Photos and a little fun

This is going to be fun. Shutterfly has offered to sponsor a giveaway that I think will make you happy. You know Shutterfly don’t you. I bet a bunch of you guys have used them before to print family photos or even photo books. I know I have. Plenty.

So what does this mean exactly? Well, this giveaway and prize – don’t peek yet – are sponsored by Shutterfly. Now, I usually handle giveaways on my own because I like to buy the prize and be in control of the things I give away. But this is one I would want to do … for a couple of reasons. One. I love using Shutterfly – their stuff is great. Two. The prize is awesome. So I feel good letting them offer it to you.

Before I go through how the giveaway works, let me show you some cute things I just made on their site.

Photo cards! And lots of them. This is the first time I’ve used Shutterfly to make cards. I usually just do prints or enlargements or make photobooks. So this was fun to try out. I used a few photos of sweets I’ve made in the past for holidays as the subject matter. The colors worked out great with their templates.

I could have just as easily used family photos to make the cards, but this felt right. Sweet even.

Look at this one. It lets you place three images and choose an initial as part of the design. Too cute.

It’s a flat card so you can write on the back or even add a message above the year as part of the design. I left that part blank.

Here’s another flat one. Very cheery. I like. I do.

And this one. It folds so you can write on the inside.

They even have top fold designs.

And these tall cards that come in packs of 12.

I don’t know which kind I like best. Do you? Folding cards? Flat cards? Photo cards? Square cards? Tall cards?

Too many cute choices. I need help picking. Which one is your favorite?

Oh … and they all come with envelopes too …  if you were wondering.

This is a screen capture of their website. If you have a Shutterfly account, you can add your own photos to your account and then visit the Cards & Stationary section to make holiday cards.

Pick designs based on format, card size, price, color or just sift through all of them until one jumps out at you.

That’s what I did. Except too many jumped out at me.

Once you pick your design, you can use images you have uploaded to your account and drop them into the template and create your very own cards. It was fun. Try it.

Or  … if you just want to know how you can win this…

(Told you you’d like it)

…then, here’s what you can do:

  • Just upload your own holiday photo to the Bakerella Sharesite on Shutterfly to be entered to win. That’s it. You don’t have to make anything, just share a photo. Photos can display your family, the holidays or a favorite holiday baking experience. (I added pics of some of my holiday baked goods as an example of what you can do.) Only one photo entry per user please.
  • You will need to sign into your Shutterfly account or create one real quick so you can upload an image to the Sharesite.
  • Also, after you sign in to Shutterfly, make sure to add yourself as a member to the Bakerella Sharesite.  Here’s how: When you are logged into your account, visit You will see the link “Ask to become a member” (see example below) Becoming a member will make it easy to contact you if you win. Follow the steps below:
  1. Go to and create an account
  2. Go to
  3. Add your uploaded photo to the Bakerella Sharesite
  4. Click the “Ask to become a member” link (see example below)

  • Oh yeah, you must live in the U.S. for this one (I’m sorry my international friends) and be 18 or over, too.
  • Here are the complete rules – All official like since this is sponsored by Shutterfly.
  • The contest runs from November 9, to November 17, 2010. So that’s plenty of time to go through some of your photos and pick one you want to add to the Sharesite.
  • Prizes? Yep, there’s more than one. 25 contributers to the Bakerella Shutterfly Sharesite will win a $30 gift card fulfilled as a digital code, redeemable on And ONE (1) of those 25 winners will also win the grand prize. A Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR Camera and Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens. Whoohooo! Approximate retail value $1,715.
  • Winners will be chosen randomly. That takes some stress off of which photo to upload. Winners will be announced the week of November 29, 2010 in a follow up post on

Sound good? Great. Can’t wait to see your pics.

Have a favorite holiday photo in mind already? Want to bake something yummy to show? You can. You have a little time. Have fun and good luck.

P.S. Which card of mine do you like best? Trying to decide which one to order multiples of and it’s not easy.

  28. Hey Bakerella.

Is it possible to join the competition when I live outside the US?

Ps. I think the square cards are the nicest! They are a little bit different from regular cards, which makes them more interesting.

  29. Please don;t mind me as I scoop my jaw off of the floor!

Ps….I really really love the frost upright folded card…tooo cute for words….except the ones I already used to describe it ;-)

  32. snowman pops…so “signature” of you/your creations!!

  33. I like the second flat card you show (same as in last picture with envelope) but I like my cards folded. I’d choose a top fold for that one. 2nd choice is the pink tree pops on cupcakes, followed by Frosty pops.

  34. I love the folded Frosty one. Those pops are sooo cute! Excited about this give away – thanks!

  35. :O Did you find my Christmas list? SLR camera is right up there.

  41. I like the holly jolly and the frosty cards the best. They all look great, I was thinking we could win those and was likr awesome those look so cool!

  42. those cards are sooo cute!
i’ve always stuck with folding cards, personally. it give people a chance to appreciate the picture on the outside and then open it up for a message (kind of like unwrapping a gift, i suppose…lol)
plus, i always end up writing so much that i have to continue onto the back! haha
those “JOY” cookies look delish…i may have to make some similar ones when i go home this weekend (:

  43. I’m torn between the “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” and the second flat card with Merry Christmas and 2010 in the corner.

    These all look beautiful!

  44. i just love the holly jolly christmas ones! that little saying always makes me smile around the holidays!

  45. I love the frosty card too! Can I scan a holiday card I made? Unfortunately my computer crashed and I have lost a ton of photos ( temporarily I hope!) I do have hard copies of all of my Christmas photo cards from the last 10 years.

  46. Personally, I love the two snowmen on the left with the black block/colored snowflakes on the right. Very cute!

  47. Love, love, love “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”. So cute!

  50. all of the cards look great! but i think the tall ones are what i would choose!

  51. Oh Wow! I’ve been wishing for a DSLR for months and months. And I’ve just been working on our Christmas card for this year, so this is perfect!

  52. I love the frosty cake pops folded card, super cute!
I would LOVE to have this camera, I just had my first child, Allison, and this would be awesome to catch all her “firsts”. Best of luck to everyone though!

  53. The card that I really like is the snow globe cupcake!!! They are all amazing cards but that is my favorite.

  54. what a fun idea. I am torn between the frosty and the one with multiple images and the 2010 on it. But if the card were coming to me (wink wink lol) I would say the frosty.

  55. Love the frosty pops card that says we wish you a merry christmas!

  56. I know the price is great, but I was hoping to win your xmas cards – they are all so pretty! I would print a few of each because I like to send different cards to all my friends and family…

  57. I like the top fold with the snowmen cupcakes and the snowflakes! So Cute.
thanks so much for the give away, merry Christmas to my boyfriend if i win, he’s been drooling over that camera for too long! :]

  58. The snow globe bears are awfully cute. :)

  59. How cute!! I love them all!! I’ll have to dig through my photos and share one!

  60. i like the stand up cards with the fold – they are beautiful and are decorative as well. i posted my photo :) thanks for opportunity!

  61. I like the bear on the cupcake photo montage followed closely by the Frosty cake pops ones the best.

  62. I’m not normally a snowman fan, but I think the cards with the snowmen are the most precious things ever. I think my favorite is the card with the snowflakes on the black backdrop–I like being able to see both snowmen, and the colors are fantastic, especially against the black background.

  63. I really like the top fold! (:

  64. I love the Happy Holidays card with the white trees and candy canes! Very cute! Love the giveaway too! Thanks!

  65. does it have to be winter holiday only? or can i use a fall holiday photo?

  66. I like the flat Merry Christmas card. SO CUTE! And I love this giveaway. Thank you!

  67. All the cards look great! I have to go with the ‘Frosty the Snowman’ folded card. I made those, (the cake pops) after I found your site last January and I’m hooked on Cake Pops and Cupcake Bites!!! Thank you for all the inspiration and the great prize give aways!
p.s. I wish you would come to Kansas for a book signing!

  68. Definitely the Frosty the Snowman Card! Thanks for the camera giveaway. I have my fingers crossed!

  69. The frosty pops or the snowpeople cupcake cards! So cute.

considering I’ve lost my camera, I would just about die…..

  78. Amazing giveaway! Shame I am in Australia and will miss out.
I love the card that you have pictured going into
an envelope – you have too many amazing pics to only use one :)

  79. Shutterfly is my favorite site for photo products. I am having a hard time narrowing it down for my Christmas cards. Good luck picking!!! I just wish I had some of your talent for goodies to include on a card!!!

  80. I love the multiple picture one you’re putting in the envelope and also the pink one with the Christmas tree cupcakes. Too cute!

  81. You’re awesome, hosting such a great giveaway! Thanks!

As for the card, I think I like the flat “Holly Jolly Christmas” card. Though the tall one with the snowman cupcake is pretty awesome too. I’d have to call that one a close second.

  82. I order from shutterfly on occasion so this will be easy-peasy! Ordering from them is MUCH easier and hassle free than printing pictures at Wally World (NOT recommended)!

  83. DARN!!!! this is sooo unfair!! can you at least for once have some for us internationally??? huhuhuhuhu that’s my dream cam!!

  84. I love the tall cards! LOVE that style… I am a little partial to the words “Merry Christmas” though! :) My second favorite is the flat one with the 2010 in the top right. Because I’m a bit partial toward Frosty and his corn cob pipe! :)

  85. Love them all but my favorite is “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” – something about the colors just captures everything wonderful and beautiful that you do!

  86. Another competition only for US residents :(

  87. OMG. If I win that camera, I’ll die. Ok, I won’t die, but, figuratively, I will, because I want an SLR so much. Anyway, I really like the Holly Jolly card, but I wish you had one that was more Hanukkah themed, because they all give off a christmas-y vibe.

  88. Gorgeous cards! I don’t think I can help narrow down the cards. But I do love the Frosty card as well as Holly Jolly and The Happy Holidays cupcakes. Wait… I also really like the Merry Christmas cupcakes one too. See? No help.

I accidentally created a separate album and uploaded multiple pictures but I think I fixed it. The interface was a little confusing, I thought I was uploading to my own photos so that they’d be available to add to the share site.

  89. Awesome giveaway! i your photo cards. hard to choose but kept going back to the frosty snowman card!

  90. I put more them one picture b/c I wasn’t sure what to do…then I delete them. I hope that didn’t mess it up…I was a little unclear at 1st about the album set up. Sorry…

  91. I personally like folded cards the best – they just seem more substantial to me. But I can’t decide between the frosty card and the snowman/woman card – that’s too difficult a decision. Whatever you end up picking will be great because they are all so cute!

And thanks for agreeing to the giveaway! :)

  92. I hope I win, what a fabulous prize! I like the black card with the snowmen :) so adorable!

  93. I like the square flat one with Merry Christmas in the middle!! They are all super cute though!

  94. So, I had some friends over this morning and we made the super delicious cinnamon rolls you posted a while back from Pioneer Woman. I happened to check your website and squealed when I saw this giveaway!! I just happened to have the last cinnamon roll left and had to take a picture and post it. P.S. I love the little Frosty pops, too cute!

  95. I love the frosty snowman one! They are all cute though so you can’t go wrong :) I love your site!

  96. I’m a fan of Frosty too! Just got our family pics taken, but they’re so fall-ish. Now I wish we’d had some snow to romp in to fit with the cards… I’m sure I can find something.

  97. I think I was just shot in the face. Ouch man! Over 18 AND US only?! Gaaahh. This makes being a pro photographer a whole lot harder ><

  98. I love the Frosty card. And I REALLY REALLY hope that I win the camera cause mine is sooo dying and I really need and want this camera!

  99. Can it be any winter holiday? Or does it have to be Christmas?

  100. Your cards turned out great! Especially the one with the Frosty cake pops and the one with the pink cupcakes with white trees.

We were planning to get a Christmas picture of our brand new little boy and have some cards made up with his picture on them. I’m a fan of folded cards, either side or top fold, for Christmas.

  101. I especially like the snowman pops card although they are all cute.

  102. I uploaded mine. I used my cake balls picture! So much fun :)

  103. Soooooo excited about this giveaway!!! I uploaded my picture ;) And I would have a hard time deciding between all your cute cards, too! I think I like the flat one that says “Merry Christmas” and under that is says “warmest wishes…”

  104. I love the top fold card with the snowmen. It’s so colorful and cute!

  105. I like the first one personally. :)

  106. I love your cards! They’re all so cute! It’s so hard to choose a favorite, but I think the pink one that says “Happy Holidays” with your white Christmas trees has won me over :)

  107. Wow!! What an awesome giveaway! That is the exact camera I am saving for!!!!

I love the monogram one, but I am a little momogram obsessed sometimes! :)

  108. What a great giveaway! I love Shutterfly. All of your cards are adorable! I think I like the one with Merry Christmas in the middle with the squares all around it.

  109. What a cute idea for Christmas cards – they look very professional. I like the picture of the snowman pops =)

  110. Usa residents only :( No fair!

  111. I like both of the flat cards but the tall one with the snowman is my fave ;)

  112. I love the one with the Frosty the Snowman Cake Pops! so cute!!

  113. I’m so in LOVE with the Mr & Mrs. Snowman top fold design. I love the black back ground and all the colorful snow flakes. Awesome awesome. Thats my favorite, but they are all awesome looking. Great Job. P.S someone on my Facebook was talking about cake balls and I got so excited because your really getting out there in the baking world. Feel like a proud sister :-) So sad I missed you when you were near San time….

  114. OH….MY…..GAWD… I am sooo excited about this giveaway! And you know what? I totally want to do my holiday cards with beautiful yummy treats… Because that’s what I do now. I bake. I’m known as the town baker, and it’s because of your inspiration, Bakerella. And if I get this camera, I will be even more like you! (Um, that was meant to sound admiring, not stalkerish…)

  115. What a great give away! Kind of a pain… but well worth it!
If I were you, I would choose a few of each of the cards you designed… I loved them ALL!

  116. I got more and more excited as I read on, and then the Words of Doom came: you must live in the US.

    Damn it. :(

  117. The Frosties are my favorite!!!

  118. Wow- what a great contest. I just signed up for shutterfly- it seems really cool! Thanks Bakerella!

  119. I personally, LOVE all the give-aways; so THANK YOU for posting it!!!!! :-D I’d rather have a chance to win something while reading one of my fave blogs than having to watch all the promos during my favorite t.v. shows that offer me nada! :-)

I have always LOVED your pink christmas tree cupcakes, so that card is my favorite. :)

  120. I love the “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” card!

  121. I like the blue one with the snowman head cake pops and the black one with the snowflakes and snowman cupcakes. But they are all really cute!!

  122. I like either the Holly Jolly Christmas bear or the Frosty pops. Too cute for words! :)

  123. I agree with Hilary………too many steps to win………….and too much promotion. Promoting books, promoting this, that and the other…………..PFFT.

  124. I really like the one with several pictures of your sweets. It shows a little bit of everything!

  125. awesome! I submitted a photo!

  126. It makes me sad that all of my favorite food blogs are jam packed with product placements and promos. Whatever happened to, you know, baking — without giveaways and photos of the Hershey products and cereals being used? I’m very glad, Ms. Bakerella, that you’re doing so well, but I think I have to go all the way back to the hi hat cupcakes in September to find a single entry that isn’t trying to plug, sell, or raffle something. Still not as bad as ‘Bake at 350’, though (I can’t believe she made Chevy logo and On*Star cookies)

  127. Definitely some of the cutest holiday cards ever. Those “Frosty” cake pops are totally adorable!

  128. Those are so cute! What a great idea. I love anything you can kind of personalize and make your own.

  129. WOW! Already? Presents? It seems like *everyone* has gotten into the early spirit of giving this year! You are AWESOMENESS! :D Cute cards, too! I love all of them; the more varied, the better! It was hilarious because I was reading the post, thinking, NEAT! She’s giving away custom Bakerella Christmas Cards, then WHOA ME GORSH! I was like, what the heck, she’s giving away a REAL LIVE SLR! Holy cow, woman; what has gotten IN to you? :D Love!

  130. i like the snowman cupcakes! adorable! this is such an awesome giveaway!

  131. Your cards are so cute!!! Too bad I’m not living in US!

  132. I think you should sell YOUR card creations to us!!!! All of your darling images are WAY cuter than most of the cards out on the shelves right now! (Seriously … good idea, yes? Because I would SO buy one, or more, of these card you put together.)

They are ALL SOOO darling and fun and festive and colorful … you’re amazing!

  133. It is hard to choose!! But I really love the one with the snowglobe bear!!!! Way too cute!

  134. I love love love the one with the Frosty cakepops. I <3 snowmen!

  141. Wowzers!! What a great giveaway, love Shutterfly!

  142. LOVE your cards…so fun! Thanks for the contest..and the fact that it is random..makes the picture choices much easier than trying to find ‘the perfect photo!’

  143. I love the postcards :-) beautiful giveaway!! Thank you!

  144. I love the effect of the snow globe, so I vote Holly Jolly Christmas! I want to share a pic as soon as you accept my as a friend!! Thanks, love the give away!

  145. What an amazing idea for Christmas cards, I love how all of yours turned out. My favorites is Merry Christmas warmest wishes…too cute! What a fabulous giveaway too!

  146. O thank you for sharing this, with this being baby’s first Christmas we needed some ideas on how to do photo cards for all the family since we live out of state from everyone and they wont meet him till Christmas. Cant wait to check out their selection
If I were to choose a card of yours you displayed it would be: the tall Mr. Frosty in front with Mrs. Frosty just behind him. My second choice would be the polar snow globe with inital, too precious!

  147. My favorite card is the one w/ Frosty The Snowman Cake Pops “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”. My next fav is the one w/ the snowman & snow-woman. :o)

  148. Frosty Pops!

  149. First of all, thanks for an awesome giveaway! I love Shutterfly and use them for all my printing needs. Second, I uploaded a photo to an album and then realized I should have added it to the album you created. So, I deleted my album and then added my photo to your album. I wasn’t trying to enter twice. Just wanted my photo to end up in the right place. :) Thanks again. And I love your cards. I like the flat ones the best, but they are all adorable.

  150. Great giveaway :) I just did a promotion for Shutterfly but this one has a *little* bit better prize! haha.

  151. My photo is uploaded and I’ve asked to become a member of the Bakerella Sharesite! Thank you so much for hosting this amazing giveaway!

Also, I like the card in the very last photo that says “Merry Christmas, warmest wishes.” It’s a tough call though – they’re all fantastic! :)

  152. Awesome! Just added a couple of pictures. :)

  153. I love, love LOVE the tall Snowman card. What an awesome idea.

  154. I love this! I was planning on uploading some photos to create a photobook this week so the timing is perfect!
(and I love all the holiday cards! not sure how you will pick but they gave me great ideas for my own holiday cards!)

  155. Thank you sooooo much for this wonderful giveaway!!!!
I love your reindeer cake pops, but your snowmen cake pops
    are my favorites.

Just wanted you to know that I made little wedding cake cake pops for my daughters wedding reception. They were the biggest hit…and I’ve been asked to do them for other receptions. Never would have thought of it on my own!

Hope you enjoy my “Toofbrush Fer Christmas” photo:-)

  156. AWESOME giveaway! I like your snowman cuppies photo-it just looks so cute sitting on that card. :)

I just entered and shared a photo of my best cottontail friend by his mini-tree. :) Love it!

  157. My fav is the 3 photos with the initial. Why? I can’t tell you, really. I guess I just think it’s purty and all.
I am not sure I fully comprehend how to enter this contest. Photo uploading sites like shutterfly confuse me. I shun them. But it is a really great prize! Someone is going to have a fantastic pre-Christmas gift. Just in time for the Holidays!

  158. Hi Bakerella! I love all of them but my favorite is the Holly Jolly Flat Card- very different!

  159. I really love the Christmas tree/ ice cream cone card. That has always been one of my favorite treats you’ve ever made and I love the coloring for the photo…reminds me of the sweets on Nutcracker or something….

  160. Andrea – Add it to the existing album. Eventually that album will get full and I will open up a second album and so on. I think they will only hold a certain number of photos. Unfortunately, I can’t stop individual albums from being created, so I’ll do my best to keep them consolidated as it goes. Hope that helps.

  161. Love them all…you should sell them!!!

  162. Darn it – fell off my chair, not feel….

  163. Wowzers!!! What an incredible giveaway! I thought it was going to be cards from Shutterfly and I was super excited about that – when I got to the end and saw that camera, I about feel off my chair!

My fav of your cards is the Frosty one because the blues and reds look awesome together! I can’t believe how well all the colors work with the card and I love having an inside of a card to write in. Can’t wait to get my photo and enter the contest! This one is going to be huge…

  164. I *love* the Holly Jolly one! :)

Just to clarify … we should add our photo to an existing album that someone else already created, which you’ll consolidate into one big one? Or we should create our own album?

(giving a shout out to all the other anal retentives like me.)

  165. first I love shutterfly too! and I LOVE your snowman card- I would order those in a heartbeat!

  166. Oh God, I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed not to be american :(

  167. Monogram, holly jolly one is my fave!

What an AMAZING giveaway! I hope I’m lucky this holiday season!!

  168. Hey Michele – one entry per user name. Each person should only upload one image. Multilple entries will not increase your chances.

  169. LOVE the snowman card!

  170. My vote is the photocard. After the holidays, the recipient can place the card in a frame or in a photo album to enjoy year round.

  171. The Frosty the Snowman folded card – SO cute! This giveaway is so amazing! All your cards turned out so cute.

  172. I love all the cards but I think my favorite is the Merry Christmas one. AWESOME give away…I have been lusting for a good camera and it would be great to win one. Thanks for the opportunity!

  173. I like the one with the Frosty Cake Pops. The blue colors are pretty!

  174. I would buy your cards. I’ll have to spend some time over at Shuttfly. I need to make a photo book for my parent’s 50 th anniversary. That would be awesome for them.

  175. Photo cards are my favorite!! Great gifts for extended family members as well!

  176. Your photo cards are too cute. The images you selected work perfectly with the shutterfly cards. I would have never thought about that because I’ve only used photos of my family but that’s so clever.

I like the flat cards best. “Have a holly jolly christmas” or merry christmas 2010″ are my faves..

This is an awesome giveaway! I’m heading over to shutterfly right now. Thank you!

  177. Hi Bakerella – to be clear, is it one entry per Shutterfly member or one per photo? Meaning, are you and Shutterfly going to go through and weed it down to one entry per person before randomly selecting a winner? (Yes, I do like rules, why do you ask?)

And I think I like the frosty pops card the best.

  178. Totally over the top giveaway! Thanks!
    I’m liking the Frosty pops!!

  179. I love the card that you are putting into the envelope in your pics…that’s my FAVORITE!

  180. I meant no, not not : )

  181. Hi Jessica – not. I’m consolidating and then when an album fills up a new one will start. Thanks for asking.

  182. Love the one with the “B” monogram. I’m Southern & we’re all suckers for a good monogram…

  183. The Frosty pops card is definitely my favorite!!

Thank you and Shutterfly for such an AMAZING giveaway! I’ll be entering for sure!!

  184. People seem to be making their own album each time they add a photo. Do you want each one in a separate album?

  185. Hi Bakerella,
I gave a shoutout to you on my new blogsite. I used to concept to come up with a new fun design. Hope you like it!

  186. I thought you were giving away photo cards. This is clearly, clearly, clearly better. :-P

My two favorites are the holly jolly Christmas one with the snowglobe bears and the one right under that that says “warmest wishes.” You have fantastic pictures and colors and themes for them!!

  187. This is SO FUN!!! I definitely love the flat tall cards best for the shape, but I cannot get over how adorable the snowmen cake pops are. I love it :D

  188. WOW great giveaway! My husband and I got married this year, so I know our holiday card will have at least one wedding picture. Choosing one (or a few) is so tough!

  189. I like the frosty cake pop card best. THis is an amazing giveaway!

  190. The folded card with the snowmanpops is my favorite. Awesome giveaway. I’m from the Netherlands so I can’t enter, but I’m sure someone else is going to be really really really happy with it :)

  191. I like the flat card with “Merry Christmas” in the middle. I love flat cards filled with pictures–the less I have to write the better! :)

  192. I like the merry chrismas one with the B! :-) Just entered with a photo of my puppy at Christmas! ;-)

  193. I like the frosty folded card because then you can put a family photo inside with a personal message. All of them are great!

  194. my vote is for the folded card with the frosty pops (PLEASE tell us how you made those. i’m dying over their cuteness).

  195. AWESOME giveaway!!!! I LOVE all your photos…but honestly, your Seasame Street is STILL my favorite! That and Cute for a Cure!
