…… a tattoo cupcake just for you! I love you with all my heart.
Hi Bakerella! I love your blog. I have a question. When I cover a cake with fondant, the cake always has bubbles. How do I avoid that?
That is totally awesome!!
Happy Mothers day!
Hi Bakerella! I have a question Is there a way to make Fondant Good? I made some really cute sugar cookies, but the store bought Fondant was nasty. Any thoughts? You Rock…and Happy Mother’s Day!
This is the COOLEST cupcake I have ever seen!
Bet you gave your mom a heart attack with that title. :)I’ll take half a dozen, please!
nothing says thanks for everything like a prison tattoo cupcake. Happy Mother’s day!
So cute! That’s a much better way to get a tattoo, even though it probably won’t last as long! :)
Bakerella, you are awesome.
Marisa – It sounds like it may be your crumb coat. It should be a smooth base when you adhere the fondant. You can use the buttercream to hid any imperfections and then just smooth out the surface. Try putting it in the fridge for a few minutes and then try adding a touch of water on your knife to help smooth out any imperfections.
Anonymous – My first thought is that I would try royal icing to decorate your cookies. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but haven’t yet. I think you’ll be happier with the taste. But if you want to try another brand of fondant, try Satin Ice.
And everyone else – I’m so glad you guys thought the tattoo cupcake was cute. I wasn’t sure if it would look like one while I was making it, but I was happy when I finished it and in a lot less pain than getting the real deal.
anonymous- try marshmallow fondant. Just Marshmallow and sugar. Delish!!
I think this is one of this times a mom can be proud of her doughter’s tatoo. ;-)
Once again, congratulations. Some times it is quite difficult for me to find the right words to express my filings about your creations because english is not my language but you have to know you always surprise me and not only me. You have many fans in Spain and we are thinking on a way to pay homage to your cake balls and mini cupakes.
Thank you again.
you should totally make that into a tshirt or card. :)
That is the coolest cupcake! I love it! You’ve inspired me to do cupcakes for my daughter’s first birthday. I’ll be doing a small cake for her with your mini bite cupcakes with her name on top (like you did with Martha’s). Thanks for such great ideas!
I love the contrast of the tattoo cupcake with the cupcakes in the background with the feminine yellow icing and SPRINKLES! LOVE IT!
I love your site. I have always enjoyed baking but have been put off by the decorating. You have been an inspiration. You make it seems so easy. I have bought all the “stuff” to make your cupcakes on a stick.
Ps Would love to know how you came to this point, baking blogging…….
Did you do just one cupcake like this? Or the whole lot? Lots of work – well worth the effort! (as usual!) Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Hi!I found the best rolled fondant recipe on allrecipes.com. Instead of using glucose I used corn syrup it’s so much better than store bought! Bakerella, I was so inspired by your site, I made my own!!! http://bakerscakes.site.shutterfly.com/?cid=SHARE3SXXXX danielle

Hey. I'm thirteen and I had NO idea of what I wanna do when I get out of school. I was leaning towards marine biologist but then I saw your site and you have completely solidified what I want to to be now. Your designs are so awesome, your site is on my Favourites list. Lmao. Thanks!
P.S I have sent this site to EVERYONE I know.
LOVE the tattoo cupcake. i just discovered your site & am going through the archive- such amazing & creative ideas!!!!!!
so how would someone replicate the tattoo cupcake? my family would absolutely love it. :-) thanks!!
The cupcake top is made of fondant. You can cut out paper shapes to use as templates. Place on top of the fondant and cut the shapes to match.
Brilliant!! Thanks for the info. :-) Happy 4th!
I am over the moon with so many of your designs and ideas and you are truly a SWEET inspiration. I really would love to be daring and try my hand at homemade fondant and try to make the tattoo cupcake. Any suggestions on how to get started? Is there a template for this cupcake somewhere….I realize it was posted well over a year ago but just have to try it out!! Thanks!
I’m probably getting a tattoo VERY soon inspired by this design…only VEGAS-style. I’ll let you know when I finally go through with it!!

annette licatesi is a bogus wanna be
i have had ms licatesi’s cupcakes – they are not only not professional looking – they are phony ..boxed by betty crocker if you ask us.
Wooooow! How did you do the fine detail, ie. The writing and definition on the leaves? Your amazing by the way!
This site is wonderful, and these tattoo cupcakes are awesome. I’m going to have a go at these for the cake stall at our next Roller Derby bout. I’m sure they’ll go like, well, hotcakes! ;o)
I just started up my own in-home bakery and have solved the nasty tasting fondant issue. Marshmallow fondant. Yep, made from marshmallows and gives off a wonderful marshmallow flavor. Of course, if you don’t like marshmallows then you’re still out of luck, but most people do!
1 bag (NAME BRAND! No cheaping out) MINI marshmallows
2 lbs 10x sifted powdered sugar, and sifted some more. Needs to be fine fine fine!
2 tbs of water
Lather your work surface in crisco and separate your powdered sugar into two bowls, 1lb in each.
Cook the marshamallows in large bowl with water in the microwave. Cook in 30 sec intervals until all lumps are gone, stirring after each 30 secs. About 2 mins worth.
Dump one bowl of powdered sugar into melted marshmallows.
Dump onto greased work surface.
Grease your hands (you’ll thank me later, great spa treatment)
And start kneeding. After a few moments dump HALF of the remaining powdered sugar on top and kneed some more. About 10 mins of kneeding you should start seeing the “fondant” take over.
Slowly and cautiously add the rest of the powdered sugar. Be sure to stop if it becomes too stiff, you can always add more, but never take away.
Once your happy with your texture wrap in plastic wrap to store until ready to color or use. I usually give it about 30 mins of down time after mixing it to set.
I love the way you did the things in the background. I found that really attracting.
i am sooo loving this! great work!
Can you get fondant at Woodmans? What store can you get it at??? I am only twelve, but I LOVE baking and was just wondering, so I can try it out. =]
