon bar, or lime cookies, or just plain old’ sour patch kids!
it would have to be a chocolate brownie. With nuts. And fudge sauce. Oh, and a side of vanilla bean icecream.
I could eat cheesecake for every meal! Especially lemon, but any cheesecake would do :D
I’d pick Lemon Meringue pie, love the tangy sweetness combined with the sweet meringue. Love the blue!
I would go with chocolate rasberry cheesecake topped with white chocolate crumbs and whip cream and a cherry ofcourse! Yummie in my tummy :>
Definitely dulce de leche cheesecake!
My favorite dessert is Cheesecake Factory’s Chocolate Tuxedo Cream Cheesecake. It’s sooooo good! :)
I can’t say no to a rich dark chocolate mousse, maybe with a splash of Kahlua or a dollop of whipped cream on top!
I would pick carrot cake/carrot cupcakes as they’re super yummy, I wouldn’t get sick of them, and I’d be able to pretend they were healthy!
I would definitely be chocolate chip, no…snickedoodles cookies with vanilla bean ice cream. Oh no.. its 2AM, I’m at work and I want it right now!!!
As a life long desert lover it was hard to pick just one, especially since I have a weakness for red velvet cake and flavorful pumpkin rolls. However, if I could eat only one desert for the rest of my life I think it would be sweet-potato-bread-pudding with a caramel praline sauce and sprinkled with some candied pecans.
Going along with the Disneyland theme….. I would have to say an unlikely desert- but in Downtown Disney a cafe called Napolini, they used to serve the most AMAZING peanut butter and jelly Paninis, these were way to good to be just a sandwich and I would eat them like desert whenever I could! Wonderful memories, and I have yet to find a sweet bread that can match what they used in this dream on a plate (finished off of course with a wonderful Disney diet coke!)
Jeni’s ice cream…salted caramel
omw i Think I am inlove with this mixer!!!!!!!!!
Well……I would eat a Baked cheese cake for my entire life !!!!! its is soo creamy smooth and delightful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would eat a Chocolate Grand Marnier Tart everyday if I could.
Depends on the day but today I say brownies with walnuts. But only my brownies because they are almost like fudge and the are moist inside and a little crunch on the top. Might as well add vanilla ice cream on top too.
Strawberry shortcake make with the Bisquick shortcake biscuit recipe – a large size, split, filled, topped with simple whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Or that one peach cobbler my mother made when I was 17. Yet to be duplicated. Sigh.
ahhh i’ve been eyeing kitchenaid stand mixers !! i think my forever dessert would have to be red velvet cheesecake…. mmm
Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing…yummy!!!!!!!!
Ice cream all the way
chocolate
Muffins
BUCKETFULS OF GANACHE
I’d have to pick vanilla ice cream!
I just discovered hula pie and I’m obsessed with it! It’s basically macadamian nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust and drenched with fudge. It’s served with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and a sprinkle of chopped macadamian nuts! It’s delicious!
I love Blue. It is my favorite color in the whole world. I can’t wait to use it to make some Bread.
Dark chocolate! OK, maybe it’s not quite a dessert, but a good piece of dark chocolate is my idea of dessert. And if I ever get tired of it, I can make hot chocolate or add it to ice cream or melt it and drizzle it. It’s so versatile!
Macarons
Good ol’ yellow cake (with ganache)
Chocolate tart
ICE CREAM
flour, sugar, butter, chocolate, whipped cream mixing aid, oven
then i can make pretty much anything
Pie. Lemon Lavender Pie!
If I had to pick only one dessert – it would definitely be the best ever biscoff spread cookies!!! Ever since I studied in Belgium and discovered biscoff spread (speculous) I have friends import it for me because I can’t live without it anymore. And there are so many great recipes with biscoff …. mmmmh! Yummy! I might make me some cookies right now :)
That’s a tough question. I’d have to go with chocolate cake with some sort of raspberry filling/frosting. I love chocolate & fruit combinations.
I also love that pic of everyone with their cameras.
Just one? So hard. I have actually been thinking and trying to figure out what I would choose!
I gotta say, i’m sucker for a homemade lemon tart with fresh raspberries on top. Actually, i’ll take any lemon tart!
Runners up were my mum’s flour less apple chocolate cake and my rosewater vanilla cake!
Chocolate Overdose Cake, without question. Chocolate brownie base layer, rich chocolate mousse layer, then a mocha cake layer, all covered in ganache. Chocolate overdose? Chocolate heaven, more like!
OMG If I could eat one sweet for the rest of my life it’d be dulce de leche cheesecake. I could seriously OD on that stuff… yummy ?
Chocolate chip cookies – the staple of cookies
raspberry macaroons from laudree!
Cookies and Cream ice cream! oh yeah, especially if i’m stranded on a desert…
i would choose lemon bars!!! loveee them!

I would eat my grandma’s secret recipe chocolate chip cookies!
I would have to say my grandmother’s famous pineapple rolls! Love, love, love them!

I would pick cheesecake.
Oooh, tricky, but if it has to be one, it would be POP TARTS in all the chocolate flavours… (yeah, its junk food, but its gooood!)
Blueberry Muffins! They are my favorite! Can eat them anytime day or night! Nice balalence between sweet and tart. Thanks for the giveaway, the mixer will be of good use and fit right into my kitchen!:)
Mint chocolate chip ice cream for sure!! It has two yummy things combined in one, mint and chocolate!! I love it!!
If it were anything very obviously rich and delicious (like cheesecake or pots de crème) I’d get tired of it after a few decades, so I’d probably pick some sort of mixed berry parfait with lovely whipped cream and crushed pie crust (not crushed wafers!!). It’s rich but also fresh.
But I don’t know how I’d manage without chocolate, now that I think about it…
Being a poor college kid who loves to bake, a KitchenAid would be wonderful! I never stop raving about the one at my parents’ house.
If I could eat one sweet for the rest of my life, however, that would be sweet potato brownies with whiskey caramel pecan sauce. It’s easily my favorite dessert ever!
It would probably be buttermilk chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting! oh, and chocolate jimmies on top! ;)
If I could only have one dessert for ever more, I would have to go with a brownie pudding cake with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh strawberries!
I love a GREAT cobbler, my favorite PEACH COBBLER…my mouth is watering just thinking about it. A buttering flaky crust, sweet peaches in its on juices bubbly hot! And to make it over the top, had a scoop of good vanilla bean ice cream…Mmmmmm, Yum-O!
Tiramisu……Mhhhhh……..
I would choose a raspberry tart, if I had to choose one sweet for the rest of my life. It’s the perfect combination of rich, fresh, and fruity, and not too much of either so it wouldn’t get old :) Mmmmm….
fruits!!! mangoes, plums, watermelon..grapes!
Can’t decide!
berries??
It would have to be strawberry shortcake. Nothing in the world like juicy strawberries, homemade shortcake, and fresh whipped cream. Yummy!

Chocolate chip walnut cookies!
A moist yellow cupcake with the best vanilla frosting. It is casual enough that I won’t ever get tired of it.
That’s a hard question but my favorite desert is cake. So, with that in mind, I’d like my Carrot walnut cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.
My very favorite dessert is brownie a la mode! It combines my favorites of chocolate and ice cream! How could that be bad? I LOOOVVVEEE a chewy warm brownie straight from the oven with a scoop of cool ice cream! Yum!!!

I am not a huge fan of desert but give me a scoop (or twelve) of peanut butter chocolate ice cream and I’ll kiss ya!
Chocolate, fudge brownies. Forever and always.
It surely would have to be a Black Forest Gateau that had alternating layers of vanilla and chocolate cake, each layered with freshly whipped cream that were scattered with dark sour cherries, with a ganache frosting and topped with dark chocolate curls, that way you had the works all in one.
I’d have to say chocolate chip cookies too!
For some reason, I’ve always been in love with strawberry jam. If you give me a jar of Smucker’s and a spoon, I’ll be good to go for a while!
I would definitely stick with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Ahhh, heaven! Thank you for the chance to win this mixer!!
Coffee ice cream in a waffle cone!
that is one of the hardest questions ever….. for reals.
ok, so, I’m debating between a jar of crunchy Biscoff spread (straight up with a spoon – its uhhhhhmazing!) and Sprinkles banana\dark chocolate cupcake. their banana cake is the best i’ve ever had and their dark chocolate frosting is absolutely perfect. I melt with each bite.
Hi there bakerella,

I made chocolate cupcakes with a peanut butter cup hidden inside and a peanut butter cream cheese frosting last week. I think it would be them :)
Creme Brulee. Period. :)))
I think it would have to be ice cream. Specifically, Haagen-Dazs vanilla chocolate chip ice cream. Which is odd for me, since I’m typically an all-chocolate all-the-time kind of girl. But that ice cream is just that good.
Yikes! That’s a tough one. Hmmm…probably chocolate covered strawberry blizzard from DQ.
Chicago Mix Caramel and Cheese Popcorn from Garrett Popcorn, hot out of the vat

Thanks for the chance to win!
One dessert for the rest of my life is a really tough question! I think being a Florida girl, I have to go with key lime pie with a raspberry puree and fresh whipped cream on top.
My favorite dessert has always been these little cherry tarts I make. They are sweet-tart with a brown sugar, oatmeal and pecan crumble I put on top .The crust was all buttery and would melt in my mouth. Two bites of heaven.
One of your posts reminded me of how much I luuuurrve the black and white/dark chocolate cupcake at Sprinkles. It’s delicious!

My choice of the sweets would be pastry cream filled mini cream puffs!
Just the tender ball of choux with the creamy filling, and of course, rich chocolate cascading over the whole thing.
Delicious and decadent!

Chocolate cheesecake! That combines my two favorite things to eat in the world! Thanks for the chance!
Stephanie Ellis
Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting!
Hands down I have to say strawberries dipped in chocolate or whipped cream, assuming they would be beautiful strawberries! Chocolate chip cookies would be a close second.
The color of that mixer if phenomenal!
I could eat Mexican Wedding Cookies forever! They can get messy though with all of that Powdered Sugar :)
I would have to go with cheesecake…chocolate swirl cheesecake, to be more specific. With chocolate curls on top…mmmm!
I would have to eat chocolate chip and butterscotch chip oatmeal cookies!
Today I pick macaroons. Ask me another day and I would probably pick something different.

Easy – box mix confetti angel food cake. Every meal if I could. With my hands. (oh dear.)
I would have to have my wife’s oatmeal butterscotch cookies!
I would eat flan for the rest of my days. The flan my sister-in-law makes is more cheesecake-y (Puerto Rico) than traditional Mexican flan, but it’s very good. Still my favorite is the custard, Mexican vanilla infused traditional flan. Yum!

Hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream and lots of hot fudge and whip cream. Yum!!
I could live off of the fruit tart from my favorite bakery in San Francisco. The shortcrust, custard and fresh fruit makes my taste buds swoon!

I can’t decide between Creme Brulee or a good old fashioned Carameled Apple….my two favorite treats! Such a tough choice!

To only have 1 dessert … hmmm, if I had to pick just one, it would have to be baklava.
Luv It!!!!!!
Oh ice cream for sure! Double vanilla with mini m&m’s mixed in. Yummy in my tummy!
Hands down, my mom’s homemade cheesecake recipe. I finally made it last month and it was to die for. Very creamy and actually easy. As a kid, it was my requested birthday cake. After a taco dinner. I’m eclectic.
If I could only eat on dessert for the rest of my life I would have to pick Italian Cream Cake. It is the one cake I have had for my birthday every year since I was 16 and it was also our wedding cake.
If there is only one type of dessert left , it be a mocha cake with chocolate buttercream icing. And if you allow me to have a runner up dessert, it be a shortbread cookie with chocolate chips and toffee bits. A recipe I found on Farmgirlfare.com. of course this would be made from a magical butter that doesn’t make you fat or is bad for you. thanks for the giveaway!
Chocolate Chips cookies, or Red Velvet Cake…probably my Granny’s Red Velvet Cake, so not just any ol’ Red Velvet! With the good Cream Cheese Frosting of course!!!!
my favorite birthday cake: yellow cake with raspberry jam, mocha cream, covered in dark chocolate ganache.
we always get such a cake when I celebrate with my family.
I would eat Ree Drummond’s Knock you Naked Brownies because they’re oh-so-sinfully DELICIOUS! Every single care in the world goes away with just one bite!
I really love sweets so this was really hard for me but ultimately I decided on an eclair from Gregg’s restaurant in RI. They’re puff pastry is so flaky & light with an amazing melt in your mouth cream filling & just the right amount of chocolate on top.
Of course they also have a turtle cheesecake that’s to die for…
Oatmeal raisin cookies!
