I was in Columbus, Ohio last weekend visiting with some sweet friends that I’ve met through blogging… Wendy of Wenderly, Bridget of Bake at 350, and Amy of She Wears Many Hats. Hi guys! I mean girls.
Wendy lives in Ohio and invited us to spend a few days at her cabin in the woods. Has anyone seen that movie? And yes, I totally spent the weekend suggesting scary movie situations to them. What if this – and what if that. But mostly scaring myself. I definitely watch way too many SyFy Sunday movies. If you watch that channel, you know the ones I mean.
Anyway, we kicked off our fun cabining weekend with a straight from the airport pitstop for lunch and then Jeni’s ice cream. Yay!
Jeni’s is based in Ohio and I’ve been wanting to visit one of her scoop shops for some time now.
She has some incredible flavors. Or should I say splendid.
And yogurt too.
I love all the chalk writing and window words. So cute.
The inside of the store is perfect with the ceiling strung in little lights and paper garland.
You can buy ice cream by the scoop and by the pint. Whoohoo!

Like this one for flu season. Influenza sorbet.
Soothing for the sickly. Made with cayenne pepper, ginger, bourbon, honey, orange and lemon juices.
Handwritten! Love it and love how the same flavors are written by different people. What a fun way to add that personal touch.
And now I have a strange desire get a job handwriting ice cream labels. I wonder if I could add hearts and smiley faces.
By the way, if you’re in Ohio, stop what you are doing right now and run and get some of that Maple Walnut ice cream. It’s fantastic. I think that container on the top right is actually mocking me right now with all of its maple amazingness. I even tried to order some more today online, but that flavor is seasonal and isn’t shipping. Wipes tear. So get it in stores while you can.

The staff at Jeni’s was great. Super patient. They didn’t even mind the 571 samples we asked for. But I think that’s pretty smart of them, because then we ended up ordering 571 scoops to enjoy. You know … just to be absolutely sure they were good. : )

While we were laughing and sampling, we had a fun surprise. Jeni stopped in the location we were at. With several stores, we certainly weren’t expecting that. Wendy had met her before so she introduced us.

I love Jeni’s! A visit to the ice cream shop is always the highlight of visit’s to my Aunt’s in Columbus! (and I’m 28!) I’m a full-on ice cream kind of girl, although, I wouldn’t turn down sorbet or frozen yogurt if offered!
It depends on my mood :) I’ll eat anything cold and sweet. But some favorites are Hagen daaz dulce de leche, turkey hill Bronx Bomber, Friendly chocolate peanut butter. :D

ICE CREAM. Or sorbet….or yogurt…… just depends on what’s handy. I ate it every day when I was pregnant and the habit sort of stuck. Favorite flavor? Again, depends. Chocolate is good any time, peanut butter when it’s Fall, fruit flavors in the spring and summer, and a good vanilla to smooth out baked goods. I’m REALLY picky about quality, though….and Jeni’s looks delicious!

Full fat ice cream, gelato, sorbet– it’s all wonderful. My favorites are mildly exotic: ginger, coconut, mint, and banana– and they are all better with a little bitter chocolate sauce. I’d love to try some of the wildberry lavender– I made some blueberry lavender jam this year and I think the pairing is heavenly.

Ice Cream – without a doubt! And being from Ohio, I am lucky enough to be able to travel to Jeni’s shops and sometimes can purchase her lovely flavors from our local grocery stores. The Brown Butter Almond Brittle is my all time fave – crunchy, creamy, salty, sweet – AMAZEBALLS!
I’d ahve to go with Ice Cream – even though I do enjoy a really good sorbet (that influenza sorbet sounds yummy)… But, ice cream is definitely my love – growing up it was always Mint chocolate chip & then I got adventurous & tried Mom’s Maple Nt and then Butter Pecan – so things just took off from there…Now I like to try new flavors all the time…Of ourse, my old stand by when all else fails will still be Mint chocolate chip – sometimes Rocky Road :)

I was an ice cream girl, then I had babies which affected my tolerance for lactose (I can have it but in moderation). So now my love is for sorbets.
I have always been a huge ice cream fan and still am. I do love frozen yogurt, but I always tend to go toward the more “ice-cream” style flavored yogurts. Either way, I am a sucker for a frozen treat!

Oooo! Sorbet for me. My favorite was a fresh cantaloupe sorbet make by a little hole-in-the-wall place just off University Ave near the University of Washington in Seattle. This might not sound to amazing in today’s world, but this was back in the ’70’s when little specialties like this were far and few.
They also made a honeydew sorbet to die for.
We are an ice-cream family…preferably Ben and Jerry’s! This does us no good for the waist line, however it’s one of our guilty pleasures! What deliciousness Jeni’s ice creams look like!

I love chocolate ice cream, just plain old chocolate, the best. It’s even better with coke for a float!
I love it all! A dainty scoop of sorbet after a big meal, a heaping bowl of chocolate chip ice cream (with Hershey’s syrup squeezed over the top), or a stop at a local custard stand or frozen yogurt shop with my girls – it’s ALL great!
PS – my freezer is big enough for 17 pints!! Just sayin’.
I am a lover of ice cream. Pink peppermint or vanilla or chocolate are my favorite.
I love love love love loooooooooooove ice cream. I had ice cream for breakfast today. Did I mention that I love it? I will go for anything with chocolate but love branching out. I’m currently loving Graeter’s Mint Chocolate Chip.

So funny – I heard about Jeni’s influenza sorbet yesterday on a radio station . . . in Minnesota. Frozen yogurt is my favorite.
At my heart, I’m an ice cream lover but I usually go with frozen yogurt for my treat so I don’t feel quite as guilty about it. :) Thanks so much for the giveaway! So fun!

I scream for ice cream! A local shop (yay, Hodgie’s!) makes my current fav: a great ginger ice cream, with little chunks of candied ginger, yum! Boy, oh, boy do Jeni’s flavors sound out of this world!

Can anyone really pick between the three?? They are all so frozen and tasty :) I guess if I had to choose one, I would say I’m full-on frozen yogurt, although my favorite frozen treat would have to be a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream over a brownie… Yummmm! (That counts as a frozen dessert, right?!)
I LOVE ice cream, but since going vegan have been on a huge sorbet kick. So hoping I might be able to sample some yummy sorbet goodness. :)
I am ALL about ice cream. Specifically coffee or chocolate, but I really do love them all. I also love greek frozen yogurt topped with homemade apple butter and homemade candied ginger!

I absolutely adore ice cream. My favorite type of ice cream is creamy custard goodness. How are there not more places that sell custard and more flavors of custard like Jeni’s place has?!
I’ve never heard of Jeni’s but now you’ve got my mouth watering! I’m an ice cream girl all the way. The longer the ingredients list, the yummier the ice cream in my opinion!
I love ice cream, but I also really enjoy sherbets, so I guess I like anything that is cold and sweet!

I love them all! Last year I lived on a remote island where we got ice cream twice during the entire school year. I was so excited to come home and discover the crop of frozen yogurt places that had popped up around my neighborhood. Yum!

My tastebuds do not discriminate. I love ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt. My favorite flavors include black cherry, caramel, dark chocolate, and nuts.
I am all about ice cream. It’s a perfect food really. It goes with just about EVERYTHING, even my favorite malt chocolate creme brulee! I have a VERY hard time picking my favorite ice cream but my go to is anything with caramel, caramel in ice cream is heaven on earth, really.

I love ice cream! I was just reading this and getting sad about the fact that we don’t even have a Coldstone creamery in town anymore. :( I’ll have to look into getting her book so I can start making the creations myself.

I am definitely an ice cream lover I can’t even begin to pick a favorite flavor, but I do tend to gravitate toward anything involving caramel. And rainbow sprinkles (jimmies, whatever) make any frozen dessert about 7 million times better :)
