Today is my very own birthday!!! I am 34 today, and while I LOVE to bake and happily whip up all sorts of treats for relatives’ and friends’ birthdays, I just don’t feel like baking a cake for myself. So, I think my husband will be treating me and our kids to ice cream sundaes at the local ice cream shoppe tonight. Sure would be nice to have a pedestal like this for NEXT year’s birthday cake though!!!! :-) I did make a fabulous Tuxedo Cake last week for a friend’s birthday. Would have looked more fabulous on this stand!!!

March 18 would have been my first daughter’s 4th birthday. My husband and I went to a park with our 2 (almost 3) year old daughter and had a little party for her. We had princess cupcakes and released balloons for her to “catch” in heaven. Such a sweet moment! :)

These pedestals are sooooooo pretty!! I love them! The last time i celebrated with cake was….my sister’s baby shower! Cupcakes count, right? Instead of a cake we had a table absolutely FULL of cupcakes. Me, my grandma, and my sister all worked really hard to get all the cupcakes baked and decorated. It was fun. :)

I made cupcakes in January for my hubbies birthday. I experimented a little and tried making ganache. It was pretty runny and never set up, but the white cupcakes with ganache injected inside and pouring around the cakes topped with buttercream frosting, was really very delicious!

On Mardi Gras weekend my mom and I threw a Mardi Gras themed party for all of our girlfriends! I baked my very first King Cake ever and decorated with homemade cake toppers! It was so much fun!! I absolutely loved having everyone together for our girl’s day in!
An anniversary party for some good friends. It was also the first time i tried fondant! I made a 2 tier cake with fondant and ribbons. Sadly i had no pretty pedestal to put it on. The cake was good but i need something pretty to put them on!
Last weekend at our team potluck! I had so many sweets, cheesecake, pie, cinnamon buns (cause you have to try one of each of course!) that I couldn’t look at anything sweet for a week ;)
We celebrated my daughter’s 17th birthday with an old-fashioned pound cake, whichmy husband made himself. He insisted on following the recipe word for word, sifting the flour three times, and beating the butter and sugar for 6 minutes – but it was SO worth it!
