Who’s baking for the holidays right now? Who’s going to be baking over the next few days? And who’s over baking already? Not me. I haven’t even gotten started. I’m like way behind. Last weekend was my final book signing for the year and while I was out of town, I really thought I had two weeks before Christmas. Not so much. More like one week and now it’s just a few days away. Yikes. I need pecan pie and fudge and reindeer chow and cookies and cake balls and MORE time. Help.
While I’m trying to decide what to bake, I thought I would share some past treats. I hope they help make your holidays a little sweeter.
Candy Cane Christmas Tree Cupcakes
These were so much fun to make. Candy cane trunks and ice cream cone trees covered in candy and sprinkles. These are pretty in pink but would be sweet in green, too. Change up the colors for a traditional and festive look.
These are just about the sweetest things ever. Snowmen made of donut holes and milk make me melt.
These chocolatey cookies are so pretty for the holidays. I love how the powdered sugar looks like snow.
Major yum. They are so rich you’ll only need one… if you can stop yourself.
These cookies make me smile every time and they are a blast to decorate. You can make the cutest faces with confetti sprinkles and white royal icing.
These may be the easiest things to make ever. And biting into a brownie with a Reese’s peanut butter cup baked into it is like heaven. These are great to serve at a party too.
This is one of my must makes every year during the holidays. So easy to sink your teeth into. And it keeps for ever. I like to cut them into small squares so I feel like it lasts longer.
These look just like they could pop off the screen and start talking.
The first time I bit into one of these was at Christmastime. They are the perfect bite-size treat.
Make 3 regular or 36 mini pies with this recipe and make lots of people happy. Perfect to keep and give away.
Peanut butter and chocolate lovers – this is for you. You can have a giant bowl ready in just a few minutes … no baking.
These cookies were a sweet surprise. I had not expected to love them so much when I first tried them. But they are one of those recipes I could never get tired of. So good.
Make this the star of your holiday table and you won’t need anything else.
Whatever you do… don’t make this… unless you make a triple batch. It’s super-addictive.
I originally made these for St. Patrick’s Day. Just change up the shamrock sprinkles and they’ll be perfect for Christmas.
These Santas were made using an ice cream cookie cutter. Look through your cookie cutters and get creative with reusing shapes.
These make a great last minute gift. Change the M&M’s to red and green for a festive present.
Double Decker Nutcracker Cake Pops
There isn’t really a how-to for these but, check out the link for my friend, Julie’s Candyland Christmas decorations. It’s worth it. And if you make cake pops often, you can probably figure out how to recreate these sweet soldiers.
Yes, I like bite size balls. : ) These oreo truffles are like crazy good. CRAZEEEEE. Plus you can whip them up quickly. No baking for these either.
I made these recently for Betty Crocker’s Red Hot Holidays. Try them with red hats for a merry alternative.
Fun to package and even more fun to present to someone and make them feel special.
These cupcakes go with an old giveaway post from a few years ago. I haven’t seen the round soft drink bottles this year but the cupcakes are just so cute I had to share again. I hope they bring a smile and you can always make them without the globe. Still super cute.
Enjoy! … And I hope your holiday baking is full of sweet, wonderful memories.
Now, I need to go see how much butter I have handy. What are you guys baking?
What happens if your bakery challenged
Those chocolate crackle cookies were so good thanks bakerella
I am a big fan. You have push me to cook at first,i was not into cooking. But i am only 9. I would love to meat you some time because you make my mind flow and if you coul’d give me a replay i would love that!!!!!
Wow, these look oh-so-delicious and festive! I am definitely doing the snowmen cake pops when the holidays come again. Happy new year! :)
Everything looks yummy and photos are perfect!
I love love lovethose white tree cupcakes – they look like those bottle brush trees. Very… edible vintage? :) And I adore the nutcracker cakepops! Too cute!
i really need to stop eating all these sweets after christmas,
but this look oh. so. good.
The oreo truffles are to die for!!! I made some and brought them to school and all my friends loved them and wanted the recipe!! Thanks for all the great ideas!!
Hi Bakerella. Thanks for all those wonderful recipes that you bring to us. These treats are completely amazing, I love them I really wish a Merry Christmas for you and your family.
What beautiful treats. Love the forest of Christmassy trees right at the top, and I wouldn’t mind if you gave me a few red velvet cake balls. They look like little festive truffles!
I’m not baking anything fancy today, I’m going to make some cheesy scones to take to my mum for something cosy and not too sweet :) Haven’t made scones in YEARS, so I’m excited… only thing I realised… I don’t have cookie cutters…!
I’ve been baking for the last two weeks!! :/
I just had a thought about the snow globe cupcakes – I realize that as you said the round Coke plastic bottles aren’t out this year, but what about using the small “POM Wonderful” bottles instead? They have two of the bulbous shaped sections on each bottle.. I think you could use the bottom bulb for them. :)
So ironic that you mention butter, started my baking yesterday. Ran to the store to overstock on ingredients so I don’t have to run out in the weekend madness. Forgot butter and that’s the one ingredient that I didn’t have any off. LOL. Oh well. Have a million treats in mind and haven’t narrowing it down yet, so looks like I’ll be baking into the New Year. Have a Merry Christmas! Thanks for a year of fun treats, can’t wait to see what your imagination creates in 2013.
I so want to make all of your goodies! :) I plan to make sugar cookies with the family tomorrow and then some time next week make spritz cookies :) Have a Merry Christmas!
I just started and I am so behind also. Have to bring a cake to my sister’s party Sunday. Another dessert for my other sister the 31st. And in between we like to have our favorite treats during the Holiday. Hope I will be on time for Christmas!!!
Ah, baking memories of 2012! My baking this year includes a couple of adult treats of red and green candy covered bourbon balls placed in pretty mini muffin paper cups, and a fabulous recipe for individual mini-loaf White Fruit Cakes that I found on AllRecipes – delicious! My fruitcake has candied cherries, candied pineapple, currants and lots of whole walnuts, and they’re currently being permeated with some really nice dark rum before wrapping to give away – yum! I did make the Oreo cream cheese truffle balls in white and sprinkled with silver candy glitter, and those will be wrapped in bunches in cellophane bags, tied up in festive ribbon for the kids. Now all that’s left to bake this Monday is my family’s traditional carrot cake with cream cheese and coconut frosting recipe to add to our Christmas dinner desserts! Thanks, Bakerella, for a fun year of wonderful baking ideas! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!! ,’)
well, now that I’ve seen your pictures, I want to make it all! but seriously, my daughter and I help each other out by making cookies and swapping them. The pecan tarts are done, as are the Hershey kiss cookies, and the chocolate rum balls (no baking!) and the butter meltaways and the cutouts (plain and anise). She is all done and I’m still at work – spitzbuben and spritz to be done, as well as cookie dough and oreo truffles, peanut brittle, and cheesecake for the big day dinner. But I still have Saturday and Monday (work Sunday) so all is well. Enjoy your Christmas!
Right there with you, havn’t baked a thing….yet! I’ll be a baking fool this weekend. I’m going to try my hand at the santa cut outs from the ice cream cone, they are just adorable!
Yum! I want to make these! :)
You are amazing.. just wondering how you get your cake balls not to get the oily residue and sometimes the cake part breaks the shell…How do you avoid that?
I have a whole weekend of baking in front of me!! I have made about 4 things from the items above. They all turned out super fantastic and I got lots of compliments on them! You are my secret weapon for all things in the cute baking department!!
I love all of your Christmas sweets, Bakerella! Your ideas are so wonderful.
This year I made cake pop Christmas trees in chocolate mint and Santa hats in red velvet. They were so adorable and a big hit with everyone. :D I also made peanutbutter cookies drizzled with white chocolate and I’m making Christmas sugar cut out cookies!
Over the past week I have made white chocolate cheesecake, Christmas colored homemade oreos, brownie biscotti, peanut butter chocolate dipped biscotti AND baked donuts! My boyfriend politely requested “Do you think you can take a break for a while?” In the same breath he asked “Are you making coffee cake Christmas morning?” haha Oh and I forgot. I made really cute chocolate dipped spoons for coffee stirs. I dipped the spoon all in dark chocolate, then half in green and the tip in red and topped off with a little white sprinkles on the red. So cute and easy for gifts!
Thanks for all the cute ideas!
Baking EVERYTHING! So many sweet and cute treats you have baked these last few years. I love them ALL! Merry Christmas Miss Angie. :o)
I would like one of each, please! ;-)
I’m actually not doing as much this year. Just the cordial cherries, peppermint bark, lemon fudge, cake balls… We did some gingerbread cookies and sugar cookies are next on the list. I HAVE to have a peppermint cake this year, and we have a lot of bread to make. But, that’s all. We just didn’t have time for everything this year.
All of those treats sound so yummy, though… I’m kinda trying to figure out how to squeeze in time to make some of them, too… Now, where can I get some extra time and energy? :) Merry Christmas!
I am done baking now I can finish my shopping. I have baked 1200 cocoons (italian wedding cookies), 30 lbs of chocolate walnut fudge and 15 batches of toffee crunch candy. I have a very large Italian family and they love my baking and can’t wait until Christmas for their contian full of goodies.
I believe I am making a dessert bread and trifle over the weekend. I still need to decide. I have both a trifle bowl and little mason jars which would be great for single serving trifles. Yum!
They are all so dang cute……I especially love the gingerheads. Merry Christmas, Bakerella!!!
I’m Jewish, my holiday already happend. Coconut macaroons are good :D
I love those cute little milk men!
All your treats look delicious. The only cookies I’ve made so far were for a cookie exchange. I made chocolate chip Nutella candy cane cookies:
I love them all!
man I am so far behind I don’t even know where to start baking!
The candy cane Christmas trees are my fav! I made them one year and they were such a big hit!
Even though there never seems to be enough time to get it all done; I never stop trying! Thanks to your inspiration I am baking and decorating goodies in ways I couldn’t imagine! Merry Christmas!
Um… can I have everything? I’m making brownies and apple cranberry crumble. Special requests from my brother. :-)
Christmas on Parade Courtesy of Bakerella! I sympathize with your desire for more time but very much appreciate your taking time to share your how-tos for Candy Cane Christmas Tree Cupcakes. Looking forward to making them along with your Brownie Candy Cups=)
I still have Christmas baking to finish. My boyfriend’s family has 16 people coming over (yikes!) so I have to make even more stuff for everyone.
I make rocky road, fudge, gingerbread cookies, white chocolate raspberry shortbread cookies, butternut balls, and chocolate peppermint spritz cookies. Phew! So much baking to do, so little time!
All of those look soooooo good! i need to make something sweet!!!!!!
Oh. My. Goodness.
My mouth is watering.
LOVE desserts – now to decide…which one to make??
I made Santa hats, gingerheads and white balls with peppermint cake pops and was so happy with how they turned out! Made one cardinal just to see how it would look and LOVED IT!
So many yummy goodies to pick from :)
I just baked up some cream puffs!!! OMG these are delishh!! by first attempt and they are super delicious.
Thank you for your wonderful post. Love all the pictures.
Catarina aka docerela
Yum! We always make candy-cane cookies, spritz, and oreo truffles over here, but this year we are in a new house and all of our Christmas stuff is packed away in storage, including our cookie gun! I’m beside myself about it. Maybe we’ll substitute one of these cute treats instead!
I just baked a three tier cake for my little cousin who turned 1 on Dec. 20! Ps love the chocolate crackles!!! I’ve been asked 5 times already to bake them for people. :))
Merry Christmas <3
Those milk men are sooo cute!! And omg those oreo truffles are so addictive!!
Happy holidays, Angie!!
I already made 10 dozen butter tarts, and 28 dozen cookies..ginger snaps, shortbread, sugar cookies and fudge puddles(peanut butter cookie shell with fudge in it). I still want to make Oreo truffles shaped as santa hats and peanut butter truffles shaped as gingerbread men.
I made the Oreo truffles already! Although I used real dark chocolate for the coating, candy coating is too expensive and hard to get for me. They were devoured really quickly. :)
