Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.

I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.

It’s difficult to choose just one dessert, but I think I would go with my Mom’s lemon cake pie. Something magic happens when my Mom makes a pie crust.
If I had to pick one dessert to eat for the rest of my life I think that it would be red velvet cupcakes. I love the rich cake and the cream cheese frosting. I think that it may be the only dessert that I wouldn’t get sick of!

The dessert I could live on is Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch Ice Cream. When I don’t have a pint, I have made my own from their recipe book. A new mixer in that gorgeous color would help me make lots of frozen treats!
I would choose a type of chocolate chip cookie I make which is overloaded with chips and uses applesauce to keep it extra gooey extra long. It’s simple, it’s sweet, I love it!

My favorite dessert is Latvian Cake. My husband if of Latvian descent and the cake is absolutely my all time favorite dessert. It has a cookie bottom covered with apricot jam, layers of cake with with more jam in between, a yummy frosting decorated with nuts and fresh raspberries….delicious!

Oh to choose only one sweet for the rest of my life–I would have to choose yellow cake with chocolate icing, thick chocolate icing. It meets all my needs. Calls me from the kitchen to come and straighten it’s edge just ever so slightly, until the whole thing is gone. This mixer would add a lovely pop of color to my drab kitchen. I’d be thrilled to win.

If I could only pick one it would have to be “Death by Chocolate” cake. That is 7 layers of heavenly chocolate bliss. My daughters and I say this on a food show and we just had to make it. It took us all day, a very messy kitchen and three chocolate covered faces from licking bowls, spoons, and fingers. By the time we were finished making it we were so full we couldn’t eat it. We took a trip to Williamsburg to taste the real deal and we couldn’t have been more delighted. I wonder how hard it would be to make in cupcake form? Hmmm, maybe I will have to find out!!!

i woulld have to say NUTELLA, its a hazelnut spread that never lasts in my house especially when the kids find it, I love it straight from the jar using a spoon or if I cant find one my finger, we love it on fresh yummy thick bread or even toast.When I make choclate pancakes for the kids breaky I melt some nutella as a sauce…..it is so versatile and so yummy

If I had to choose just ONE dessert, it would have to be bread pudding. It can be extremely sweet ,or not, and you can add as many flavors as you can imagine to the bread as well as the toppings to it!
No doubt my one dessert would be my praline brookies. One of the easiest recipes I make, but absolutely delicious. These are expected pretty much at any gathering my family goes to. I like to make them in a cupcake pan, add a big dollop of homemade cream cheese icing and of course top w ice cream! I always say the only way u can make a brownie that is already covered in praline sauce and a cookie worse, is to drown it w frosting and ice cream. :) :) thanks for all u do! Luv the blue kitchen aid…..I NEED IT!! :-)

If I could only have one dessert, it would be the all-American classic of chocolate chip cookies- still warm from the oven and gooey!
I’d have to say a Royal cookie from the Nordstrom Cafe. It’s the best…has everything in it from coconut to dark chocolate (which by the way, is my favorite chocolate!). These cookies are dense but buttery and delicious! You can only eat one and they’re probably super high in fat and calories, but who cares, really?
The one dessert I could eat again and again is lemon meringue pie. It is just so refreshing and I love meringue and the way it just melts in my mouth. Yum!
One dessert for the rest of my life?? Hmmm, definitely warm Dutch apple pie topped with ice cream!! Heaven!!

Choosing one dessert is nigh on impossible!!! I guess it would have to be a delicious chocolate chip cookie. I would, however, hate being put in that position, because I know I would grow tired of them eventually. Variety is the spice of life!!!
BTW, that is one gorgeous stand mixer. It looks like the color of the sky when I’m out on the beach some days. Just gorgeous!!!

A sweet, creamy, rich, yummy flan.
I would pick snoopy cake. That’s my family’s name for it. It is also called Texas sheet cake, among other names. (we call it snoopy cake because my aunt always drew a snoopy on it for my cousin and it was the only cake she could eat because of her allergies. She made it without eggs so she could have some.)
If I could eat a dessert everyday and not worry about the butter and calories, it would be my mama’s 14 layer butter cake with old fashioned cooked fudge frosting:) it is pure heaven!

My favorite dessert? I’d have to say Turtles chocolates. All my favorite flavors combined in one….. chocolate, caramel & pecan. Yum!

If I had to pick one dessert for the rest of my life, I would go with chocolate chip cookies. Warm from the oven, with a tall glass of milk. It’s the perfect cookie!
Oddly, I make sweets for a living and I do not have a sweet tooth. At all. HAHA. I like savory things, especially pumpkin pie. I could never tire of eating pumpkin pie :)

I would choose a chocolate chip cookie, homemade, with not too many chips and made with milk chocolate chips. And it would have to be chewy and still warm. Mmm.

After careful consideration, I would have to say its not a cookie or a cupcake. Its a cake that I refuse to make because I can devour the entire thing. It’s Apple Betty crumb cake. Best cake I ever tasted and I think I could live eating that forever…..with coffee or soda, lol. Since I’ve had it for breakfast, lunch and before dinner before. And it has fruit so it covers another food group, lol.
My mom makes a fabulous nut torte with buttercream frosting that I could eat everyday!

My almost 7-year-old & I just love your blog! We love to bake & she loves your photos of cake pops! She is having a “cupcake wars” birthday party this weekend, her idea, too cute:-). If I had one dessert I could never give up, it would be my favorite chocolate/peanut butter cupcakes…rich fudge chocolate cake with peanut butter filling & chocolate ganache filling frosted with peanut butter butter whip icing topped with ganache drizzle & crushed salty peanuts! I’ve been baking & bringing them to every gathering lately!

It would have to be Triple chocolate truffle cake, it is light and rich, the perfect ending to any meal. – bottom layer rich chocolate mousse,next layer a light sponge cake, then a chocolate espresso cream, whipped cream layer and topped off with chocolate ganache. Yummy!!!!
oh desserts….love them all!! my real love is cookies…..to pop one in your mouth seems so guiltless! my favorite cookie….tough one….going with russian tea cakes. make them at christmas and make a batch just for me to eat. making them with the blue kitchen aid would be so much easier then all the hand mixing i do now!! thanks for the lovely give away!!

My grandmother is an amazing baker (wish i would have inherited that trait!) If i had to eat one thing it would be ANYTHING made by her especially her black bottom cupcakes or peanut butter eggs. YUMMO!!!!

The one dessert I could eat for the rest of my life is Coconut Rice Pudding Stuffed Cupcakes With Ginger Cream Cheese Frosting & Fruit. They are to die for!!
I think only my family makes these, but my favorite dessert is Gumdrop cookies. They’re delicious oatmeal cookies made with sour cream and then you stick a couple spice drops on top before putting them in the oven and they’re delicious. I could eat a whole batch in one sitting!

My dessert of choice would be dark chocloate cake with buttercream frosting…. my favorite is really the buttercream frosting, I could eat it on everything…,.it would be really nice to have the pretty blue kitchenAid Mixer to make it in…..Yummmm
From my childhood “bumpy cake” ! Saunders, located in the Detroit area, has made these great cakes forever. The cake is a devils food cake with deep chocolate frosting. The bumpy part is the buttercream frosting they use to ice it, 3 large bumps of buttercream on top…the best. 2 years ago I stopped @ a bakery while I was visiting there, located in Birmingham , Michigan and they were doing their version of a bumpy cake cupcake…awesome !
