Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.
They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.
In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.
I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.
Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.

It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.
And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

The next cookbook I want to get is a culinary history of sorts…Gastronomie, by Fernande Point and Thomas Keller. I THINK my last new one was Mark Bittman’s The Food Matters Cookbook…but I bought more than a dozen from The Friends of the Library sale recently and still perusing them. I KNOW my next one on preorder is the new pizza book from Zoe and Jeff of ABin5 but I have been eyeing the Miette cookbook and after seeing the pages here, it’s now a must have! Would LOVE to have it with the pans too!

I haven’t bought a cookbook in a long time. Since I have a shelf full of recipes and the internet – I probably won’t buy any in the future.
First of all, it’s wonderful to have you back. The last cookbook I purchased was “big fat cookies” by Elinor Klivens. the next cookbook I want is ” Bite-Size Desserts” by Carole Bloom . Actually, I have a list of about 15 on my wish list at Amazon.
The very last two I received were from my dear husband who bought me Martha’s Pie Book and a Whoopie Pie book while he was out shopping for himself. He’s so thoughtful! But the last one I bought myself was I (heart) Macarons ’cause darn it, I’m going to make these pretty little things. Looks like the Miette book has just about everything – so I’m coveting it now.
The last cookbook I purchased was Small-Batch Baking for Chocolate Lovers by Debby Maugans. I’m looking forward to baking on a smaller scale. My birthday is at the end of July. If I don’t win the Miette cookbook and the small baking pans then I know what I’ll be asking my DH to give me for my birthday.
I purchase so many cookbooks that I honestly can’t recall which was my last. However when I read this post and saw that adorable scalloped cookbook Miette I thought I want to get that. In fact when I first glanced at the sign I figured you had travelled to Paris to visit this lovely little shop.
This cookbook would be a lovely addition to my collection and just in time to bake some new cakes for my kids birthdays that are on August 1st and 17th. They will be 22 and 25. You’re never too old to have birthday cakes.

The latest cookbook I acquired was Paletas – about traditional Mexican style ice pops. They’re so fresh tasting because you add little but fruit and juice with some spices/seasonings to make them.

Foster’s cookbook is the last that I acquired. It is written by Sarah Foster who was a partner with Martha Stewart in their catering business. She now has a wonderful restaurant/store in Chapel Hill, NC where my daughter lives. My daughter gave the book to me so that I could make their turtle cheesecake for her birthdays. It is unbelievably delicsious!!!!!! YYUUmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..drool, drool, drool
Baking again sounds like a good sign! My last cookbook was Pat Conroy’s-love how it is laced with stories about food and life. And now I must have the Miette cookbook, I would love to make some of those beautiful works of art-and eat them too of course!
A wonderful little cookbook given to me as a gift all about eggs! I have back yard chickens and an abundance of them, so this came in handy.

The last cookbook I bought was in a Cancer Thrift Store in Carlsbad, CA on vacation last year called “De Nuestra Cocina A Su Cocina” put out by the La Puente Valley Historical Society. I love buying cookbooks at tag sales and on vacations in thrift stores or goodwill to find good local family recipes. Then I scour them to try to find new “favorites”. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Pioneer Woman Cooks and this one from Miette sounds delightful! I loved going to the Ferry Building in San Francisco with my Aunt Louise who taught me everything I know about baking and collecting RECIPES. When I was 5 she bought me a Composition Book and we would paste cut outs in there from magazines to make my own cookbook. I still have it! :) We would have loved Miette! She passed in 2006 from Melanoma and I miss her so.

I’m about to join a CSA, so many a fresh veggie cookbook of some sort. I don’t buy cookbooks anymore, because there are SO many good resources for yummy recipes online now…
The last cookbook I acquired was given to me as a surprise present for helping out a friend, called “The Stop”, it’s from Toronto’s “the stop” market restaurant and it’s all based on foods that can be obtained locally :)

The last cookbook I rec’d was The Cake Mix Doctor’s What Can I Bring Cookbook about potlucks. There is a great salad recipe in it that has blueberries and strawberries, plus a super-easy goat cheese pyramid. I would like Stephanie O’Dea’s crock pot book next, to get ready for fall and winter!

I want more than life itself to open my own bakery, and seeing this post has just increased that desire thousand fold. Would love to win that cookbook, as these recipes looked perfectly adorable.
The last cookbook I bought was the 1972 version of the Better Homes and Gardens: New Cook Book from a local thrift store. This is generally a good book and it has some really good recipies (Petits Fours) and some horrid things that will never be made (liver loaf or scrambled brains).
The last cookbook I purchased (okay, maybe not the last one, but fairly recent one…) was Sweet Serendipity from the legendary New York Restaurant. Their Blackout Cake? Yes, you’ll black out. It’s ah-ma-zing.
The last cookbook I bought was a church cookbook while I was on vacation in May. My next cookbook purchase will be another church or family type cookbook. I find it interesting to see the favorite recipes from various parts of the country.

I never buy cookbooks :-( Money is too tight, I get all my recipes from online. But after looking at the pictures of this book, I WANT IT lol. I just made cupcakes this weekend for my stepsons 6th birthday and they were amazing, makes me want to make more. And I tried piping my frosting on for the first time and they turned out not too bad; I’m going to get more different size tips and experiment! Thanks for posting this :-)

The last cook book I got was martha Stewarts baking handbook. SO far one recipe(banana bread) from the book I baked was delicious. A new favorite of my husbands.
It’s so good to hear that you feel like baking again. :0) The last cookbook I received was for a wedding gift (26 years ago) and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s so NOT your everyday cookbook. I’m really big into desserts so this would be the most fabulous cookbook to receive next!
I recently picked up a Cooking Light book. It’s so so. On a side note, I love Miette. One tip – eat those marshmallow cupcakes fast!! They melt. Wasn’t a problem for us!
