Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.
They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.
In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.
I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.
Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.
Pretty awesome.

It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.

The last cookbook I bought was a gorgeous, thick and old-fashioned book of chutney and preserves recipes. Fantastic book and it kickstarted my passion for preserves. Next book I must have was going to be Matt Armendariz’ On a Stick, but I think it might have to be Miette now!

I just got Sandra Lee’s slow cooker cookbook because they finally have slow cookers in Austria now (where I live)! I am getting your cake pop book in August when a package comes from Canada and I can’t wait! We already made hello kitty’s. Some turned out, some didn’t. The most recent addition to my cookbook collection is “Baking by Flavor”, by Lisa Yockelson. I’ve already tried two cake recipes this week, and both were delicious. Can’t wait to try more of her recipes—I highly recommend it. The next book on the way: “Ratios”, by Michael Ruhlman.

I was given The Curry Bible by a friend for my birthday, and it is fantastic. The one I want to get my hands on most would be Annabel Langbein’s Great Food for Busy Lives. It has wonderful fresh recipes, and my copy is in my Mom’s care in New Zealand as I didn’t fit it my luggage when I moved.

Good Housekeeping Cookery Book: The Cooks Classic Companion. It was my dads and i used to love reading through it as if it was a story book, sadly when he passed away in february this is one of the things I pilfered from the house, along with his lovely annotations inside :) Its a greatgreat book and I use it often

The last cookbook was a gift from my mother and it’s a very, very old copy of her hometown’s community cookbook. It has all of these old European family recipes that I wasn’t able to find anywhere on the internet (the area she grew up in was mostly populated by European immigrants who came to work in the mines around 1900. Her family is from Yugoslavia) and only some of them are made by their local bakery and not at all in the city I currently live in (which is the biggest city in the state. Sigh). Some day I’ll learn how to make torchetti properly, but until them I guess I’m just going to have to drive an hour or so to get them at that bakery!

Great to hear you are baking again! The last cookbook I bought was Ottolenghi’s “Plenty” – a far cry from my usual sugar-filled books, but absolutely lovely nonetheless. I have had the Miette book on my wish list for quite some time, so it would be great to win it with the cake pans as well!

I tend to search for recipes on the web, so I can’t remember the last time I purchased a cookbook. My favorite cookbooks are those church/family/school/community cookbooks that people sell for fundraisers. Each book is like a cultural snapshot. One never knows where the next book may be found, but they sure are fun to collect.
I got the Hummingbird bakery’s cookbook last and it’s sooooo pretty as well :)
wow, miette looks amazing! here in germany are less cupcake and cakery-stores than in america. Its really depressing, cause i just love them and my baking-skills are not that good that everything i bake looks pretty cute as in such stores. :(

The last one I bought was the ‘Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cakes’, an Australian icon! The original publication was in 1981 and people are selling originals copies on ebay starting at $50. All the kids who grew up with the ‘Swimming Pool Cake’ are now mums and dads and want to re-create them for their own kids now! It really is a movement and very hard not to get swept up in it…the only problem is deciding which one to make!! Too hard!! :) x
I just got “Tavola a Tuscana” for my birthday a few weeks ago. It’s a great little cookbook that is filled with regional dishes from Tuscany, Italy. Each recipe is in both Italian and English. And now I can’t wait to get my hands on this book from Miette! Thank you!

I’d like my next cookbook purchase to be Planet Cake.
The last cookbook? Oh, geez, I have no idea really… I think it was the IKEA cookbook. (Since I can´t afford to buy all the wonderful books there are, I usually just find recepies online). I would love to have this one though as my next cookbook! Just looking at the images makes me drool a little, hihi!
The last cookbook I got was “Favorites” a collection of recipes from a local family which was a gift from a dear friend. I would LOVE to get this adorable book and can’t wait to visit such an adorable bakery :)

The last cookbook I received was my Grandmothers copy of the classic Betty Cocker Cookbook…you know, the one that is red plaid. She passed away and my stepmom saved it out of the donation box for me. As I looked through it for any notes or additions written by her, I found that I had written my name it numerous times! What a great find and memory. :)
I really want to get my hands on the new Eva Longoria penned cookbook, I am a Texas native like she is and am curious what her take is on some of the foods I grew up on.
The last cookbook I purchased was ‘Ladies, a Plate’ by Alexa Johnston. Its a wonderful collection of old New Zealand baking receipes handed down through the generations. I also have the sequel ‘A Second Helping – More from Ladies, a Plate’. :-)

The last cookbook I got was Bon Appetit’s dessert book. Huge and awesome with so many recipes it would take me almost 2 years to bake everything in it.

I bough Sky High. So far I’ve made 4 cakes from it, 2 were perfect and 2 a perfect disaster. Blame my faulty oven though, not the book.

Just a note from oversees (Holland, Europe) to let you know I love your website. I don’t think you will post your prizes oversees, but I will contribute my thoughts anyway. I most recently bought the Hummingbird Cookbook and it’s great! Hummingbird bakery is based in london and apparantly a great one. I love the oatmealcookies recipe and make it all the time because my daughter just loves them. I am allready contemplating which book to buy next. So far I only bought books that were translated into Dutch, but I have decided to expand, since it is limiting my choices. So maybe the good and classic Magnolia bakery cookbook would be a nice addition. I allready checked out if I can get the Miette cookbook over here, as well as theBbakerella books (:-)), and yeah, I can.
the last cookbook i acquired was Donuts by Elinor Klivans. on my next list is martha stewart pies and tart book.. there are several but i think that is the one i will get next.
The last cookbook I got was a community cookbook from my kids’ school, Kamehameha School. Judging from the comments, I think I need to get PW’s, but the Miette cookbook looks so cute.

The last cookbook I purchased was “Gluten Free Kid Friendly Recipes”. My son was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and my whole way of cooking is having to change. I hope to still make things look beautiful, just in a safer for him way.

Honestly, the last cookbook I bought was bakerella cake pops and I love it! I’m always searching the Internet for new recipes. I don’t have a specific cookbook in mind to get but I’m interested in getting a good cupcake cookbook, recipes from scratch. I would love to win this book, it’s so cute and the recipes look yummy! :)
The last cook book i received was Shannon Bennets My Vue, a french cook book full of deliciously sugary and duck fat loaded recipes that make your mouth water at the sight of the fine printed pages, and clearly my next book will be Miette!!!

The last cookbook I got was your Cake Pop book which I got my colleague to get it for me when he was back in the States (that time my country dont have your book out in the stores yet!).

My younger sister was visiting us in Portland from Phoenix . I wanted to take her to my favorite lil sidewalk strips to hang out. Were going inside one of the boutiques and what did I see “cake pop’s” the book. My husband and I are going through a tough hardship right now, but as soon as I’m able to that is def the next book getting added to the collection :) congrats on another amazing accomplishment !

The last cookbook I received was Apples for Jam, Recipes for Life: by Tessa Kiros. Its a nostalgic journey through the author’s life events memorised by food… delish! I’d love to buy the Hummingbird Bakery book as I’m constantly borrowing my friend’s copy. This book looks like joining the ‘wish list’ too :)

The last I purchases were, sourdough bread baking, and smoked salmon (a how to book with just the ONE recipe : ) I’d really like this one or the pioneer womans cookbook! Really I’m just a cook book freak especially the ones with lots of picture. My all time favorite though is the fanny farmer cook book, it’s got some of my tried and trues in it and hardly any pics! <3

The last cookbook I have had my eyes on was and is a super cute little book by a frenchlady Sylvie Ait-Ali and it is titled Macarons : Délices et gourmandises. It has only different versions of macarons in it and it seems it is almost as sweet a book as the one by Miette.
