Pretty Pedestals

1

Take a look at these beautiful cake stands. That is if you can see past the skyline of sweets. I absolutely love this photo. Love it. I wish I could enlarge it and wallpaper my kitchen with it. This photo and the rest in this post (taken by Ashley Rose Photography) are photos of cakes from my friend Melody’s shop, My Sweet & Saucy. We’ve been internet buds from way back when I had a blogspot.com address. And since then, she’s gone from blogger herself, to superstar baker, making the most gorgeous cakes and working with the likes of Tori Spelling, Miley Cyrus and more. I just wish she wasn’t all the way in California. Actually, it’s a good thing I’m not in driving distance. For my waistline anyway.

5z

Oh dear. I need a pink ruffle cake in my life.

Pronto.

5

Look at all these cakes. I mean pedestals. Big ones. Little ones. Tall ones. Short ones.

Melody also has an online store where you can find them all in one place.

3

Yes, pedestals. Like this pretty little pink one. Perfect for a petite little cake.

6

Or stack two and you can fill it with sweet little treats.

2

Wait, you mean you don’t have a large and small pink glass pedestal or a sweet glass dome?

That’s terrible. Unthinkable.

Would you like one? I mean all three pieces in the photo above?

I thought you might.

Melody is giving them away to one of my readers. Yippee! Thanks Melody!

Enter for a chance to win this dome and two pretty pink pedestals.

  • Just leave a comment on this post and tell me the last occasion you celebrated with cake. Easy!
  • Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 30 at 8 pm ET. Sorry, Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
  • One winner will be chosen at random* and announced sometime Wednesday evening on this post.

Good Luck!

Satisfy your sweet tooth and check out Melody’s stuff.

I cried. I admit it. It’s my first unhappy customer and well, everyone on FB loved it. I was shocked someone would not only refuse the cake but demand ALL the money back. Long story short…I gave her half her money back and kept the cake. All 50 pounds of it. I also entered into a cake competion the same weekend and won second place. 101. Do cupcakes count? Then last night, just because we wanted some! Other than that, if you mean a “real” decorated cake…. then it was a party at my neighbor’s house! I could *SO* have used one of the delightful pink pedastals! At Christmas we have a dessert party for the neighborhood and — oh my, with so many cakes, we could decorate the whole room with pedastals if we were lucky enough to have some!

It was a lovely carrot cake that was stuck in a green Christmas plastic carrier because it is all I have. My baby (she is 30, I am 43) sister’s bridal shower is being held at home and these pieces would be lovely. To let you know, I love your blog. Peace. :)

  128. The last occasion I celebrated with a cake was about a month ago when I made my very own cake (including icing) from scratch! I made a 2-layer rainbow tye-dye cake with buttercream icing and filling, topped with sugar cookie “candies.” I got up early to attach the cookies on the cake and brought it into work Monday morning to celebrate my 1st home-made cake. Since then, I’ve discovered buttercream icing isn’t always the best when it’s made mostly of just butter :)

  149. The last moment I truly celebrated with a cake was my 25th birthday last November. I’m studying to be a baker and pastry designer at the moment, so my first thought when my birthday came around was ‘Please tell me I don’t have to make my own birthday cake!’ I love baking and it was the one day that I didn’t want to HAVE to bake a cake.

It was a chocolate cake, with a chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache frosting from a local bakery. I LOVE chocolate and have a major sweet tooth and weakness for all things sweet, and delectable, so it was a birthday to remember!

  184. I’m firmly of the opinion that you don’t need an occasion to celebrate. I made Boston Creme Cupcakes a week or so ago just because!

  185. The last time was St Patrick’s day when I made an Emerald green cake. Putting a cake on a pretty pedestal is truly the icing on it.

  186. my party! my friend brought a delicious Italian chocolate cake.

  187. I haven’t celebrate with cake since December when I made a cake for my friends birthday.

It was awesome, just like all the recipes you post. Thanks for the inspiration! I need a pink ruffle cake in my life too!
